Going Well

Touch of Fear

It was unbelievable. Things were going fairly well after they had confronted Sehun's parents. A few days had passed and they hadn't been called to his parents again nor had Sehun gotten into a fight. In fact, his parents remained relatively quiet ever since, having accepted Sehun's decision. Miyoung had been missing during school, reported to be sick, and slowly the news of the new couple was spreading. Of course not everything was perfect and idyllic; there were still things to worry about. For Mr. Lee, Miyoung's father, had been unpleasantly surprised about the sudden canceling of the plans for their children to become more than just “friends.” Sehun had to accompany his father to a meeting today with Lee to arrange things between the pharmacy line and the hospital line. Sehun's mother had yet to recover from the shocking news and the even more shocking fact that her husband had accepted their son's decision so well, and therefore she ignored her son for the time being.

However, had life ever been perfect? The answer is no, and life would never be completely perfect. One had to make the best of it and enjoy the good.

At school, the news wasn’t exactly well-received as well. To most, it was shocking to know Park Ara was going out with the hospital heir. Rumors containing bad mouthing about the two sisters – as Hyejin had once dated Kai and was now still on good terms with the said male – found their way across the school corridors. Some only bad mouthed behind Ara's back, some did it publicly. But in all honesty, Ara could care less. If that was all there was to the consequences of dating Sehun she had to face, then she was more than willing to face them all at once. All the glares or dirty looks didn’t matter because she herself knew what was rumor and what reality. Because Sehun's love was precious to her, and she had sworn to herself not to let him go. She hadn't wavered under Lee Miyoung, Lee Byunghee or Sehun's parents, so why would she now?

Besides, the badmouthing was something Ara had learned to ignore perfectly ever since she entered the school. And actually, it was still bearable, as most tried to avoid using violence, which was the only thing that would have bothered the girl a lot. On the whole, it wasn’t as severe as one would have expected.

Sehun tried to make sure to always be near Ara because he couldn’t help but worry. He had also openly declared that anyone trying to harm Ara would get into trouble with him, so everything was kept in reasonable limits, much to the couple's luck and favor.

“The meeting is this evening, isn’t it?” Ara asked, sitting on the couch with textbooks in her hand. Sehun turned to look at her and nodded his head in response. “Yeah.” He was sitting on the ground, having just as many textbooks as Ara in his hands. The graduation exams were coming up soon. Very soon. They had about one month left and after all the stress had now subsided, the two of them could finally fully concentrate on it. And they had to, if they wanted to do well on the graduation exams. Today, they had headed straight to Sehun's apartment to study together, just like they had done the past few days.

“Do you think you can … manage it?” Sehun looked up upon hearing Ara 's question. He could see in her eyes that she felt bad for being the reason he had to meet up with Mr. Lee to clear up things. “Are you worried?” He asked back, a smile tugging at his lips.

Ara's brows immediately furrowed as she averted her gaze. “No – I mean, yes, but who wouldn’t be?” She mumbled, twisting her lips. “It must have been at the back of his mind for quite a while already and for things to be suddenly canceled, he'd surely be pissed …” Ara trailed off. She honestly couldn’t help but feel bad for putting Sehun through all this trouble. But she would always remind herself to stick to her principles. To stick to what she had told Miyoung that day on the rooftop. She had already accepted all the trouble, that not only she would face but also Sehun would, the moment they had stepped out of the forest, hand in hand. It was hard to stick to her principles and sometimes she would unconsciously allow herself to feel guilty for the trouble Sehun was going through. Like right now.

“He probably is, but it doesn’t r
