Is age really a number?

Chanyeol is Baekhyun's sun. 

Baekhyun thinks he can't live without Chanyeol. No, scratch that, Baekhyun knows he cannot live without Chanyeol. Chanyeol's comforting scent, his sunny smile, and his ridiculously large, warm hands are the things that help pull Baekhyun through life. 

Chanyeol was there for Baekhyun every moment of his life.

Ever since Baekhyun appeared from his mother's womb, Chanyeol had always been there. Chanyeol was there, wiping his face gently, when Baekhyun cried his first tears. Chanyeol was there, holding his tiny hand, when Baekhyun took his first baby steps. Chanyeol was there, smiling so broadly, as Baekhyun spoke his first words.

Chanyeol was there, soothing his sobbing self, when Baekhyun had fallen down from a swing. Chanyeol was there, comforting him, when Baekhyun was standing outside the school gate during the first day of school. Chanyeol was there, just there, whenever Baekhyun needed someone to be with.

Chanyeol was there, right beside him, when Baekhyun woke up screaming, sweat dripping down his face and neck. Chanyeol was there, his smile so reassuring, when Baekhyun felt so utterly insecure and uncertain about life. Chanyeol was there, pulling him into his chest for a scorching hug, when Baekhyun needed someone to depend on.

Baekhyun is Chanyeol's pillar.

Chanyeol thinks that without Baekhyun, he should have probably be gone by now. Baekhyun was the sole reason why Chanyeol  decided to push on with life; to continue living with all that he had. 

Ever since he saw Baekhyun in that crib, his small, weak breaths misting into the air, Chanyeol knew he had to protect Baekhyun. 

Chanyeol watched how Baekhyun would crack open his tiny eyes, peering at the world through those tiny slits. He watched how Baekhyun would cry hoarsely, tearlessly, his throat erupting into wails. He watched how Baekhyun would stretch out his skinny little arms towards his mother for a hug. And someday, he vowed, he would be the one Baekhyun would be stretching those arms towards to.

Chanyeol watched how Baekhyun's eyes smiled as he laughed, the merry sound flooding into his heart in waves of happiness. Chanyeol watched how Baekhyun grew taller inch by inch, his cheeks flushed a healthy pink , his eyes glittering. Chanyeol watched how Baekhyun slept, his soft lashes brushing across his lower eyelids, his breaths vulnerable as a newborn.

When tears pooled in Baekhyun's eyes, Chanyeol was always the first one to wipe them away. When Baekhyun fell, Chanyeol was always the first one to rush to him, first aid kit in his hand. When Baekhyun screamed in his sleep during a nightmare, Chanyeol was always the one who chased them away.

It was no wonder that the two of them began to fall in love.
