Kapre, a creature of fire in Philippine mythology. He looks human but his pipe is seducing.
He can choose to lure women to their fates just by smell, he lures them to their fates.
He has a belt to remain invisible and avoids being caught by humans.
But who is causing him to lure young beautiful women? And what do they want with them?
A mousetrap. A lure of delicious smelling food that humans use to lure mice and rats out of their hiding place. Its springs are blind and aren't biased.
And what happens to these women once caught?

Foreword
Hana munched on her strawberry Danish while looking over the case file she put together.
She had just finished some witness questioning, and they had all reported the same thing.
They all had a sweet scent left behind from where their friends disappeared.
One girl had stopped quickly into a convenience store and her friend waited for her outside but once she came out, she was gone.
Hana took another bite of the Danish and pondered the thought. Was it really possible for a sweet scent to be left behind after a person's disappearance?
The only problem was that the smell seemed to differ from witness to witness.
One said blueberries, another said warm vanilla, and one even said strawberries.
But with all the different stories, it was getting hard to believe that there was even a scent there.
Hana looked over the reports once again, she couldn't believe that so many girls were going missing, and they never seemed to appear again.
Where were they heading off to? Where were they being kept?
What if they never really disappeared at all?
Her cell phone rang and she finished the last bite of her pastry before answering.
"Hello?"
It was the call she dreaded, another girl went missing.
---
Hana had walked the street, without realizing that the sky had grow dark on her.
She walked down an alleyway and tried to find clues as to where the last girl had disappeared to.
She had found nothing, but as she continued walking she felt the lure.
The witnesses hadn't been lying, she could tell, there was a very distinct scent of strawberries in the air and that was also her favorite smell.
As her mind connected the dots, she figured that maybe the girls had been smelling their favorite scents as well, that's why their reactions were all different.
"Damn." She cursed under her breath, walking into something she couldn't see.
She knew it what this meant.
She would be the next to go.
