Chapter 86
Remind MeChapter 86
After he calmed down a bit from the surprise we both sat down on the bed. He kept analyzing my face as if it was so hard to believe I was there before him.
“How long are you staying?” –He asked and held to my hand tightly as if I were to leave anytime soon.
“Well… Maybe this’ll answer your question.” –Inside the pocket of the pants I was wearing, I had a paper neatly folded and gave it to him.
“What’s this?” –He asked as he opened the letter.
"See for yourself..."
Trying to hold my smile and not give anything away I stood up and let him read the letter, watching his reaction closely.
As he read I saw his lips tremble and a grin along a little dimple slowly forming. He glanced at me over the letter of the new university I would study in.
“Are you serious? What about the film project you were telling me about?” –He asked in disbelief. I was leaning against the desk and I smiled widely.
“I said no. That’s not what I want to do with my life anymore.” –I paused with a big smile in my lips I couldn’t erase I said: “I want to help others just like you and my closest friends.”
Maybe future Youngjae had shaped me more than I imagined, because recalling those words he said, that now had a new meaning to me, I said with no doubt in my heart:
“Also, I realized there’s someone I want to be with; if I were a famous actress I wouldn’t get to spend all the time I want with him, and I would live with regrets.”
After that reassurance, Youngjae put the letter down and walked to me. Again, he picked me up and spun me and with a kiss on my lips he showed me how thankful and happy he was.
My future has been a book filled with surprises, this time I chose my own path… My story wasn’t written, just as Sarah said, the future was my choice.
1 Year later
The place was decorated beautifully, I could feel the romance in the air and I felt like I was watching the ending of a drama and my two favorite characters were now joining their life in holy matrimony.
They looked at each other’s eyes intently, they irradiated the love they felt for each other. From one moment to the other I started to cry. Youngjae was sitting on the other side and glanced at me.
“You okay?” –I read his lips and I nodded. I was more than okay, I was ecstatic to finally see my best friend be so content. Her mom and dad were watching from the audience, her ‘adoptive’ child was there as well. And of course her family outside her family was all there together to share this milestone in her life.
“You may now kiss the bride.”
Yongguk looked down at the beautiful girl before him. He leaned slowly and she closed her eyes waiting for the moment. Gently he kissed her lips, and the whole audience clapped. Their vows were officially sealed and needless it is to say that there were many of us who were crying of happiness and celebrating this special day.
Another year flew by fast, and things were moving by quickly. Youngjae had finished his fourth year of studies and I was just in my second year. But even when he was still very busy with many things, including the fact that he was now along with the boys in a music group Yongguk organized, he made time for me.
Especially today that Yongguk was celebrating his anniversary with Sarah in Jeju Island, Youngjae had the day completely off. From all the things he could do, he was stuck helping me with a difficult test I had. Since I was studying in the same college he did, he helped me a lot, especially in the hardest subjects.
“This’ll help you pass that test… I remember taking that part, and it was really hard.” –Youngjae gave me several pieces of paper all stuck together with a clip and lied down on the bed next to me.
“Thank you so much.” –I was too stressed because of the test that I quickly eyed the papers and compared them to my notes. –“What took you so long to find them?”
“I got a phone call.” –He lied down on his side facing me silently. It wasn’t long enough until I noticed his suspicious behavior since he was the
