Starring...

You

Your name is Kim Hyomin. You are seventeen, and attend an all-girls school. When you're around other people, you're happy, loud, and always try to make your classmates feel comfortable. But when you're at home, you're reserved and quiet. You don't really have much going on in your life, and some of your friends are finding you boring and abandoning you. Even though you still have two true friends left, you can't help feeling lonely, especially since you're also distant from your family.

Baekhyun

He's your rich and good-looking neighbor. He is currently nineteen, and finished high school in Argentina, where he was an exchange student for two years. He returned four months ago to live with his older brother, Siwon. Even though it would seem like otherwise, he's the opposite of arrogant: humble, nice, loyal, and friendly. He's quite childish, and obsessed with video games. Initially, he's noticed by everybody because of his looks and money, but once they get to know him, his personality wins above everything else.

And more characters...

A message from the author:

I'm currently watching this Korean drama, Flower Boy Next Door (I recommend it to anyone). I got some ideas from there, such as Baekhyun's personality and some other events. But other than that, it's got nothing to do with it. I hope you like this story! Thank you for checking it out :)

How to have a lot of friends| SEARCH

You waited for the page to load, munching on some leftovers you found in the microwave.

About 2,300,000 million results.

Your eyes widened at the number. After scrolling down for a few seconds, you clicked on a blog post.

After reading through some of the instructions, you stumbled across one that flushed your plans down the toilet.

The key is to have good conversations with people. And for you to do that, you need an eventful life. You need things to tell that might interest people. You can't be boring. For example, I got really popular after I got a boyfriend-

You closed your laptop. After staring at the wall in front of you for a few seconds in frustration, you sighed.

Your phone vibrated, and you quickly grabbed it to find one new message on your inbox.

Bomi: Chorong doesn't answer my message!

Eunji: Stop insisting! She has forgotten us. Remember, she now goes to parties and has a new boyfriend... no time for her old friends :/

You still didn't want to accept the fact that Chorong had really abandoned you and your friends. Just three days ago, she was still known as the group's glue. And according to you, she was in amazingly good terms with all of you. But just like Namjoo and Hayoung, she left as soon as more popular girls invited her over to their clique.

You bit your lower lip, quickly typing a message.

Hyomin: I'm sure our glue will soon join the group once again... in another note, do you guys think I'm boring? Be HONEST.

Bomi: Our lives are boring, remember Hyomin?

Eunji: Says the girl who has a kpop idol as an older brother.

Bomi: Says the girl who might soon have a boyfriend.

Eunji: Look, Hyomin... it's not that we're boring, it's just that our lives have not started yet. Why you ask? Think that's why Namjoo, Chorong, and Hayoung have dumped us for the popular girls?

Hyomin: As a matter of fact, yes...

Bomi: T . T

Eunji: Hyomin, when our lives start, I'm sure they'll be worthy of a series. SBS might even pick our life stories up! ㅋㅋㅋ

Bomi: T . T

Eunji: Aish, Bomi!

Yes, your life hadn't started. And you were sure it wouldn't until you met your first love at twenty-four. If you even knew guys by then...

Trying to act like the optimist girl you were known among the group as, you typed another message and pressed send.

Hyomin: ㅋㅋㅋ Yeah, I'm sure we'll have the coolest stories to tell... well, I've gotta go to sleep. See ya tomorrow at school! I hope you all have  nightmares ㅋㅋㅋ

Tossing the phone aside, you flopped back on your bed. Staring at the roof, it was impossible not to reflect on your life.

You'd recently taken notice of how distant you were from everyone. Your homeroom classmates, your fellow piano trainees... even Eunji and Bomi.

Along with those realizations, the fact that you were the most boring girl ever was quite strong, too.

"Why am I so boring?" you asked yourself out loud.

After your friends had left one by one, you'd began to feel that distance and that insecurity even more. After all, you'd always wanted to be the girl that everybody liked, that had many friends, and that everybody knew.

And your reality was the opposite. To make matters worse, you were far from getting to that perfect picture in your head.

After all, you needed one thing, and that was an interesting twist in your monotonous life.

The only unusual things in your life were your family problems, and that wasn't something to share or be proud of.

Wondering how you could make your life more interesting, you slowly dragged your feet to the window. Burying your chin on your forearms, you stared out at the streets behind your neighbor's trees.

Loneliness slowly creeped in.

Nobody really knew your true self. You loved and trusted Eunji and Bomi, but they didn't even suspect how totally different you were from what they had envisioned of Kim Hyomin.

They thought you were some clumsy girl that, in a movie, would be that funny best friend the main lead would have. When in reality, you'd be that quiet student in the back of the class, playing a cameo role in some high school drama. You'd be the girl that would rather listen than speak. You'd be that introvert that would rather stay at home then go out and party all night. And yet, you longed for an eventful social life.

You felt someone glaring at you, but couldn't pay much attention to it because in that moment two cars crashed against each other. Your eyes widened, and you couldn't help but snort when the two drivers jumped out of the cars, cursing at each other.

At least that will make a funny story to tell tomorrow, you said to yourself.

Feeling that your eyes would close out of tiredness any moment now, you began to close the window.

And that's when you noticed your next-door neighbor glaring at you.

Creepy, erted stalker, he mouthed.

You proceeded to notice that all he had on was some panda robe. You widened your eyes and quickly jumped away from the window, closing the curtains shut.

"Did he think I was staring at him change?" you questioned yourself, agape.

In no time, someone furiously began knocking on the door.

"Come out you creeper!" you heard your neighbor exlaim.

You breathed out, "Oh no..."
