Chapter 19

-Baekhyun's POV-

'What did I do?'

I felt so stupid. I mentally hit myself and sighed. I can't believe I just did that. I just... Those rumors really hit home. Those people that write them have no idea how hard we work to be where we're at right now. Sleepless nights, practicing and rehearsing, just to make the world think that we're perfect; but even then, some people find things to criticize about us.

It pains me when people hate Kai for 'having too many teasers,' or having everything revolves around him. It's not his fault; we follow what the company tells us to do. He practices the most out of all of us-him and Lay that is. Kai also has a sleeping problem, which makes it hard to get the much needed limited hours of sleep. People say he's cold, but he just needs permission to show off his bubbly self.

I didn't mean what I said in the room. I was just so worked up, seeing Kai suffer so many injuries, but continuing like nothing happens; it's like seeing your brother jump in front of you so that he could take a bullet for you, and then jump back up ignoring the pain to help you again.

I just... Aish. I don't know what to do. I didn't even let her speak.

I pressed my ear up to the room. I heard her soft muffled sobs, and my heart just about broke into a million pieces. I ran my fingers through my hair, and sighed for the up tenth time.

I opened the door, and she looked up at me through teary eyes. Wordlessly, I walked towards her and pulled her into a hug.

"Baek-" She started, but I cut her off.

"Shhh," I whispered, and she cried softly into my chest. Her breathing slowed, and I realized that she had fallen asleep. I shifted her body to be lying down, and then wrapped the blanket around her. She snuggled into the blankets, and I silently left the room and turned off the lights. I walked to my room and collapsed into my bed and fell asleep.

-No One's POV-

You woke up, and walked out to the kitchen and froze when you remembered last night. You didn't meet anyone's eyes and quietly ate your breakfast. You then realized that you had vocal training with (or without?) Baekhyun.

You didn't know what to do, so you decided to walk to SM by yourself. When you walked into the building, you felt extremely awkward without Baekhyun at your side, so you awkwardly walked in and tried to act like you belonged. You guessed that it worked, because the other staff members bowed to you, making you feel even more awkward.

You finally reached the recording room, and hesitantly opened the door to find Baekhyun looking through records in a file cabinet. You awkwardly stood at the door, not knowing what to do.

"You can come you know," He stated, not looking up. You awkwardly sat in a chair.

'Wow, I feel awkward today...'

"K, did you bring the lyrics?" He sat across from you. He wasn't smiling, just acting as a professional mentor.

"Yeah," You took out a piece of paper and handed it to him.

"Do you still want to do a duet?" He asked, his voice turning slightly soft.

"S-sure if you want to..."

"Okay. How do you want the rap part to go?" He scanned over the words on the paper with his eyes.

"Hmm, maybe like this?" You demonstrated by rapping for him. He cracked a smile, and randomly tried a melody to go with the singing part. Surprisingly, it worked. You both smiled, and then you grinned seeing him smile. He glanced at you for a second, before cracking up.

"I'm sorry," You both blurted out at the same time, following with, "its okay."

"Let's record this!" Baekhyun said and you both went into the booth to record. He then printed it on a CD and you took it to Kai to make up a dance to.

Kai listened to it with no emotion. You waited until the song ended, before glancing at him for a reaction.

"Well, so far I have an idea for the build of the chorus." He demonstrated by showing you a move, and you quickly learned it. As you listened to the song over again, you both generated new ideas and eventually came up with a dance.

"Yay!" You cheered once you had finished the dance. His poker-face was still on, as it had been the whole entire time. Just then, you realized that the dance that you had been practicing was a duet.

"Oh Kai, this is a duet..." You mentioned, and he looked at you.

"You think that you could just take my place dancing, and not expect me to join when I could?" You didn't have time to debate whether it was a joke or not, because he walked out of the door quickly. You ran up to him and followed him. He spun around.

"What?" He asked dully, as if your appearance was a nuisance.

"I-I don't know... Why-" He cut you off.

"Save it. Talk to Baekhyun or something."

"You save it. Are you just jealous or something?" You grabbed onto his arm, not willing to be pushed around anymore. He scoffed.

"Yeah right, as if I would be jealous of you two's amazing relationship..." His eyes widened, but then he quickly regained his composure.

"You are so jealous!" You smiled, happy with yourself for solving the problem. He smirked at you.

"You wish little girl, you wish."

"Uhm, I'm older than you, Kai," You shot back, rolling your eyes.

"That's Sunbae to you," He patted your head and sauntered away.

'Okay, what the hell?'
