“Uh.”

Kibum huffed as he felt his body hit the ground. He looked around seeing another body lying next to his. Not bothering to find out who that was because he was already sure who was it, he got up trying to figure out where they land. They weren’t supposed to be here; not right now. They still had a few months of preparations. And if wasn’t for Jinki’s clumsy antics, they would still had those months.

But of course, Jinki had to ruin it all.

                “So, Kibum, Jinki. Do you have everything ready?” Professor Lee Soo Man asked entering their lab.

                “Not yet, we still have a few things to take care of. Kibum here is studying the language and he’s already very successful in understanding what they’re saying.”

                “Is that right, Kibum?”

                “Yes, professor. Also, I already know what we have to do when we land there in order to be like them.”

                “What’s taking you so long, then?”

                Jinki gulped. “I still need to improve some things about The Gate. Like the exact location and the way to open one when we have to come back from Earth.”

                “Oh, alright. I’m gonna go, then, and leave you to your preparations.”

                The two colleagues stood up and bowed to their superior and only sat down again when he left the lab completely. Jinki sighed and thrown his body on the chair, exhausted. He looked at Kibum and saw him roll his eyes.

                “Don’t worry, Kibum.”

                “How am I supposed to do that? You just lied to him, Jinki!” The white haired demon said, throwing his arms in the air. “You don’t even know how to open The Gate on Earth.”

                “I told him just that.”

                “No, you- Jinki, what is that?”

                Jinki snapped his head back to where Kibum was looking and saw a black hole starting to form in front of his eyes. Without knowing what to do or why was The Gate opening without having being summoned, Jinki quickly run to it, trying to take hold of the situation. However, his foot was held by one of the chairs and the demon stumbled his way to The Gate.

                Kibum, with wide eyes, tried to catch Jinki’s hand to prevent him from falling into the massive black hole ahead them. But there was no such luck. Jinki, still trembling, fell a little too close to the hole and the suction started to pull him in, dragging Kibum with him.

                “Jinki!” He yelled, after feeling their bodies entering the black spiral.

                The demon looked at him, with fearful eyes. “There’s no way back, Kibum, hang on!”

And that’s how they ended up on Earth, unprepared.

Remembering everything, Kibum felt a sudden urge of smacking something but the only thing in sight was Jinki and even though he was the reason of their current situation, he couldn’t do that to him. Also, he was still very much lifeless at his side so there was no satisfaction in hitting him if he wasn’t going to feel anything.

“Ugh!”

Okay, not that lifeless since he was grunting.

“Kibum- Ouch!”

So Kibum kind of smack Jinki in the forehead after all.

“What was that for?”

“Just be quiet, Jinki or I’m gonna hit you even harder.” He ordered, fully looking at the other now, widening his eyes. Jinki’s red hair was now more brownish just like his small eyes. And even though his lips were just as thick, he somehow seemed different. “What happened to you?”

Still rubbing his forehead, Jinki sighed. “What do you mean?”

“You’re different. You’re… you’re…”

“I’m what, Kibum?” He asked, tired, finally looking up. “Oh my god, you’re human!”

“That’s what I was trying to say.” The now blond instead of white haired demon said. “Do I look good?”

Jinki stared at him for a long time with his hand on his chin. “You don’t seem very different to me.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

He took in Kibum’s high cheekbones that were the face feature that stood out the most, his brown eyes that reminded him of a cat and his pink lips. “You look... pretty.” He concluded after a while, grinning. “Yeah, you look pretty.”

A smile slowly made his way to Kibum’s face and he stood up. “You think I’m pretty? Aw, Jinki, you-“

“Are you okay?”

Both demons’ heads turned in direction of that voice. A human girl was walking to them, with what seemed worry. And that’s when Kibum thought of what they looked like. Two, apparent, normal people, sitting on the ground, talking in a foreign language, with strange clothes. Yeah, that must seem a weird sight to see.

So Kibum tried to take the dust of his clothes and looked up, smiling.

“Yes, I think I’m good.”

“Sorry, what did you say?”

“Kibum, I don’t think she understands what we are saying.”

“Ah, don’t say, Jinki. As if I didn’t know that yet!” He snapped, frustrated, rolling his eyes. “Hold on. I’m gonna try something.”

“Alright…”

“Where… we… are?”

The stranger gave them a weird look and glanced between the two. “In Korea.”

“At least you got the location right.”

Not even bothering to answer to Kibum’s sarcasm, Jinki clapped his hands. “Oh look, she understood what you said!”

“Of course, did you expect any less of me?” It was his smugly reply before turning to the stranger again. “Are we.. in Seoul?”

“Yes! Do you need any help?”

“No, we don’t. Thank you.”

“I could take you to the hospital or-”

“It won’t be… necessary.” Kibum smiled, showing his white teeth, turning to Jinki. “Get up, Jinki, let’s go!”

“Yes, yes, sir!”

Kibum shook his head and chuckled. “Come on, we have a lot of work to do with your language skills.”
