A+, B-
graphic review

Welcome to A+, B- Graphic Reviews + Tutorials. Everyone and anyone is warmly welcomed here. All I ask is that you be respectful to me, and to everyone else here. If there's something you think either I or someone else can do to improve (whatever it may be) please let us know in a nice, manner-ful(I'm pretty sure that's not a word, but I'm still going to use it) way.

Here at A+, B- Graphic Reviews + Tutorials (I no longer provided tutorials, sorry), I've ventured out of the typical reviewing system. Here, (although I used to) I don't give out number scores, or letter scores (despite the shop's title). Here, I simply tell you (basically and almost) anything/ everything you want to know; whether that be, "How can I improve setting the 'mood' for my piece,"or "What type of typography/fonts should I use for this type of piece,"or "What types of colors should I use as my color scheme for this certain type (of piece)/ mood?" I let you know what I think are your strong points, and what seems to be weaker points that could use revision.

I try to be as honest as I can, and sometimes that can come off as rude or cocky. So let me warn you right now, that if that tone does come across to you in your review, I apologize for sounding like that. What I type, what advices I give you, my opinions are purely just MY opinions. You in no way, shape or form have to follow my advice, that is your decision. But, if you ask, I will be honest.

I, in no way, shape or form think I am better, or smarter than anyone else. I do not believe I am on a higher status than anyone else. If my name is out there, was out there, will be out there, I do not think that I am "higher" than anyone else. I am, as everyone else here, a (used to be) graphic designer who still has a long way to go and a lot to learn. So do not interpret my reviews as: bashing, putting down, speaking lowly of, etc... I do my best to treat everyone equally.

I want to stress this: If you think that your piece/ work is THE MOST AMAZING THING YOU'VE SEEN but someone tells you that your work is not an A+ work, or a 100% work, that's okay. That's their own opinion and they are entitled to their own opinion. You have your opinion, stick with it if you don't like theirs. Don't be discouraged if someone tells you your work is not top-notch or good enough to get your name out there. Take their criticism and use that to improve.

If you want to be a top-notch designer and get your name known/ famous through AFF (or wherever) you need to work hard and take people's criticism and use that to grow. If someone says something negative about your work and then you get wounded by that, you're not going to go anywhere. Keep that in mind.

Foreword

who am i,

I am taesee.

I have been an AFF member for five years (and counting. Since Sept 26, 2010) now and have designed for AFF purposes for about 3 years (roughly since Jan. 31, 2012). Although I've been a member since 2010, I have not been active for the past year (?)(I at keeping track of dates and stuff), and I am no longer an active graphic designer, although my love for it is still pretty strong.

I started out as an author on AFF, and about a year- maybe two- later, I realized that although I have great story plots and ideas, and enough creativity to write a decent novel, I just don't have the patience, dedication and commitment to continue on as an author. So, I looked around AFF and found graphic designers/ graphic designing.

Unexposed to Photoshop, I started out with Pixlr, a free online photoediting website that is somewhat similar to GIMP & Photoshop, recommended to those who are curious about the work of graphic designer's and would like a shot at it but isn't committed yet to downloading PS (or GIMP). I worked with Pixlr for roughly half a year. New to the whole graphic world, I took tutorials/lessons from Indesign which at the time was ran by Mary517, and MusicChibi. Soon after I met BabyCopGurl, who nudged me into downloading PS CS4. From there for the next 3(ish) years, I experimented and became a graphic designer for AFF authors.

If there is anything else you would like to know about me, please feel free to drop a comment down below, leave a post on my wall, or PM me, and I will do my best to answer you as quickly as I can.

Title: Footsteps on the Ceiling
Anything Else? I've always had a problem with my posters being either too busy or too simplistic... Is this one too busy? And is the fontwork legible?

Chapter 8: Thank you for the review! It's really helpful, and it will definitely help me improve my works. I really like the way you give the review, because it's so detailed and you didn't give only critics but also tips on how to make it better. Again, thanks a lot and happy new year! (It's the 2nd of January but meh close enough)

Chapter 7: thank you for your review!! haha i didnt notice that sehun was that far up that it looks weird until now, and the right side being darker etc etc

thanks for pointing it out! will take note in the future~~

and also, thank you for giving such a long detailed review! went to other review shops for this poster before and all they gave was
" font _/5, color _/5, notes: nothing much blah blah blah" like the review was only 5 lines :/

notes: I've been dabbling on blending posters a little bit, so can you comment on my blending? typography is also my weak point, so i'd be happy if you can comment on that, too.

Chapter 9: First, I would like to apologise profusely for the late response, I wasn't really active in AFF graphic designing ever since the start of the year, so I have to apologise for not checking story updates. I'm 6 months late? I'm so sorry >_<

I have a lot of things to say regarding the review. Overall, I find it very detailed, knowledgeable and resourceful; I seriously learnt a lot. I guess after reading your review, I have this strong will to start graphic designing again with all these wonderful tips that I can try to improve on. I totally love the way you gave me some examples, I will take more notice on the light that is at Chanyeol's nose. After you picked that out, I found that very awkward. In future, I will try not to erase any necessary images for the characters as it did look very weird.

Thank you so much for the advices, I will take the advices into hard and I do hope I can get to request again in the near future. I have to apologise once again for this late reply, sorry and thank you!:)

Chapter 10: Wow... I'm really thankful for this detailed and precise review.I must admit that I had placed the pictures randomly. I didn't really care about how the coffee looks at the back (oops) but now that you mentioned, it does look like a plate ._."
I will definitely change the canvas size now that you mentioned and I guess I'm still not quite use to psd yet.
I will work harder on the typography part and maybe find some time to redo this poster.
I feel so embarrassed about the oc without arms... It's more like the requester's request to use the oc. I should have changed it.
Last but not least, thank you for the advices!! I will try them out^^
Thank you♥
