Everything seemed to move in slow motion.

The ball flying towards her, Daehyun appearing from nowhere, his grip on her hand.

His arm flew up to block the ball, the impact loud and surely painful. His eyes were on hers the entire time, searching her face and watching the fear flicker in her eyes when the ball moved in her direction.

She stared at him in absolute shock, not expecting him to pop up again. First the plate incident, now the basketball. Jung Daehyun had appeared again and he saved her. From a ball, yes, but still the act was shocking.

That he would even bother lifting his from the chair he was sitting on was surprising.

Why did he do that?

"You okay?" Daehyun murmured, wincing as he brought his arm down. So Eun's eyes darted from his eyes to his arm, swallowing hard as a bruise began forming. "You're hurt again." she whispered.

"It doesn't matter." Daehyun hid his arm behind him. Because it really didn't.

So Eun's eyes snapped up to meet his and she saw it again. The guy behind that facade he had created for himself, the passionate caring guy with genuine concern reflecting in his eyes. This was the reason why she didn't hate him, this was the look that had her believing he was something more than he seemed.

"MY BABY!!!"

So Eun and Daehyun snapped out of their daze, with him moving swiftly away from her as soon as he made sure she was balanced enough to stand.

So Eun threw an annoyed look at Himchan as he rushed over from the other end of the court. "My precious daughter I'm so sorry!!" Himchan rushed over and pushed Daehyun away. "Did you get hit? I'm so so so sorry!"

The rest of the BAP boys rushed over as well, surrounding So Eun. "You okay, noona?" Zelo looked her up and down.

"You were shocked and scared weren't you?" Yongguk asked loudly and glanced at Himchan slyly. "If only someone didn't have such a lousy aim." Himchan rolled his eyes and pretended to stretch, his hand accidentally slapping Yongguk on the face. Himchan pretended to gasp when Yongguk glared at him. "Sorry, lousy aim." he grinned innocently.

"You sure you okay?" Jongup asked So Eun, frowning.

Youngjae leaped off the bench he was sitting on and made his way over to them. He pushed past the students which had gathered around them to make way to his friends. "Sorry, excuse me. Yes excuse me."

Coach Lee reached So Eun and looked at her. "Are you okay?"

So Eun nodded. "Yeah I am, but.." she looked over Zelo's shoulder to look for Daehyun. Youngjae grinned just as Daehyun was about to sneak off secretly and he pulled him back. "But Jung Daehyun saved her! Seongsaengnim, he deserves an award doesn't he?"

Daehyun shot Youngjae a look but the latter kept a firm grip on the former. "Where are you going Jung Daehyun, we aren't going to let you go so easily if you've saved our little sis."

Daehyun looked thoroughly annoyed since it wasn't in his plan to attract so much attention. He was used to being there and disappearing easily for easy stalking.

"Aren't we going to say thank you, Yongguk hyung?" Youngjae asked.

Yongguk shot the brainiac a look and his voice came out strained. "Fine. Fine, BAP will treat you to a meal."

And they did.

When school ended, the BAP boys had dragged Daehyun to a nearby eatery and ordered a great deal of food to thank Daehyun for saving So Eun once again.

Daehyun wanted to sneak away when school ended, grabbing his bag and almost running away when the bell ring but Youngjae was already by the door to stop him. To be honest, Youngjae wanted Daehyun to get closer to BAP because he could tell Daehyun wasn't a bad guy.

And besides, he was like So Eun and he had a strong desire to unravel a mystery when he saw one.

And now they were seated at a table for themselves, with a great few dishes between them as they ate lunch together. Strangely, Daehyun didn't feel out of place with these boys and felt as if he had known them somehow.

"This feels completely unnecessary." Yongguk muttered, still not liking Daehyun a lot.

"Of course it's necessary, we're going to be good friends with Daehyun hyung aren't we?" Youngjae slung his arm around Daehyun's shoulders. Daehyun shook the arm off and grunted while Yongguk's face contorted.

So Eun blinked at Youngjae, wondering why in the world her best friend was acting like he was all of a sudden. "Anyway we should continue that little chat before the basketball incident." Youngjae looked at Daehyun.

"Where did you come from before you came to Kyungnam?" Youngjae asked curiously. So Eun nodded, also curious.

