A Witch's Endearment
Baekho becomes distracted by the rain.
Ren sees this happen often and likes to come up from behind, sitting on the edge of the couch and wrapping his arms around Baekho’s shoulders, chin propped on his head.
“Are we eating out?” Ren asks him, Baekho contemplates that.
“I think we should eat inside, the rain doesn’t look like it’s lighting up.” Baekho comments, yet smiles at the patter of water against the window.
“At least I’m not my cousin,” Ren muses. “She’s inclined to water, every time she’s upset, there’s literal dark clouds in the sky.”
Baekho wants to remind that Ren’s anger can wipe out a city’s power, but decides not to. It was out of Ren’s control for the most part, the witch was doing his best.
Baekho then laughs and Ren looks in the direction he sees, and narrows his eyes at the black cat that finds shelter just outside their window sill.
“Don’t take that as a sign, I don’t like cats.” Ren reminds. A witch and their black cat, fine by most, but Ren wasn’t an animal person.
“I wouldn’t at first, but they always happen to be black. Maybe we should.”
“...But then you’ll pay attention to that cat more than me.” Ren says with a rather disgruntled tone. He sees how owners can be with their pets, and Ren doesn’t like the idea of someone else taking up his attention.
And when Baekho feels Ren remove himself and slide across the couch, the witch is now laying on Baekho’s lap with a purple blanket that appears from nowhere. He curls into Baekho’s chest and makes a satisfied sigh as he finds his perfect position. This was his favorite place to be.
“You’re more like a cat,” Baekho comments and earns a subtle glare from the witch. Then Ren relaxes his stare and thinks it over.
“But you like cats?”
“I do.” Baekho replies simply as he tucks a strand of hair behind the witch's ear. Ren muses that thought and smiles. Then the comparison wasn’t a bad thing at all.
In the heavy rain, the witch finds shelter in his lover’s embrace.
