For those of you who don't know me (and chances are, most of you don't), I am in fact Sungyeol-biased. The layout should have probably given that away by now, a conscious decision made in the interest of full disclosure. I do, however, solemnly swear that this bias will not affect my enjoyment of your stories, nor will it affect my judging criteria. This is an Infinite writing contest, and I will read and judge accordingly! Furthermore, just because I liked toying with this layout, visual appearance will play no role in how I judge your story unless it actually makes it difficult for me to read your writing.

I will be the sole judge of this contest, and I will be judging based on creative incorporation of prompts, parting impression, and overall enjoyment. Although technical aspects do not factor into the aforementioned criteria, I highly encourage the use of the grammar and spell check features that come with most word processors, or even a beta reader if you have someone willing to proofread your work. Co-authors are not allowed, however. I would also appreciate it, if you choose to submit your writing to a reviewer for content-related feedback, to do so after the contest closes. Ideally, your story will be entirely your own from idea conception to story delivery.

THE BASICS
This is an alternate universe (AU) writing contest starring the members of Infinite! What that means is that all entries submitted to this contest must be an AU of some sort and feature at least one member from Infinite. Simple enough, right? There's a catch - prompts. The theme of this contest was inspired not only by my love of AUs and Infinite, but also by a game called bingo, at least the version of bingo in which the goal is to fill a line of five-in-a-row on a 5x5 grid. The challenge is as follows.

1. Look at the game card and determine which five-in-a-row cluster of prompts you might be interested in filling.

2. Come up with an AU inspired by at least one of those prompts.

3. Write an Infinite fanfic using that AU and the remaining prompts.

Your entry should not be an existing story of yours - it must be written only for this contest. As such, the story should be created after February 14, 2014. The deadline of this contest is August 27, 2014, and I will accept entries until 23:59 Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time (HST). This gives everyone interested a little over six months to write and complete their entries.

More detailed instructions are available! Please carefully read through the rules and guidelines, and if I have left you confused afterwards, feel free to comment with any questions! I will be happy to clarify things that seem unclear, and a FAQ section will then be available for further reference.

Aug 27 - there is approximately 13 hours left until this writing contest's deadline! in response to some extension requests, I propose the following. I will not extend the deadline any further and 〈 IN ANOTHER LIFE 〉 is officially closed for judging by midnight, however, as it is highly unlikely that I will stay up waiting to edit this page, players struggling to finish by 23:59 HST may continue to write and edit at their discretion until I wake up in the morning and change the status of this contest. I repeat, you may do so at your discretion, because I am not providing a strict time for when I start my day and once I close this contest for judging, there are no exceptions. I certainly sympathize with the time crunch, but please understand that providing a significant deadline extension would not be fair to those who completed their entries on time. simply do your best, as this should ultimately be a personal challenge. hwaiting!!
