She’d spent long hours securing deals and helping brainstorm ideas for her brother’s company.   These days, she was working extra hard to get more clothes and belongings for L. Joe, on top of paying her rent. Seeing him wear the same one or two outfits everyday made her feel guilty.   “Hello,” she politely greeted the security guard, despite her fatigue. The guard looked up from his paper for a split second before raising an eyebrow.
“You’ve come back late again,” he gruffly responded.   “Late shift,” Miyoung gave him a lopsided grin, “Got to work to keep food on the table.”   The guard let out a hint of a smile before returning his gaze to the paper, “Hurry and get some rest. You won’t get paid if you end up falling asleep on the job, no matter how spirited you are.”   “I will~” She chorused and bid him a good evening before she stalked off into the elevator. When the doors closed, Miyoung struggled to keep her eyes open and let out a loud yawn.   At that moment, a short, harmonious tune played, signalling a new text message.   To: Miyoung From: Eunji-sshi   U home yet?   Miyoung scratched the side of her head and swiftly replied with a short ‘yes’.   To: Miyoung From: Eunji-sshi   Man, can’t you send a longer message? -_- I’m pooped. I can’t believe we had to secure ten deals all by tonight! It’s a miracle we finished before 1.   Miyoung let out a sleepily grin and typed, ‘agreed’.   Seconds later, the bell rang again, just as Miyoung stepped out of the elevator.   To: Miyoung From: Eunji-sshi   Wow. Phenomenal. =____= I’m going to sleep. You get some rest too! You must be half-dead by now, working crazy shifts like this every day! :(   After seconds of pondering, she paused in front of her apartment door and wrote, ‘okay’.   To: Miyoung From: Eunji-sshi   Don’t make me come over there and force you to write more than a one-word reply. I swear I will!   Miyoung giggled a bit and smoothed out her phone screen, ‘understood’.   Not even a minute passed before the reply arrived.   To: Miyoung From: Eunji-sshi   Just shut up and go to sleep.   Miyoung let out a small chortle and smiled at the message. *Silly Eunji.* She knew that her co-worker-slash-friend was just worried about her, although her words could come out harsh or strong sometimes.   Miyoung had to admit—she was returning home exhausted these days. Yonghwa was constantly trying to limit her working hours, but Miyoung refused to stop. Although her brothers were well off, Miyoung didn’t want to mooch off of them just because she was their sister. Her pride wouldn’t let her. She’d buy her own necessities with her own, hard-earned money.   She’d already learned the lesson of saving up and earning your own riches when her uncle was still alive. He wasn’t necessarily rich, and they lived in a slightly poorer area. She remembered him working his off to keep up with the children’s needs. Even during those dark times, K.