Daehyun cleared his throat. "I told you, my mother's womb." he muttered, downing his orange juice.

So Eun cracked a smile and Jongup grinned. So Eun leaned forward and looked at Daehyun. "Don't you have any siblings?"

Daehyun quirked an eyebrow. "None of your business."

"Any favorite bands?" Zelo asked curiously. "I like Secret." he pinked. "I like Han Sunhwa."

"That's why you don't like Kwanghee so much?" Jongup gasped in realisation.

*I like So Eun.* Daehyun thought silently. "So? Any favorite bands?" Zelo ignored Jongup's comment. Daehyun shook his head. "I don't know any."

"You don't know any?" Himchan frowned in surprise. "Kpop is viral throughout the world and you as a korean, you don't know any????" he almost fainted. "Not SNSD? TVXQ? Super Junior? Big Bang?"

"I know Big Bang." Daehyun realized. "Isn't that the phenomenon that had created the universe in the first place?"

"Oh this guy." Yongguk rolled his eyes. "I guess you don't know G-Dragon then, the best rapper ever. TOP too."

Youngjae leaned closer to Daehyun and eyed him up and down. "You really don't know any bands? Not even Psy? Gangnam style?" he questioned curiously. "Maybe not korean, how about Maroon 5? Taylor Swift? One Direction? The Wanted?"

Daehyun shook his head, not hearing them before. Youngjae made a face. "Are you living in this century or not?" he complained. "It's almost like you're living in the Silla Period instead."

Daehyun didn't say anything. *Don't you want to know.* he rolled his eyes inwardly.

Daehyun set his chopsticks down and looked at So Eun. "You okay?" So eun was slightly startled that he actually talked to her and she nodded dumbly. Daehyun nodded in return and stood up grabbing his bag.

"Hm." he grunted, turning to go. So Eun's hand shot out to stop him before she even knew what she was doing. Jongup frowned slightly at her act.

"Where are you going?" So Eun frowned. She looked at his half-filled plate. "You haven't finished."

Daehyun looked at her once and shrugged, turning. Youngjae stood up, stopping him as well. "Where do you think you're going? You're a part of BAP now you know?"

"EHHHH??" Yongguk and Himchan chorused together in shock.

Youngjae grinned. "Welcome to the group, Jung Daehyun." He held out a hand.

So Eun had no idea what Youngjae was doing but she couldn't help but smile. She wanted to know Daehyun better and this was it.

"Hey look, Jung Daehyun is walking into school with the BAP boys!"

Students crowded at the entrance to see what the fuss was about and gaped as Daehyun trudged in with his usual pose with his hnads in his pockets, only this time it was different because there were people around him.

Youngjae was on his left and So Eun on his right. The gang moved in as if they did this everyday and Youngjae was doing everything he could to get Daehyun to talk. He didn't succeed often, but at least Daehyun seemed to enjoy listening in on their conversations.

"Noona, where's my chocopie?" Zelo pouted.

So Eun grinned and tossed him one from her bag, making the maknae smile happily. She caught Daehyun looking on curiously and handed him one. "Here. Got one for you too."

Daehyun cleared his throat, looking  somewhere else and she stuffed the chocopie in his bag. "Eat it later then." she mused, not at all affected by his cold exterior any longer.

Daehyun watched the BAP boys and So Eun bicker as they walked towards the locker and he couldn't help but feel the warmth spread throughout his body.

A thousand years, he watched all his loved ones die. Everyone he knew had gone and he was the only one left.

He would wait till So Eun was reincarnated, but sometimes he also saw his parents being reincarnated. He watched them fall in love and get married, praying to get a baby but failing to do so because their son from their previous life hadn't died.

The knowledge that you were really the only one left from your time made it horrifyingly lonely.

Daehyun didn't make friends after he knew how painful it was to say goodbye to them. Walking in a group with the BAP boys was a simple act, but that simple act signified a lot of other things. Daehyun sighed softly, enjoying the simple company of another human being.

So Eun dug her bag and got out the ointment she got from her mother. She wanted to pass it to Daehyun for the sore spot on his arm when he blocked the basket ball when she blinked at his arm.

"Weird." she murmured as she took in his flawless skin. "I was sure there was a bruise."
