Chapter 6 Continued

"Yeah, but when I ask her who she was, she nervous and give the phone to you," he said, confused.

"No one other than the doctor, translater, and other members are suppposed to know she's here," I explained warily.

"Oh..." he said, pausing afterwards. "Listen, Heecul-ah, I sorry for not contacting any of you these years. I admit, at first, I was scared... I afraid that you all would hate me because I left... But not long after lawsuit end, my company, manager, and Jiang Kai Tong all forbade it, with harsh consequences that I could not afford at the time."

"Bitches..." I mutter. 'So what's this, then?"

"I couldn't take it anymore, Hee. Right now, I don't even care if my career goes downhill," he replied. "I needed to explain everything to you."

"...What sort of consequences...?" I asked unsurely.

"The company said they waive my contract. My manager said he quit, and Jiang Kai Tong say she leave," he answered simply.

"...Why?" I asked, unable to process what I heard. 'Bitches' didn't come close to being a good enough word to describe them.

"I know they just want best for me, but the company and manager don't want scandal to spread, considering my history with Super Junior. They both also very disgusted with the way I was treated in Korea. And Jiang Kai Tong, she was same as them, but she also jealous," he explained.

"Jealous? Of what?" I inquired curiously. He laughed, the first sign of the Hankyung I knew so well finally surfacing.

"Of you."

"...What... the... hell...?" I said.

"She doesn't want to share. She also think you are pretty enough to compete with her," he replied, bemused. "She just has attitude that she must be the best. It obnoxious, but she can be very sweet and caring sometimes." I burst out laughing.

"Compete with her? For what? You?" I laughed again and he joined in. "Sorry, Geng, I love you and all, but as my own brother. That fiancee of your has had one too many hits to the head."

"I know, but I really want you meet her. Like I said, she had good side, too," he said.

"I highly doubt that..." I muttered, not loud enough for him to hear. "So when are you coming back to Korea like you promised, then?"

"...About that...Heechul-ah..." he trailed off.

"What?" I asked, my eyes narrowing, unsure if I wanted to know what he was going to say.

"...I... don't think I'll be coming back to Korea... again..." he whispered sadly.

"What?! Why not?!"

"Heechul-ah, please understand, I can't tell you-"

"Why the fuck can't you tell me, Hankyung?!"  I roared, my hands trembling.

"It complicated... I called to talk to you one more time..." he said, his voice wavering.

"Fuck you, Hankyung! I hate you!!" I yelled and shut off my phone, cutting him off. I threw it onto my bed and slid down my door. I rested my arms on my knees and glared at the floor. Stupid Hankyung...

MEI LING POV:

My face fell when I heard Heechul screeching at the top of his lungs again. I knew it didn't end well when the yelling came to an abrupt stop and then a thump. I knew it was probably a bad idea that would lead to him screaming at me, but i went to Heechul's room. I knocked gently on the door.

"Heechul-shi...?" I asked. I heard him yell something in Korean from the other side; it did not sound nice. I took a deep breath before speaking again. "Heechul-shi, I don't know what went on between you two, but you can't hold on forever. You have to learn to accept it and let go. You are only killing yourself from the inside out by running away from it."

"Running away?! So  you think I a coward?! And why don't you fuck off?" he yelled from inside his room.

"Because I'm trying to help you," I replied. "Look, whatever I did to make you hate me, I apologize for it, okay?"

"Huh, what 'sorry' do? You just like Hankyung..." he muttered.

"Is that what he called for?" I asked. "Well, at least he did apologize, Heechul-shi. I'll assume that you didn't forgive him... but, don't you value your friendship?" He snorted.

"That stupid question..." I took that as a 'yes.'

"Then why did you hang up on him? You couldn've re-kindled your bond-"

"Look, why you so nosy? Can't you LEAVE ME ALONE?!" he snapped.

"Not until you tell me," I replied.

"Fine, then just stay there!" he said and held his tongue. I waited, but he did not say another word; so, I sat down, leaning against the wall beside the door.
