The Wedding Planner
Description
Calls rang around the house, but instead of being a nuisance, most of them were calls I'm expecting. Calls from bakeries, from wedding dress rentals, hotels etcetera. You might think I'm getting married, but I'm far away from one. I do something related to weddings though: I plan them.
It's one of the jobs you wouldn't think of as a suitable career if ever you're asked, I did too. But I love dealing with the responsibility of planning one of the most important milestones in a person's life. It requires a lot of patience, negotiation and persuasion in dealing with couples who are nervous about how their wedding will go. In my whole career as a wedding planner I think I've heard and experienced almost everything: Bridezillas, runaway brides, last-minute cancellations or appointments, the bride or groom late because they were too drunk the night before. The list goes on but that never stopped me from pursuing this.
As just a wedding planner, I make sure to distance myself from the personal lives of the clients whose weddings I plan. I build a wall between personal and strictly business, and I always keep it that way. But it shatters when I meet my new client.
