A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra (shadow). This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon. The type and length of an eclipse depends upon the Moon's location relative to its orbital nodes. Unlike a solar eclipse, which can only be viewed from a certain relatively small areas of the world, a lunar eclipse may be viewed from anywhere on the night side of the Earth. A lunar eclipse lasts for a few hours, whereas a total solar eclipse lasts for only a few minutes at any given place, due to the smaller size of the moon's shadow. Also unlike solar eclipses, lunar eclipses are safe to view without any eye protection or special precautions, as they are no brighter (indeed dimmer) than the full moon itself.

Only once in a few hundred years during a lunar eclipse does the world of EXO and Earth's moons intertwine to form Two Moons. However, on the day of the semi-annual lunar eclipse, 12 young men shrouded by the tender touch of the night, stood close to a tree of enormous height. Metal trinkets tied with ribbon, rope, or chain to the massive branches gently blew in the wind. As the metal connected to each other, a lilting sound of music resounded throughout the area.

As if it was their own background music, one of the men lowered their hood to reveal a stoic being with a calm demeanor, as he kept his facial expression in check. He glanced over all of his comrades. Feeling himself wonder why the priests from the Tree of Life’s temple called them, Kris turned his head to stare at his fellow leader Suho. The two were the main leaders of the group.

Just as Kris was about to ask a question did one by one all eyes immediately turn skyward to see that the lunar eclipse had begun. Just as the moon began to turn a different color from its normal brightness did Kris realize that their surroundings begin to distort. “What in the…” he began before the world and his brothers vanish from his eyes as the darkness enveloped him into its embrace.
