As I lay in bed with Sehun snuggled up to my chest, I couldn’t help but think about his parents.  He’s so fragile when it comes to them.  I feel like whenever I bring them up, he’ll break down again.  Even though we just made love to each other, I couldn’t help but think that he wasn’t into it tonight.  I saw his eyes spacing out.  I noticed he didn’t make any noise, either.  I don’t know what I can do, though.  I don’t know where they live…

                Wait.

                I reached over to my cellphone that was abandoned on the floor in our moment of passion.  I quickly realized that wasn’t going to work and instead grabbed Sehun’s cellphone.  I scrolled down the contacts until I found a familiar name.

                “Sehun-ah?  I haven’t heard from you in a while!  How have you been?”  A bright, cheery voice asked, making me smile a bit.

                “Kyungsoo, it’s me, Luhan.  I’m using Sehun’s phone.” 

                “Oh, no wonder, Sehun never calls this late.  What can I do for you?” 

                “Look, I have to ask you something but you can’t tell Sehun anything, okay?” 

                “Of course, I’ll keep my lips zipped.”

                “Do you know where Sehun’s parents live?  I want to talk to them because today they completely ignored him and he’s really hurt.  Please help.” 

                “Kyung, who’s that?”  I heard Jongin’s voice in the background.

                “Ah, Jongie, it’s Luhan.” 

                “Oh, they’re back in Korea already?  Tell him and Sehun to visit us before they go back.” 

                “We will, I promise.”  I half-yelled, not wanting to shatter Kyungsoo’s eardrums but wanting Jongin to hear me.

                “I’ll be right back, Jongin.  I, uh, need to wash the dishes real fast.”

                “Alright.”

                “Why did you lie to him?”  I questioned curiously.

                “I don’t want him to worry about Sehun.  After all, it was his fault Sehun got kicked out in the first place.”

                “What?!”

                “Yeah, when they started going out, Jongin didn’t know that Sehun wasn’t out of the closet.  So one day, they went home from school together to work on a project.  Then, when Jongin introduced himself, he said he was Sehun’s boyfriend.  That’s when his parents… you know… beat him and told him to get out.”

                Beat him?  What the hell?  He never told me this.

                “Whoa, whoa, whoa.  What!?”  I felt tears b and threatening to fall.

                “Oh… … he never told you, right?  I’m so sorry, please don’t confront him about it.  He’s really sensitive about it.”  His voice got smaller and smaller until I could barely hear him.

                “It’s okay, thank you for telling me.  I understand what I need to do now.  Can you please tell me the address?”

                “Yeah, sure, let me go find it.  I wrote it down somewhere.”

                After he hung up, I fell back onto the bed, heartbroken.

                It all made sense now, though.  It seemed like every time he told me about his parents it was a different story.  Once he told me he ran away because they didn’t support him, then another time he told me he was kicked out.  It’s really just the two stories mixed together along with the fact that they abused him before letting him leave. 

                How does he still manage to smile, though?

                I gazed at the sleeping figure next to me and gently kissed his lips before hooking an arm around his waist and pulling him closer to me.  I wanted to be there for him, but I couldn’t if he wasn’t being truthful to me.  I wanted to know the real story.  I didn’t want him to carry this burden alone.  I was going to make his parents realize how wrong they are, even if they still won’t admit they’re wrong.  It’s not that I want Sehun to make up with his parents, because they are horrible people, but I want them to apologize.  Maybe even tell him that they love him before we go back to America.  It probably won’t turn out like that, though, because this isn’t some drama. 

                I decided that I would try to bring up the subject because in order to tell his parents off, I’ll need all the courage I can get.  If he tells me what they did to him, I’m sure I’ll be pissed off enough to just barge in and preach to them.

                For now, though, I decided to go to sleep.  Just looking at the tranquility of Sehun’s face made me a little bit happier.  This really was the only time that he was truly happy looking.  I couldn’t believe that I made a miscalculation like that.  How could I miss the inner sadness that he actually felt?  Was it because I always used to use him for my own selfishness?  That was part of the reason I asked him to be my pet in the first place.  Besides the fact that I wanted to show that I could be responsible for a living organism.  Maybe we need a pet.  I heard they’re good for stress relief.  Well, I also experienced it.  Sehun really helped me get over my depression and anxiety so now it’s my turn to help him.

I’m really truly sorry this is so short.  I need to sleep because it’s been ruining my schoolife.  I find myself nodding off during class and it’s not good.  I promise I’ll make it up to you by making longer chapters from now on, especially on the weekends.  Again, I’m sorry.  *bows* I love you all, really.  You guys make me actually want to get up in the morning.  <3
