ღ Chapter Seven ღ     Mid May   In order to satisfy my grandmother, I'd promised to met a designer she had contacted, who was going to make me a custom dress. To be honest, I didn't see the point of spending so much money or effort on something that I was going to wear for a few hours, but you know, she insisted.    "Take a seat for a now, ladies," the designer's assistant told Minjung and me. "I am going to bring out a basic dress for you to try on in order to get your measurements."   "Sure, thank you," I replied, sitting down on velvet cushioned seats.    "Can I just say that I am honored to be your maid of honor?" Minjung told me with a big smile on her face. "I was worried for a second that you didn't love me anymore now that we don't get to see each other as much as we used to with you in China most of the time."   "Best friends forever, though," I replied, giggling at her sillyness. "And your plus one?"   "The lovely Mr. Moon Hyunki will be my date for this event. He is also very excited to see you again, and might be bringing a bushel of fruit as a wedding gift."   "...that was a joke, right?"   Minjung laughed, giving me a push on the shoulder. "About the fruit, yes. About everything else, no."   At that moment, the assistant returned, and ushered me into a changing room. The dress that she handed was simple and plain.    I changed into it, and then stepped out in front of 3 full panel mirrors. The assistant approached me with a tape ruler and pins, and started to pin the dress tighter to my body in various places.    "You have a wonderful figure, Miss Lee," she told me as she took the waist in by a whole full inch.    "Jae-ah, you're going to looks just fabulous," Minjung added as she started flipping through a magazine of dresses. "I think we should go with elegant, and classy. A strapless, sleeveless dress to show off those collarbones, for sure."   "I think a pure white dress will suit her more than off-white as well. A strapless gown with a small waist and minimal ts."   Minjung grinned up at me, eyes twinkling, and the assistant started pinning the bodice. "This is going to be the best wedding ever."       After the dress fitting, Minjung and I went out to eat at a local restaurant, where she was immediately recognized and aske
