Jimin raised an eyebrow at the boy in front of him, and leaned over to V to whisper something into his ear. V chuckled and shrugged, signalling that he had no idea either. Jin tilted his head at the two younger ones, “What are you guys doing?”

“Observing Jeon Jungkook's unusual behaviour outside of his natural habitat.” Jimin replied, plastering on an all-too-serious face. V smirked, “This is an unusual case we must document.” Suga raised an eyebrow in amusement, “The hell?” Rap Monster rolled his eyes, “You guys are idiots.” and V scoffed, “It's true though. Have you ever seen him act like this before?”

It was true.

Jungkook's behaviour at the moment was odd.

Scratch that-

Very odd.

The five boys watched as Jungkook took a few steps forward and then took one back as if he was debating whether or not he shoulder moved forward. J-Hope was walking along side him, although normally.

Jungkook had his head down and was staring at his phone while he was thinking about how he should apologize. When he had an idea, he would take a step forward but then when he realized that his idea wouldn't work, he would take a step backwards to rethink it over. He bit his lip in thought.

J-Hope whirled around to face the other guys, allowing Jungkook to walk absentmindedly ahead by himself. Suga clasped his back, “You decided to join the normal ones, huh?” J-Hope snorted, “Normal my . You guys are terrible. You're not even going to give him advice?”

“We thought you were in charge of that.” Jin commented. V nodded in agreement, “Yeah. We gave the job to you so you could do six times as much advice-giving.” J-Hope smacked him on the head, and V winced in pain. He was about to continue walking when he ran into something. Shaking his head to let his bangs fall back into place, he looked up irritably,

“What-”

“I have an idea.”

They watched as Jungkook's face lit up and he literally jumped up in happiness. Jimin scrunched up his face in disgust, and Suga gasped in horror at the youngest one's behaviour. V shivered, “I'm so done. He's creeping the out of me.”

Jungkook turned around to face them all and he grinned, “I know how to make her forgive me. I'll see you guys later!” He waved so giddily, it looked like his arm was going to fall off. Rap Monster slung an arm around V,

“Yeah. I feel that way too.”

“Please don't come back to us until you're normal again!” Jimin hollered after the boy.

Hanuel dried her hands onto her apron and wiped off the drinking machine to prepare the next order. She almost screamed out loud when she felt somebody tap her shoulder, and she whirled around in alarm. Yui hid her lips behind to muffle her giggles and Hanuel sighed in defeat.

“Did you need something?”

“No. I just wanted to bother you.” Yui replied in all-honesty. Hanuel rolled her eyes, but an amused smile lit her face, “As you wish.”

“Hey, where's your super hot model cousin?” Hanuel looked up, “Doing his own things? I haven't seen him for a while but I know that his parents and my parents talk on the phone a lot.” Yui nodded in thought, “It must be cool to have a cousin who's famous.”

“I beg to differ.”

Yui chuckled and ruffled her hair, “Why's that?” Hanuel frowned, “Would you want a cousin who complains about your skin being 'too dry' and 'not hydrated enough' , every single time he sees you?” Yui laughed out loud, “I wouldn't mind if he's that pretty.” Hanuel stuck out her tongue, “That's icky.” Another customer walked in and Yui's attention was pulled away, but after she served him, she turned around to face Hanuel,

“You should be happy! Do you know how many people would want a cousin like that?” Hanuel stuck out her tongue as she wiped off the drink machine, “It's not like he's my brother or anything.” Yui shrugged, “Might as well be.”

“I wish I had a sibling.” somebody cut in. The two girls looked up and chucked. Zelo grinned, flipping his bangs back before handing Hanuel the used trays. Hanuel sighed, “I wish I had a sibling too.” Zelo gasped, “Let's become a family.” Yui raised an eyebrow, “I think she wants a younger sibling. Not you, kid.”

“I am young though, onee-chan*.” Zelo smirked and Yui narrowed her eyes, “Are you indirectly implying something?” Zelo shrugged his shoulders up and down before walking backwards to clear up another table,

“Who knows?”

“You brat!” Yui hissed and Hanuel shook her head in amusement.

