In the Concubine's Quarters
Description
A story set in ancient China, sometime when witty poets wrote prose inspired from romance - eloping with wine, the adoration of a lover, affection for the vast expanse of sky or even love for words.
This is a votive praise to what was a magnificent culture.
Foreword
The historians weren’t lying when they wrote about the great dynasties falling to the feet of great beauties. One look from her could sway the empire and make men shake in their skins. The scholars weren’t just generalising history when they said that chaos would rule in the whimpering passion of romance – especially fraught in the loins of rulers: Emperor’s, princes.
As soon as your heart constricts; when your hands tremble to touch the milky flesh of your beloved –
As soon as you fall in love.
It’s all over.
