Chapter Thirty-Nine

Talent Show

“Come on everyone” Kris called everyone off the field. Daniella jogged lightly, when she looked back she saw Luhan having trouble. Luhan wore long sleeves so no one would ask question about his wound which was still healing. Luhan kept wheezing and sweating all over the place, he looked exhausted. Daniella patted Luhan’s back, smiling. ‘Hang in there.’ Daniella thought.

Luhan sat on the bleachers wiping his sweat with a white towel “Dude you look horrible, even more than Tao on his worst day” Chen joked making the team shout. ‘Burn!’ Luhan rolled his eyes and drank some water.

“Listen everyone, the school will be holding a talent show this week. The winning team will get a thousand dollars and tickets to Everland” The team whispered. “However the girls dance team seem to always win with barely any clothes and shaking it off” Some team members nodded, remembering last year's performance. “This year we are going to win with you two” Kris pointed to Luhan and Daniella who were shocked.

“No, a million times no!” Luhan shouted, Xiumin and Chen awed. “I said no last year and I am saying no again” Luhan crossed his arms.

Daniella was confused, she didn't understand why Luhan was being so reluctant. “Come on, this time you have Daniel to perform with you” Kris was trying to convince Luhan. “And this time we will be doing it on the number one movie this year” Kris knew Luhan could not say no.

“Why me? Do you know how hard I had to work for this image?” Luhan stood up and looked at his team members who chuckled. “What if Daniella sees? She will break up with me the moment I get on stage.” Luhan knew that he had no chance getting out of this.

“Wait what are you guys talking about?” Daniella was puzzled to why the team would laugh at Luhan and why he would think she would break up with him. Lay whispered into Daniella's ear what Kris had in plan for the talent show. Daniella covered trying to hold her laughter, she looked at Luhan. “We are totally doing this” Daniella agreed making the team cheer.

Luhan fell to his knees “My life is now over”

“Okay everyone I am going to give your assigned jobs” Kris handed each team member a piece of paper with things they needed to do written on it. “Luhan and Daniel you have three days to perfect this performance please don’t let me down” Kris messed both of their hair and left to go to the changing room.

“I guess we should go to our room to practice” Daniella suggested. Luhan continue moping hoping his nightmare would end soon. “I’m going to take a shower, why don’t you watch the movie? Maybe you will want to perform after watching it” Daniella joked while Luhan just glared at her.

Daniella went to the bathroom, she locked the door making sure Luhan wouldn't come in. After the shower Daniella dried herself off and put on fresh clothes. While she was putting on some clothes she overheard Luhan talking to someone. “Hey Daniella it’s me again, I know we haven’t talk since our last phone conversation. Can you call back? I miss your voice, and I love you.”

Daniella's heart fluttered, she couldn’t help but love Luhan even more. ‘I wish I could be Daniella right now, but Daniel has to practice with you.’ Daniella put her shirt on and went out of the bathroom. “Hey” Daniella said. Luhan was on the couch looking down, not even bothering to watch the movie.

“Have you spoke to your sister yet?” Luhan asked and Daniella shook her head. ‘Maybe she's busy with her mother’s club.’ Luhan thought.

They took the time to practice, which Luhan hated every minute of. He couldn't wait to get this over and done with. The other team members also practiced for their parts and when it came to the day, everyone was excited. “No way” Daniella stood in the audience watching one of the performances. The bike club were doing tricks on the ramps with their bikes.

This year was a tough competition for the school, since the prize money went up. Everyone wanted to win making the talent really show even more spectacular. That is why Kris got costumes for everyone. “I am not wearing this!” Luhan shoved the costume into Kris' chest.

“Come on it's not a full performance if you don’t wear the costume” Kris begged. Luhan turned his head to the side and crossed his arms. “Did you really think you were going to sing without the costume?” Kris asked making Luhan speechless.

Daniella came in and twirled around making the guys whistle. “You look just like Daniella” Taemin said. Luhan couldn’t but look. “God are those s real?” Taemin joked by trying to grab one of them. Daniella slapped Taemin’s hand. Luhan keep his eyes off of Daniella. ‘Why do I feel like this, this is my girlfriend’s brother’ Luhan had to pinch himself to stop thinking about Daniel as attractive.

