Friendship is a powerful word and feeling. It's a knot that once tied, it stays forever like that. Nothing can untie it, nothing can cut it or break it. Friendship is like a guiding hand when the road is bumpy ahead, like a candle that manages to do what the sun does during the day - illuminate the darkness all around the soul after midnight. Having friends liberates the soul and keeps the spirit alive, but having one best friend keeps you alive and afloat even then the whole world turns against you. It's your life buoy, the very core of love and Go Seon Yul, Miss Nobody, knew that when she met Lee Chaelin.
Love is even more powerful. It proved many times over the centuries that it blindes people and makes them act out of their character. Love pushes their limits, testing new teritory, seeking to occupy more and more of the mind. It's like a poison that spreads through the blood, like a disease that takes over the mind and over the body. Love is dangerous and Lee Chaelin, Miss Popularity, knew that when she first set her eyes on the bad boy, Kim Jongin.
And then there's obsession, the dark peak of both friendship and love. Obsession is the breaking point where everything starts crumbling down and you start walking on a path from where you cannot return. And Park Chanyeol, the IT geek, knew that the moment Kim Jongin swung his fist for the first time and he also knew that he'd do anything to keep him away from Go Seon Yul.
But life is one tangled string. And all they did, all they felt, every word they said, every gesture they made, every push, every pull, every hope and dream, all of their tears and all of their laughter - they did nothing else but untangle the red strings of her fate...

It’s said that even the most obvious plot of a book can completely take you by surprise if the proper twist is added at the right time.
I think it’s the same with life. You lead your life by your own rules, by the rules of the society, by the rules others have already implemented before you were born: you wake up in the morning, brush your teeth, change your clothes while listening to the MC at the radio that tells stupid jokes, then you drink your coffee or some other type of hot liquid invented for the sake of your sanity during a cloudy Monday and then you head out for what is another day of your life.
It’s pretty much the same for everybody, with small differences here and there.
It’s what I call a damn routine that makes you forget what a wonderful human being you are and how many things you can do in just one day, without being stuck inside or having to obey any rules.
But that’s life – just like the obvious plot of a mandatory book you had to read during high school, life passes before your eyes, day by day, minute by minute, second by second…
“Ready or not here we come!”
I just followed her down the white, stony path that led to her white Range Rover. A powerful car she got for her 20th birthday. A car that made me shrink on my place whenever she’d force me to step in.
“So, darling, tell me, how are you and that boy?”
And there we were once again. I never understood why my love life was so freaking important to her anyway! It was a normal and healthy, one year relationship with a colleague from university. It was nothing impressive, unlike her love story…
“We’re alright. You know, like always,” I twirled up the corners of my lips in what was supposed to be a smile. “Are you still seeing him?”
And there it was, the famous, ultra-glamorous and super shiny smile of Lee Chaelin. A 1000 WATT smile that could have blinded anyone, including me, although I was used to seeing it more often than the others.
“Of course! We’re celebrating our fifth monthsary tonight. Ain’t that great?”
I shrugged. So that was the reason of the sudden meet-up, huh? In the end, everything was revolving around that guy that blew off her mind.
“What’s up with the face?”
“I just don’t like the idea of you dating an older guy, Chaelin. And you know that,” I carefully chose my words while looking ahead of us at the dark road. “And if he’d look a little, you know, normal, I’d probably agree with him, but he looks so… so… dangerous and plain bad.”
“Well, I like him for being himself,” she stubbornly pushed her chin forward and I just knew a fight was about to start. “He treats me nicely and is not looking at me just because I have a nice body or money. With him I can be myself without worrying about the world around us. And I’d like if you’d see just how great he can be as well.”
“Why do you want so badly for us to be friends? I just don’t think that’s possible, Chaelin!” I tilted my head. “I worry for you, you know?”
“If you really are the best friend you claim to be, you’d stop being so stupidly and incredibly stubborn and just support me for once! He’s the one I love and I trust him with my life.”
But as I said, even the most obvious of the plots can surprise you with a proper twist at the right moment.
And life, being an unwritten book as it is, is the same – all it needs is the twist and everything changes… It’s all a matter or nanoseconds if you really want to know.
“Chaelin, be careful!”
Does it hurt?
The answer is no.
Does it really change you?
More than you ever thought. It changes you completely and permanently.