After a few more hours, their shift was over and they were standing outside the store under the setting sun. Zelo stifled a yawn as he looked up at his co-workers, “How are you guys getting home?” Yui took out her car keys, “With this. Do you two need a ride?” Hanuel politely shook her head, “I'll bus home, but thank you for the offer.” Yui cooed and ruffled her hair affectionately, “You cutie. Alright then. Zelo can walk for all I care, see you!”

Zelo's jaw dropped, “Onee-chan*! That's rude of you.” Hanuel smiled, “I think she's just playing with you.” He turned to her and grinned, “Yeah. I know.” Then his smile dropped, “Are you really going to take the bus alone?” Hanuel nodded and he raised an eyebrow,

“Where's your boyfriend?”

Her eyes flickered at the question and she bit her lip, “At home? I'll just bus home, no worries. See you Zelo!” He frowned when she started walking, and he had a feeling something happened but he didn't pry any further. Instead, he caught up beside her, “I'll bus with you and transfer to my stop later.” She blinked, “You sure? I'm fine, though.” He nodded, “Yeah, I've already made up my mind. Let's go.”

Just as the two of them made it to the bus stop, they heard someone call out “Hanuel!” from behind. The two of them turned around, and Hanuel's eyes widened in surprise, slight annoyance, and horror. Zelo looked at her expression and a light bulb went off. He stepped back, “I'll go to my own bus stop now that he's here.” She turned around to face him and almost grabbed onto his wrist, “Wait-”

Zelo leaned down, “I think there's something going on, so I'll leave you two love birds alone. I'm not that much of an ignorant jerk, you know?” He took a step and gave her a salute, “Good night, pretty.” Hanuel stood there in shock while he walked away and she dreaded the horror of even turning around.

Jungkook stopped near her back figure and took in a deep breath, “Hanuel, listen.” She kept her head down to listen to what he was going to say.

“I'm sorry. I didn't mean to lash out at you. I didn't know what went through my head at that moment but I just lost it. I didn't mean to yell at you. Sorry for not contacting you earlier but I honestly had no idea what to say.”

Hanuel lifted her head up and turned around. With a sigh, “I understand, Jungkook. I'm fine, and you're forgiven.” His eyes rounded, “Wait what?” Her lips tugged upwards,

“I said you're forgiven.”

“That was it!? You're not going to yell at me and tell me to go away?” He gasped. She furrowed her eyebrows, “Is that what you want me to do?” He shook his head and walked closer to her, grabbing her hands, “Oh hell no.” He smiled as he let go of her hands to wrap his arms around her waist. Hanuel wrapped her own arms around his neck and smiled.

“You know, I'm kind of jealous you were so close to Zelo earlier.” Hanuel rolled her eyes, “Of course you were.”

“I'm not mad anymore, Jungkook. I was surprised, that's all. I'm sorry for leaving you there too.” She confessed.

“I think I really need your support at a time like this. I don't want to do something stupid to push you away.” He admitted. Hanuel nodded and was about to reply, when she remembered.

His dad needs their support too.

Why is he pushing them away?

She stepped back away from his embrace and looked up at him. Jungkook tilted his head at her. He saw the mixed emotions written all over her face and he began to worry, “Is something the matter?” Hanuel looked up and shook her head, “No, nothing.”

He wasn't convinced, but he didn't want to bug her right after she accepted his apology so he slung an arm over her shoulder as the bus came rolling in,

“Let's head home.”

A week had gone by with the Jeon family returning to their normal routine. Everything seemed a bit forced, but they were all fairing better than they were a while ago.

However. For Hanuel, everything seemed to be going downhill. The guilt was practically eating away at her. She didn't know if she should just tell them, or respect Mr. Jeon's wishes. She decided to keep quiet about this for now, because she didn't want to go against his wish.

It was a Sunday evening, and she was lying around on her bed after dinner. She was so deep in thought she almost didn't even hear the knock on her bedroom door. She perked up at the sound and sat up,

“Yeah?”

“Hanuel? Hanuel. Come out now.”

She furrowed her eyebrows at her dad's rushed tone and stepped off her bed to open her bedroom door only to find her mother in his arms and his eyes were wide in fear,

“Mrs. Jeon just called. Jungkook's father is in the neurological surgery room.”

It took her a few seconds to process his words and that's when it hit her

Her heart dropped.

