Prologue

“What happened to you four?” Her eyes widen seeing how two of them had bruises on their body, one had her clothes all dirtied and one was crying with tears all over her face.

“Umma!” The girl with two ponytails cried. She was wearing a lovely cute pink one-piece dress with a matching headband. She quickly ran and hugged her umma.

“Shhhh…. It’s alright umma is here.” She shushed the poor girl hugging her tightly in between her arms. “What happened?” Her voice went stern and the she looked straight at the oldest one.

“The kids in school were teasing us.” The oldest scoffed and coolly shoved her hands in her jeans pocket.

“That is not a reason to fight with them. You are the oldest and I expect you to look after your little sisters.” She was not amused by the answer given by the oldest one. She was expecting her kids to behave better and ignored those naughty kids.

“Umma you can’t blame us they were saying very bad things about us, about you.” The youngest one spoke trying to help her unnie out of the trouble.

“No matter what they say you shouldn’t fight with them.” She scolded but inside she felt hurt seeing her kids like this.

“But…” The youngest tried to protest but was stopped by the second oldest one.

“You three go wash up first.” She sighed and decided to drop the lecture. The three restlessly heads to the bathroom and do what their umma says.

The second youngest one has now stopped crying. She was resting her head against her umma’s stomach.

“Umma, how come all our surnames are different but we’re a family?” She lifted her head and asked.

Seeing her big round watery eyes Victoria was speechless. She doesn’t know how to explain their unrelated family-bond to her kids.

They are too young to understand.

But although they are all unrelated biologically but they are a family and Victoria loves them all like it’s her own bared children.
