Prologue:

"JIHYEEEE!" 

I skidded off downstairs quickly. I know how horrible the face of my stepmother would be if I wouldn't be there in front of her after 10 seconds. 

I wiped the sweat on my forehead and stood straight in front of my stepmother. She glared at me and tossed two dresses with horribly stitched edges.

"We need that for the company party of The Kim's. It should be nicely hung inside our closets by tomorrow, ARASSO?" She hissed as she went outside with her evil daughter. 

I quickly ran upstairs and put the two dresses inside the washing machine. I went off to my room to iron the new shirts that my stepsister, Hye Rin, bought just a few days ago. Just because we're stinking rich doesn't mean she has to buy new shirts for consecutive days.

The mother and daughter went to the mall to shop AGAIN today.

Well, this is my life. 

My mom died when I was seven and dad remarried when I was eight. After that, Dad died of cardiac arrest when I was ten. So, I've been stuck with my stepmother and Hye Rin unnie for ten years already. Dad left companies for us to own. Hye Rin and her mom had successfully governed their own company, while I hadn't even touched mine. My stupid stepmother had changed a bit of the last will of my Dad and put there that I would be able to meddle with my own company's matters when I turned 19. I'm 18, so it's only one more year.

Besides that, My stepmother treats me like a slave. She makes me do all the house chores, doesn't even let me eat with them, and isn't even proud of me when I became the first in class. She's more like my master rather than my mother.

And, Hye Rin? She treats me as if I was trash. And, a doll. She'll always tell me about what happened in her life day after another, and tells me that she pities me because I was born STUPID and UGLY. Well? Ugly your , Hye Rin.

But, sometimes, Hye Rin does defend me from my stepmother. Well, that's when she's not in the mood to bully me.

We have a big house with lots of rooms, even though we're only three people. We made the other rooms the laundry room, the movie room, the closet room (because Hye Rin has TONS of clothes and shoes), and etc.

I finished ironing Hye Rin's shirts, so I folded them nicely. I went to the laundry room to get the dresses, and hung it outside for it to dry. I'm going to iron it tomorrow.

I made sure that all the eletrical appliances were turned off before I got my bag and left the house.

I ran towards the small animal gallery that Uncle Kim (my real blood uncle) built. I was the caretaker of the animal gallery for three hours. My stepmother had no objection to it because she finally had the chance not to see my face.

"Good afternoon, little puppy! And to you,too, you cute kitten! Are you getting enough carrots, rabbit? Oh! Did you catch all the flies, frog? And fox, did you eat your lunch? How was the chicken, fox?" I greeted the animals one by one. There were more animals inside. In the amphibians zone, there were lizards and more frogs (we couldn't really keep snakes so we decorated it with stuffed snakes). In the domestic zone, puppies and cats were thereAnd, also rabbits. They often argue, so we had to put them on different sides. In the dangerous-in-the-wild zone, we had little foxes and lions (again, with the separation). 

It was only a small animal gallery for the people to see and interact with the animals, so we didn't have much animals.

And, I was also the teacher for summer learning classes here. If they wanted to learn how to be able to survive in the wild, then it would be necessary if they took classes with me.

Some would also volunteer to work with me during summer. I've already encountered several people: Mrs. Han, Kyu Jong oppa, The old couple Mr. and Mrs. Kim, etc. Oh, and there's also one boy who volunteered but I never got to know his name because he didn't talk much and he disappeared right after the first day.

I went to the counter to get the food for the animals. There was a big bag of poultry for the foxes and lions, and a whole stack of carrots for the rabbits. I put dog food and cat food in a big bowl so that the puppies and the kittens would be able to eat together. I opened my bag and put the bottle full of flies inside the Amphibians Zone(it's a closed zone). I opened the bottle and immediately ran out.

Someone opened the door.

Oh, I just remembered. A family would be visiting here today. I greeted them politely, and went off to tour them inside the animal gallery. The kids were filled with awe. I smirked proudly to myself as I introduced them to the animals.

After about fifteen minutes, the tour was finished. They bought some souvenirs and went out. I put the money that they gave me inside the counter and locked it. Safe and sound.

I stared at all the animals in their different zones.

"If only you could become people... I wouldn't be so lonely here after all." I muttered to myself and smiled.