Jungkook felt as if somebody had punched him right in the chest when he picked up the phone from the hospital. He began piecing the things together, and he couldn't help but be angry at his father for wishing to suffer through this alone.

His mother, his sister and himself were sitting outside the surgery room. His sister had fallen asleep after crying herself to sleep, and his mother cradled her safely in her arms. He leaned his head back as he heard his mom cry, and he couldn't help but let his eyes tear up.

“Your father is an idiot.” He heard his mother choke out. He turned to her and wrapped his arms around her and his sister, silently agreeing.

“Why didn't he tell us sooner?! I feel so hopeless at the moment. I even got mad at him thinking he found someone else. Oh god, Jungkook I feel terrible. What are we to do?” Jungkook her back, in hope that she would calm down, “I don't know. I just really hope he wakes up. I don't want him to go through this alone, mom.”

“None of us do.”

The two looked up at the new voice and their eyes widened. Jungkook stared at his uncle in surprise. His mother was shocked as well, seeing as how she had nothing to say. But then she mustered up the courage to ask him,

“Did you know about this the whole time too, Jinwook?” Jinwook, the younger brother of the person currently in the surgery room nodded. Mrs. Jeon's eyes grew wide, “And you never bothered to tell us!?”

“He didn't want anybody to know. He didn't want me to know either, but he called me that day to take him to the hospital a few years ago.” Jinwook admitted. Jungkook's jaw dropped, “How come he didn't tell us?”

“The reason is simple. He didn't want anybody to suffer. He wanted to avoid a situation like the one now.” Mrs. Jeon shook her head in disbelief and let out another cry, “He's an idiot. An idiot!”

“His condition was stable for a while, but the tumour came back.” Jinwook continued as he took a seat parallel to the trio. Jungkook looked up, “When?”

“It was believed to be harmless for four years, but this year, everything went downhill. The malignant tumour spread through his brain cells, and his condition got worse.”

“Is that why he-”

“Yes. That's why he wanted a divorce. He didn't want to make you suffer through his anger tantrums.”

Mrs. Jeon let out a scoff of disbelief as she wiped her tears with her sleeve, “I cannot believe this.” Jungkook wrung his hands together in anxiety.

“Do you think he'll make it, Jinwook?” Said man looked up and his lips curved downwards, “I would be lying if I said yes.”

“I checked in with the nurse, and she said that he had a severe seizure during work. An epilepsy, to be exact. She told me that by the time he came into the emergency room, his hearing and vision was already partly lost.“

Jungkook stood up abruptly at the news, and the two adults looked up. He gave them a weak smile,

“I need some fresh air.”

Hanuel almost ran into somebody after she found out the room number that Jungkook's father was in. She looked up at the person to apologize and her eyes widened,

“Jungkook-”

He looked up at her voice, and his voice shook, “Hey.” Her heart broke at the sight of his tears, and her parents came up behind her. They gave her a pat on the back, notifying her that they would head to the surgery room first. She nodded, as she led Jungkook outside.

The two stood in the hospital gardens, and he laid his forehead onto her shoulder. She felt her sweater soak up his tears, but said nothing as she let the boy vent out his emotions.

It took a few minutes until he finally calmed down, and he pulled away. He wiped his eyes with his sweater.

“My dad's brother said that he probably won't make it. I don't now what to do. This happened so suddenly I don't even know what to feel anymore.”

She didn't know how to respond, so instead she pulled him in for a hug. He almost cried again, but he stopped himself. He pulled back and let out a shaky breath,

“I want to go back now. In case the surgery ends.”

She nodded at his request, and they walked back into the building.

By the time they got there, the adults were sitting around in silence- excluding Junghwa who was still asleep. Jungkook sat back down and Hanuel stood beside her parents.

They all sat there in silence for a good half an hour, before Jungkook noticed that the light went off. He jolted up and the adults looked up as well. Hanuel's mother went over to pick up Junghwa while Mrs. Jeon ran over to the doctor who came out, taking off his gloves.

“How is my husband?”

“Who are you to him?” He asked. “I'm his wife.” She replied. Jungkook walked up behind her and shakily put a hand on her shoulder. The doctor stepped back and gave her a slight bow,

“I'm sorry. We couldn't save him.”