Daniella hooked arms with Luhan. “Come on Luhan put on the costume” Daniella tried to convince Luhan. Luhan swallowed hard ‘Daniel's fake s are touching me... They feel just like Daniella’ Luhan started to get very nervous. “Daniella won’t be here so she won’t see any of this” Daniella lied.

“Fine” Luhan took the costume and went to the washroom to change. When he came out every whistle and had a few chuckles “Why does she have to wear a cape?” Luhan tried to straighten it out but only turned in circles.

“Luhan you make a beautiful Elsa” Tao joked.

“Come on sister the show is about to start” Daniella pulled Luhan backstage. Daniella waited until her team was called to perform first. The Music started as Daniella went on stage and sang‘Do You Want To Build A Snow Man?’ Daniella was dressed as Anna from the movie ‘Frozen’. However she didn't sing the whole song only small parts of it.

Taemin came on and sang ‘Love Is An Open Door’ with Daniella. After their duet is was Luhan's turn which he dreaded the most. I can’t believe I am doing this” Luhan said he then got on stage as Daniella and Taemin got off the music started, making him sing ‘Let It Go’. The girls went crazy for Luhan dressed as girl.

Most people could not believe how the guys could such good looking girls. Lay's part was next and people had awed his cute costume. He went up stage dressed as Olaf and sang ‘In Summer'. The last song was played, everyone went up on stage and sang ‘For the First Time in Forever’

The whole act made the audience have a good laugh. The team had bowed when the audience applauded them. In the changing room Luhan took off his wig and threw it across the room. “You guys, I think we are going to win this” Kris clapped his hands. Everyone started to change into their regular clothes. Daniella bit down on her lip as she tried to avoid looking at everyone's bodies. Daniella quickly got her clothes and went into an empty bathroom stall to change.

“Come on guys I really need to pee” Tao whined as he banged on the door. Tao gave up and decided to go to a bathroom outside of the changing room. When he opened the door he saw Daniella's top half. “You’re a g-girl?” Tao pointed at Daniella who was trying cover her bandage. “I need to tell Kris” Tao quickly turned around and went running to Kris.

“No Tao, wait” Daniella called but Tao was out of the bathroom looking for Kris.

“Kris come here” Tao pulled Kris into the direction of the bathroom. “Daniel is a girl, she is in the bathroom” Tao said. He did expect Kris to pin him to the hallway wall. “K-Kris Ge” Tao stuttered. Tao was scared when Kris growled at him, he didn’t know what he did wrong.

Kris looked back and forth in halls making sure no one was around. “Whatever you saw, you won’t tell a soul” Kris said making Tao confused.

“You know that Daniel is a girl?” Tao said sounding like an idiot.

“No Tao listen to me, Daniel is Daniella okay. I knew about this for a long time but she is one of the best players on the team. We need her to beat Eastern University, she is a great soccer player” Kris said.

“But-“ Kris pushed Tao into the locker even more.

“No buts Tao. I know that you two don't get along with each other. However you have to think about the team.” Kris said just then Daniella got out of the bathroom. She looked at Kris who was pining Tao against the wall. “Whatever she said agree with keeping a secret” Kris whispered and let go of Tao.

“Tao I can explain everything” Daniella said.

“You don’t have to say anything, I will keep your secret” Tao said in a low voice. Daniella smiled and hugged Tao catching him off guard, however Tao liked the hug and hugged her back.

“Hey, what are you guys all doing here?” Luhan asked as he walked over to the three. “They're calling us up, we won the talent show” Luhan said. Daniella and Kris froze. ‘Did he hear Tao talking about my secret?’ Daniella thought. Everyone walked to the back of the stage and then accepted their award.

“I don’t think he knows, but how long to you plan on keeping it a secret from him?” Kris whispered into Daniella's ear.

“Soon, I just need to wait for the right time” Daniella said. When she looked at happy Luhan counting his money, Daniella felt bad. ‘If I tell him would he be happy or mad that I kept this secret from him?’ Daniella couldn’t help but feel scared about the consequences if she told him the truth.
