Forbidden Boys

Eunbi stared up at the ceiling, moving to form the lyrics of the song she was listening to, all so she would forget about the trip they were now being shipped off to by bus. It would be yet another first, since she’d never before slept in a tent, and it was safe to say she wasn’t looking forward to it. Not when there were bugs and other disgusting insects in the woods. A gentle nudge in the side had her turning toward Ahbin and she pulled the earphones out just in time to hear the other girl speak, “do you think there’ll be any activities?” Eunbi thought about it for awhile, and came to the conclusion they better have prepared some sort of activity, because she was not going to stay there for twenty four hours and do nothing. “I hope so.” laughter escaped Ahbin’s lips all of a sudden and it didn’t take long before she knew why, “you seem really enthusiastic.” well, there were so many other places she’d rather visit than a camping site, something that became even more obvious when the bus came to a stop a few minutes later and their homeroom teacher yelled out for everyone to get off.

It was pretty much chaos on and around the yard where all the buses stood parked, which was rather understandable considering the amount of students. The mass of people ended up separating the two girls from each other and Eunbi squeezed herself past students and teachers alike in search for Ahbin, whom she later found under a tree together with Yixing and another boy. “I’m so relieved to see you.” the other girl said and hurried to wrap her arms around Eunbi before continuing, “I hope you’re not mad that I waited here? I mean, I thought it would be better instead of us both running around in circles.” none of that matter anymore, not when Yixing stood right in front of her with a bright expression on his face. “It’s okay. I’m not mad.” getting lost and separated from one another was a pretty normal occurrence and nothing Eunbi paid too much attention to. It happened to everyone once in awhile.

“Ah what a relief.” Ahbin pulled away after that and returned to stand next side Yixing, “oppa, let’s be tent neighbours.” watching her friend make cute faces and showing aegyo had the girl nearly gawking in surprise. It was a display of character so different from the one Eunbi was used to see from Ahbin, and she couldn’t help but to feel a bit jealous at their close relationship, more so since her friend clung onto the male. “I don’t know. What do you think?” Yixing turned to his best friend, thus asking whether it was okay. “Yeah, sure.” the still nameless male stated with a shrug of his shoulders, and it didn’t take many seconds for Ahbin to shine up like a sun, “great.” and so it was decided. Yixing and his friend would put their tent next to Ahbin and her’s. “It’s okay with you Eunbi, right?” the question was unexpected and she felt her pulse increase because all of a sudden was Yixing staring directly at her, his warm gaze meetings hers. “Y -yeah, that’s fine.” how could she possibly deny an opportunity like that?

Fifteen minutes later the students were at the camping site, the more part of them complaining about the weather or how heavy their luggage were. All in all, it was incredibly irritating and Eunbi wanted no more than to put her earphones in place and blast up the volume so she wouldn’t have to hear it. She couldn’t do so though, since Ahbin was going on about everything revolving the trip and what the teachers might’ve decided upon. Eunbi wasn’t too sure what to believe and instead nodded her head whilst glancing over to Yixing, who laughed at something his friend said. And just like that did a smile lit on her own lips.

“Everyone settle down and listen. I’ll be going through some rules and other things you have to know -.” impatient students interrupted the teacher and told him to cut to the chase so they could put up the tents. “As I was saying. There are some rules we expect you to follow and I want you all to listen clearly now, because I’m only going to say this once.” in the midst of it all Eunbi found herself distracted by Luhan, who’d somehow ended up together with his friends pretty close to where she was standing, because she overheard him talking about having brought alcohol along. He’d have to be really stupid if it ended up being true. On the other hand, it could serve as a way to blackmail him. “You’re a genious Eunbi.” she whispered to herself, completely oblivious that someone else was watching her, and it wasn’t until Ahbin elbowed her in the side that she remembered about the teacher and what he was supposed to say. But it was already too late, as everyone were making way to fix their tents. “Come on, let’s go,” Ahbin pulled at her arm, obviously eager to get moving, “Yixing and Kai are waiting for us.” that was all Eunbi needed to hear to forget about Luhan.

