Nodus Tollens
Description
Nodus Tollens:
n. the realization that the plot of your life doesn’t make sense to you anymore—that although you thought you were following the arc of the story, you keep finding yourself immersed in passages you don’t understand, that don’t even seem to belong in the same genre—which requires you to go back and reread the chapters you had originally skimmed to get to the good parts, only to learn that all along you were supposed to choose your own adventure.

Tiffany was a very peculiar girl.
“Apples are sweet.” Tiffany held up her half eaten one in the air. “They’re sweet and some can be sour. They’re delicious and crisp to the very crunch when you bite into them. They’re juicy and the skin has an almost leafy taste…. And then you bite into it and it’s sweet, then you get to the middle and it has these black ugly seeds.”
“But without them the apples couldn’t grow. You know?”
Taeyeon was always there to try and understand her.
“I can’t really look anybody in the eye. I like photography. But I also really like arts you know? Painting, dancing, singing.” Taeyeon said, “I at swimming, I’m afraid to drown one day and I think I’ll die alone.”
“If we still know each other when you’re dying.” Tiffany brought her knees up to her chest, resting her forehead against them. “You won’t die alone.”
Tiffany never understood why.
