“ALEX! WAKE UP! COME ON WAKE UP!!” Donghae’s voice rang, I groaned in annoyance,

“What is it Hae?” I mumbled while rubbing my eyes. I turned my body to face the opposite direction that Donghae was screaming at me.

“PUT SOME SENSE INTO MR. CHOI! HE’S PLANNING TO LEAVE US!” Donghae yelled, my eyes instantly shot open,

“WHAT?!” I yelled, jumping up— accidentally bumping heads with Donghae when I shot up, “Donghae! You better be lying to me!” I groaned,

“I heard him talking to the maids that he was leaving! T-that they can find a new job!” Donghae said as his eyes were getting watery

“Donghae, you’re a man! Don’t you DARE cry!” I scolded while looking straight into his eyes,

“I can’t help it! He’s the only guy that was here when mom left us! We need him!” Donghae sniffed, I sighed,

“I’ll see” I mumbled,

 The door quietly opened and we saw Mr. Choi come in.

“What are you two little rascals doing in here?” he asked, giving us a warm, wrinkled smile.

“M-Mr. Choi!” Donghae stuttered, “P-please don’t leave us! B-but if you leave…Leave me! Not Alex! She’s only 14! She needs an adult by her side! Please take care of my little sister!” Donghae cried while hugging me,

“Donghae!” I whined, pushing him away,

“Now now, what are you two talking about?” Mr. Choi asked, looking at Donghae, then shifting his gaze back at me, then back to Donghae.

“I-I accidentally overheard your talk with the maids” Hae stuttered,

“W-What do you mean?”

“Please don’t leave us! I mean, how do you expect me to raise Alex all by myself?! She’s still a child! She can’t speak! Please sir! Stay with us!” Donghae pleaded, I sighed,

“Donghae, I think I can take care of myself”

“No you can’t! You can’t even speak properly! It takes you two years to actually talk to someone! Alex! Just—”

“Actually…I wasn’t planning on letting you two go…I paid for you two, I raised you kids up! Do you really think that I would let you two leave so easily?” Mr. Choi asked, “I let the other maids go, simply because I know that they could live on their own, unlike you two, they don’t live with me in this mansion.” He shrugged, then patted our heads, “Pack up your things, we’re moving”

“But-But dad! What about Alex?! You know how she is with people! She’s abnormally awkward with people!”

“Ah~ That’s why I need you two the most!” he said, shifting his gaze at me, I gulped, “Alex, I need you to pretend to be deaf” he said with a smile,

“Huh?” I blinked,

“I need you to pretend to be deaf and mute. My son recently got remarried, and honestly…I don’t trust his new wife ever since I found out about her past…So Alex, please help me” he said, holding my hands, “I really need you to do this for me…Just this one favor?”

I blinked, “What do you mean?”

“I don’t trust the wife and her child. Please...Save me” he said,

“B-but…Mr. Choi”

“As your ‘Mr. Choi’ as the person who take care of you, as the person whom you believe is better than your father...Please do this for me…”

I stared at him, “Can you give me a reason?”

“…I want to protect my grandchildren”

“W-what do you mean?”

“His new wife…She use to work at the bar. She’s slept with men so many times, it’s almost disgusting to count. Not to mention that she comes to MY son with a 15 year old girl that calls herself HIS child! So Alex…Can you?”

I stared at him….

“Okay…” I whimpered
