Demons
Description
It started that year in 1987, when a girl got this phone call. She was asked to baby sit one of her friend’s baby sister. Her name was Claire; she remembered putting up an ad for a summer time job around the neighborhood. Wufan’s mother would be her first customer. She put the little baby to sleep that night and sat down in the living room to watch her favorite show.
She called Wufan asking about that angel statue in the living room. Saying it was very realistic and pretty, she asked where to get one just like it.
With a shaky voice, Wufan said to get his little sister and run out of the house because they didn’t have an angel statue.
Claire ran, she was horrified.
They were only teenagers then, she had no idea what to do.
Wufan pulled into the driveway and heard his mother singing the baby to sleep over the baby monitor in his car. Mom must be home. He nodded to himself; he tried to get himself together. He was quite scared too. Claire must’ve left a couple minutes ago. The call was recent. He thought to himself. The sound of his mother’s soothing voice immediately calmed him down. It was so familiar; the way she sung the lullaby.
Then he noticed a pair of headlights pull up in the driveway.
It was his mother. Wufan's heart beat fastened, who was in the house?
Weeks later, all of their bodies were found at a bottom of a lake that never existed in the first place.
Since then, no one has entered the Wu’s residence.

Ava frowns as she looks out the window. A place she has no memory of, a new town, which meant new friends and a new school.
She sighed and closed the window, oddly enough, last week when she tried searching up the place, not much came up. On the bright side, a childhood friend she knew was there. His name was Baekhyun, she knew him in fifth and sixth grade until he moved in seventh grade. Now they’re in their last year of high school.
They haven’t talked since then, but he probably knows he should expect her since her mother and his have been friends for years. Does he even remember me? Ava fumbles through her phone contacts. Her mother had somehow gotten her hands on Baekhyun’s number.
“Byun Baekhyun.” Ava whispered the name to herself. How is he doing? She didn’t remember much about him, he knew how to crack jokes back in elementary and intermediate school. He was a singer, he loved music. That was just about all the things Ava could say about him.
Her body jerks a little when the car suddenly stops. “Honey we’re here!” Her mother says.
She looked up at the house they’re going to be living in and it’s definitely not the prettiest thing on the block. There are vines of ivy growing all around it and the grass looks like it hasn’t been cut in years. The tire swing on the tree is barely hanging on and darkness peeks out of the windows. Ava gulps, it’s intimidating, definitely.
Ava stands outside not knowing what to do while her father brings all the boxes in she’s been quite skinny growing up, with her five foot seven frame, she was skinny and scrawny. Her childhood consisted of her bumping into things and bruising for weeks. Thus is this why her parents don’t trust her with furniture.
She gets startled when footsteps approach her, a twig snaps and she flinches. Ava looks over to see a teen who’s about an inch or two taller than her, his messy brown hair is everywhere and he seems very familiar.
“Baekhyun?” She tilts her head.
The guy chuckles and shakes her head. “No, I’m Kai.” His angelic smile seems to put Luhan’s smile to shame.
Back at home, Luhan and Ava had a thing. Luhan was a senior as well; he was popular amongst the girls. Ava was one of the few who had caught his eye. They weren’t exactly dating but they had a thing for each other. They did like each other; it was just the moving that prevented them from being together.
“Oh…I…Sorry, maybe it’s the hair.” Ava stammered.
“Ah, so you know Byun Baekhyun too eh? He just moved here a month ago, he’s a pretty chill dude.” Kai chuckled. “Where’s your new house?”
Ava pointed to the house in front of her.
Kai nodded in silence. “Oh…This house.” He cringed.
“What’s wrong with it?” Ava raised an eyebrow.
“The Wu Family. Google it.” Kai said quietly. “I’ll see you around!” He said before he continued walking.
Ava walked into her new house, something was weird about it. Maybe it was the way the floors would creek when she walked or the way the lights would dim all of a sudden. It was plain and empty, with cardboard boxes everywhere. She sat in the living room; the only clean place.
After dinner, the house was almost cleaned completely. While her parents were outside cleaning up the lawn, she sat on the couch and flipped the TV on. The sounds from the old sitcoms kept her company while she tried to get her phone to connect to the internet. Maybe it’s time she give Baekhyun a text.
She frowned when her internet didn’t connect. The old light above her dimmed and the TV started getting all scratchy.
That’s when Ava noticed the angel statue in the corner of the room.
