Different

My Bodyguard Princess

"I wish you and your with a good night's rest, Mr Lee." the Ahjusshi bowed.

"Thank you. We will." Baekhyun smiled at the fake name he had given as his. The Ahjusshi left and closed the door, leaving the two together in the room.

Baekhyun looked back at Byul, only to see her testing out the wooden couch and laying on it in different positions.

"What are you doing?" he asked with raised brows.

Byul blinked. "Huh?" she sat up. "Oh. Testing which position would be the most comfortable when I sleep." she mumbled.

Baekhyun frowned. "You're not sleeping on the couch, dumb dumb." he muttered, carrying one of the two basins of water the Ahjusshi had brought up to them.

He placed it beside the bed and looked at her. "You're sleeping on the bed." he announced.

Byul looked at him curiously. "What about you then, where are you sleeping?"

Baekhyun grinned at her as he took off his shoes and washed his face a little. "Me? On the bed of course. Can't expect the Crown Prince to sleep on the couch right?"

Byul's eyes widened and she let out a yelp. "You mean we're going to sleep on the same bed?" she shrieked.

Baekhyun hushed her. "You want everyone to hear?" he whispered. "You're supposed to be my wife, Kim Jisun, don't you remember?" he grinned.

Byul swallowed and looked at him. "But...but..."

Baekhyun sighed and stood up, walking over to get the second basin of water and putting it in front of Byul. "Just shut up, wash up, and let's go to sleep." he ordered. "Orders from the Crown Prince."

"But-" Byul opened to protest but Baekhyun cut her off. "Don't force me to help you wash up, Han Eunbyul." he raised a brow.

Byul made a muffled groaning sound as she reached for the basin to wash her face. Baekhyun grinned to himself as he returned to his. He didn't know why, but he just wanted things to be arranged this way.

To be honest, he knew Byul would have managed to find a way to get them back into the Palace one way or another. But he didn't want to go back so quickly. Back to the formalities, to the duties....to Dahae.

The thought shocked him a little but when he seriously thought of it, he realized it had been there for some time. Dahae was getting annoying, but he wasn't sure if she had always been this annoying and he only just found out.

And today, a day in the city....it was amazing.

He saw so many things he never did before. He experienced the fun of a commoner, and realized it could be as fun as a royal's definition of fun.

But most importantly, it was nice to see Byul relaxing. To see her laugh along with him and smile. To see her rolling her eyes at the stupid things he said and then adding a comment that's even funnier.

Baekhyun put the basin aside after washing up thoroughly. He let out a contented sigh and looked over to Byul, wondering why she was so quiet.

He walked over to her and saw her curled up on the wooden couch, her shoes removed and her legs curled under her. She fell asleep.

"I can't believe this girl." Baekhyun whispered, chuckling. He slipped an arm under her legs and the other arm around her shoulders and lifted her up bridal style. He carried her over to the bed as gently as he could, surprised at how light she was.

Byul shifted slightly and Baekhyun froze, not knowing why he was nervous. He wasn't doing anything wrong, was he?

Byul didn't move again, falling back into deep sleep. The day's fun had apparently tired even the muscle woman. Baekhyun smiled softly and slipped under the covers beside Byul.

He turned to blow out the candle, leaving only one beside their bed. He rolled over to his side to look at Byul, his eyes resting on her face.

He remembered the time when they were trapped in the Kimchi storeroom and Byul fell asleep on him. He watched her sleep then, and he watched her sleep now.

One thing didn't change: the strange satisfaction of just quietly watching. Baekhyun let his eyes wonder around her face, slowly, taking in every detail. Details that he wouldn't have seen in everyday life.

Baekhyun let out a quiet breath. This girl was seriously beautiful, and even in sleep she looked like an angel. But the best thing was that her heart was one of an angel as well.

Baekhyun grew tired but the smile never left his face. He closed his eyes and inches closer to Byul, curling an arm around her waist and falling asleep.

And then he dreamt of angels.

"I can't believe how irresponsible you two are!" Dahae shrieked. "Do you know how worried I was when I couldn't find you two yesterday? How dangerous it is for royals to slip into the commoner's world? How evil they are?"

Baekhyun flinched. "I wanted to go, Dahae. And the outside world is pretty fine, unlike being trapped in this luxurious prison."

"This luxurious prison that's called home!" Dahae fumed. She glared at Byul before stalking off. "Bad influences everywhere." she muttered.

The princes watched as Dahae stomped away angrily. "Well, that was that." Suho shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal. He looked over at Baekhyun and Byul. "So how was your adventure?" he grinned.

The EXO-K princes promptly forgot about Dahae's jealousy attack and demanded for every detail to be told of their little adventure. Baekhyun told them everything excitedly, leaving the parts about the bangle and where they pretended to be a couple and the inn's Ahjusshi even whispered to him that morning when they were leaving that he should treasure his wife and she was a keeper.

That felt a little too private to share.

Chanyeol listened, wishing with all his heart that he was the one having fun with Byul. He had stayed in the Palace in the end, lying to Baekhyun's maids that his hyung was staying over at his place to cover up for his absence.

He had been troubled when they didn't return the previous night and didn't know what to think. And not to mention how he found out that his parents were trying to kill Baekhyun.

That explained the dark circles around his eyes.

"But where did you two spend the night?" Chanyeol asked the question that had been bugging him. Baekhyun looked over at Byul and Chanyeol caught the faint pinkness that surfaced on her cheeks. His heart sank.

"Err. At an inn." Baekhyun muttered. He quickly changed the direction of conversation flow and the rest of the EXO-K princes listened on attentively, making it impossible for Chanyeol to steer the conversation back.

He looked at Byul and Baekhyun, swallowing. *Please don't tell me I'm too late.*

Baekhyun felt guilty that Dahae was worried for him the previous day. Though he was still a little pissed that she implied that Byul was a bad influence, it was thought to him as a Crown Prince to do the right things. And right now apologizing was it.

He went over to Dahae's quarters while Byul took a short nap since she didn't sleep too well at the inn the previous night. He couldn't say the same for himself though. He thought sleep with Byul was wonderfully peaceful and comfortable.

"Where is princess Dahae?" he asked the servants when he didn't find her in it.

"Dahae gongju is at the pavilion painting right now." the servant bowed.

Baekhyun muttered a thanks and went off to the small pavilion. When he neared, he saw that Dahae had her head on the table and had already fallen asleep. Did she lose sleep worrying for him or was she losing sleep over the lost of his affections?

"Daha-" Baekhyun stopped himself. He shrugged. "Since she's asleep." he turned to go when he stopped.

He turned back and walked quietly to Dahae's side, watching her sleep. Dahae was a pretty sleeper, no snores, no drooling.

But somehow, watching her didn't give him the same satisfaction as when he looked at Byul. He didn't feel that skipping of his heart, the adoration that simply flowed through.

It was a feeling that mere words had no ability explaining, the richness of it as it just radiated from him. How he couldn't stop feeling whatever it was, how it made him feel young and excited for something but he didn't know what.

Baekhyun tried watching Dahae for a longer time, willing that feeling to surface. But it didn't, even as he stared for more than fifteen minutes.

Finally, Dahae stirred and Baekhyun slipped away before she could see him. He didn't know how he was supposed to explain watching her sleep like some sort of ert.

Baekhyun stared at the ground as he made his way back. *Why is it so different?* he thought, confused. *I love Dahae, but why don't I get that....that feeling?*

He sighed and shrugged. Some complicated for the Ddong-ha this was.