Getting the tent up was another deal though, since it required skills she didn’t posses, “this is impossible.” Eunbi threw the small stakes to the ground, frustrated at not being able to get them in place, “how are you even supposed to do this?” she looked at Ahbin, who shrugged her shoulders, “I have no idea.” the other girl was just as clueless as Eunbi, something that created trouble for the two because a loud rumble tore through the campsite and she glanced up at the sky. Dark clouds were building up and Eunbi was more than certain it would start raining any minute.

“We have to hurry or all our things will get wet.” Eunbi stated before watching as the other girl ran up to Yixing, “oppa. We need help.” the older male turned to face Ahbin and their tent, which was still laying on the ground in pieces, “tsk, tsk. I thought you if anyone would be able to put it up.” Yixing said with a smile, and Eunbi couldn’t help but to become even more envious of Ahbin and the easy going, carefree relation they seemed to have to one another. It was an experience she was yet to have. “And you should know it’s always my father who fixes the tent when we’re out camping. Not me.” Ahbin retorted with a laugh, and somewhere deep down Eunbi was starting to wonder what kind of relationship they held. The two of them knew each other a bit too well for her liking, something she would never admit though. Not when Ahbin was the only friend she had. “I know, I know. I’m just kidding with you.” it was all so sweet and Eunbi felt sick to her stomach at the thought of them being more than friends. Those thoughts were cut short though, by the droplet of cool water that landed on her cheek. It was yet another reminder that the rain was on its way. And the pending downpour created a big enough problem for the two of them, their tent and belongings.

True that. It took less than a minute for the sky to open and for it to rain cats and dogs, something that had students all around them screech and run for their tents to take cover. Eunbi however, stood rooted to the spot, staring down at their own unfinished tent whilst the liquid began soaking into her clothes. “Eunbi. Here.” she spun around, only to see that Ahbin was already sitting in the males’ tent and motioning for her to get in there as well. It was an opportunity Eunbi grabbed onto immediately even though she knew it would be cramped. “Move over so she can get in.” everyone listened to the instruction and soon enough was Eunbi packed into the limited space that were supposed to be for two people. But were now crowded with double the amount it was designed for. “I would’ve brought a bigger tent if I’d known it would be like this.” Yixing joked, to which Ahbin laughed, “like the one your family used when we went to Jungnang.” great. Now they were telling inside jokes she didn’t understand and Eunbi couldn’t help but to frown. But as she sat there it suddenly dawned on her, how awful she was being toward Ahbin for acting so jealous, and it made her feel even worse about herself. She had no right to behave as such if the other girl was interested in Yixing.

“You’re not from around here, right?” the sudden question took Eunbi by surprise, especially since she hadn’t expected for anyone beside Ahbin to speak to her, and it was safe to say she was even more taken aback that Yixing noticed her dialect. “No,” hesitantly and with a fluttering heart did she look up to meet his gaze, “I’m from Daegu.” he nodded his head with a smile, “cool.” and Eunbi felt her cheeks heaten and hurried to look elsewhere, embarrassed that he would see her blush, something that, much to her horror, was revealed by Ahbin, “awh, Eunbi is blushing.” mortified by the revelation she slapped her hands over her face, as if that would be of any help. It wasn’t of course, since it only made it more obvious and incredibly awkward for Eunbi, who averted her gaze and stared out on the grassfield and their flattened tent. And there, right next to it lay all the packing they’d brought with them on the trip. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Eunbi noticed that she’d forgotten to zip her backpack close, something that now allowed the copious amount of rain to drench all her stuff.

I kinda sad actually that most of my fav fics are gone its either bc of the author deactivated their acc or put it in draft (revamp reason) or more heartbreaking, they just delete it (T_T)
