All weekend, Niel wouldn’t leave Sohee’s mind. She was constantly worrying about him. She was fearful of what she would witness on Monday.

Would Niel come to school, or would he be absent again? If he was absent, she was determined to call the police, whether Niel had snapped at her to keep out of his business or not.

However, she didn’t have to worry about that because when she came into class on that apprehensive Monday morning, Niel was already in his seat. He was looking out the window with a cool expression. The swelling on his eye had gone down. She was glad that he had come, but she was still uneasy about him.

The bell rang, and Sohee set her binder on the podium. “Okay,” She cleared , “Let’s begin class.”

Niel avoided her gaze as he reluctantly turned forward.

Sohee choked on her breath. She noticed a clumsy cast around his right wrist. Her heart constricted in sympathy and pain. *Please don’t tell me…Did his father do that to him?* She tasted copper in .

“Ssem? Hello? Ssem!” Kiwoo barked. Sohee snapped out of her daze. “Yes?”

“I need to pee.” He bluntly spoke. “Oh. Go ahead and use the restroom.” She nodded.

Kiwoo darted out. Niel realized Sohee had been distracted by his sprained wrist. His bastard-of-a-father had beaten him the moment he had stepped foot into the door the next morning, and Niel had slightly twisted his wrist at the impact. Self-consciously, he tucked his wrist under the desk and pretended to be preoccupied with the sophomores stretching outside.

Mouth dry, Sohee began to call roll.

During break, Sohee searched for Niel. She found him outside with his friends. “Ahn Daniel.”

Teen Top stopped chattering and stared up at her.

“Yo, ssem.” CAP grinned. Changjo and Ricky ignored her, as usual.

Sohee looked at Niel. “We need to talk.”

“I have nothing to say.” He shrugged. “Well, I do. Now follow me.” She spun on her heels and walked away.

“So demanding.” Ricky muttered, and Changjo snickered.

Niel got up and lazily followed her behind the building. L. Joe looked after them worriedly.

Sohee stopped and turned around. She looked at his bandaged wrist. “What happened?”

“Can’t you tell? It’s a sprain.” Niel said, irritated.

“Yes, I know, but how did you get it?” She asked. “It’s not any of your business, is it?” He questioned.

“Your father did this to you, didn’t he?” Sohee questioned. She didn’t beat around the bush.

Niel swallowed hard but stiffly replied. “I remember specifically telling you not to meddle into my affairs. I take care of myself.”
