fourteen; not a goodbye
Some Girls Have All the Luck
Mina sighed in relief the moment she stepped inside the house...her house. She missed the living room, the kitchen, her bathroom, her room, and everything that was inside this house. She missed being here. It was like she was gone for a year. One long, painful years...even though it was only days.
"You are finally home," Mrs Oh spoke behind her. The three of them, including Mr Oh, were in the middle of the living room.
With tears Mina turned around. "Thank you, auntie." She told her. "I won't be able to go back here without your help. I'm really grateful. I would be forever in debt to you."
"No, Mina." She said. "We are the most grateful because you help papa. It's rare to find people these days that are willing to donate their blood to strangers."
"I'm happy to help." She said, smiling.
"When you need somethin, don't hesitate to call us." An old man's voice suddenly called out from the door. And when they turned, they saw the older Mr Oh.
"Grandpa..." She muttered as he walked to where they stood.
"I'm happy that you're now finally home." He said as he hugged her like she was one of his granddaughter. "You're no longer be bullied by the twins. Yes, I know what they did to you, Mina-yah. And I'm so sorry for that."
"I'm willing to forget about it, grandpa." She said as she pulled away. "It was all in the past now. Don't worry about it."
"You are a nice girl. Your parents must be very proud of you because they brought you up well." He said and Mina smiled at that. A feeling of happiness mixed with sadness washed her soul. She suddenly missed her family.
"Well, this isn't a goodbye Mina-shi." Mrs Oh in, smiling at her. "Definitely not."
"You can call us anytime. Remember that," Mr Oh said.
"Thank you, uncle." She said and he patted her head.
Mrs Oh hugged her and she unabashedly hugged her back. "Take care of yourself, okay? Remember, we're always here when you need us."
"Thanks you, auntie.
