“Let me make something clear, Sun Kyeol.” Both Sunggyu's palms were on either side of Sun Kyeol's head, resting on the wall behind her, while his eyes bored into hers. She had never felt so scared, never felt such a need to have her brother there. But Sunggyu wasn’t even screaming, wasn’t even angry at her for continuously pestering his personal life. She had chosen this path; the path that would make him happy, yet still have him so close to her, just enough to reach.

Sun Kyeol swallowed.

With a clearer head on her shoulders, it did seem unfair of her to have snapped at him, when she chose this way herself.

“I didn’t marry you out of love.” He muttered under his breath and started to pull away. Sunggyu was eerily calm, and perhaps that was why it was all the more scarier. “I married out of duty, out of debt to your parents, to your family. Please don’t forget that.”

He fixed his suit and started to walk away, muttering about business meetings and the like, sighing as he did so. He stopped by the doorway and looked behind his shoulder. Sun Kyeol was still frozen, leaning by the wall, her eyes trained on wherever he had once been.

She had known his truth, but perhaps thought that maybe, if she never acknowledged it, it wouldn’t be real.

“I love you, Sun Kyeol. But not like how it is with her, never like her.”

And with that, Sunggyu his heel, and vanished from her sight. She fell to the floor and clutched her chest, choking quiet sobs and trying to stop overflowing tears.

Kim Sunggyu ; The insensitive husband. 

Years of unreturned affections had made him grow cold, grow distant. Focusing all his attention on work, he met the love of his life at the most unexpected time, his icy heart slowly, but surely melting. However, all was crushed when the family he had thought of as his own went into distress. Sunggyu was not one to let the favors go by unreturned; his duty would always come first, even if it meant losing the one woman who had made his life meaningful once more.

Lee Sun Kyeol ; The insecure wife.

She had loved him, she still loves him, and she will always love him; a promise she had kept throughout the 22 years of her life. Lee Sun Kyeol was the only daughter of Lee enterprises, and was also Sunggyu’s childhood friend, possibly the only friend he still had. When a debt was to be repaid by their wedding, Sun Kyeol was ecstatic; all her dreams were coming true. Though one problem still existed – he was looking anywhere but where she was.

Bae Shin Ah ; The misunderstood mistress.

Silent, scornful, and sinister-like; all the traits needed for the perfect little . With a clouded past and a cloudier personality, Bae Shin Ah was anything but like Sunggyu’s wife – and perhaps that was what had attracted him. She was strong, and independent; she didn't anyone to help her stand up on her own. Upon news of Sunggyu’s wedding though, all pretenses had left her and she was determined to get him back.
 

Lee Sungyeol ; The doubting brother-in-law.

Her innocence was his sun, her purity was his way; her happiness his. A brother-complex? Much more complicated than that. Lee Sungyeol was in love with his sister, and why couldn’t he, when he knows they weren’t even biologically related? But he respected her, and never made a move because he knows she would be uncomfortable by it. But hurt Lee Sun Kyeol and you suffered a fate worse than death.
