Have you ever really thought what the word, “Life” means?

Noun: 1. The condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding death.

Noun: 2. Living things and their activity: "some sort of life existed on Mars"

But does that really help you understand life?

People say that life, “Is an enjoyable thing! That we only have one chance to live it” others say that, “It has no meaning, just smile now”

But…Why should I smile? Do I really deserve to smile?

Here’s another word…Have you ever thought about what the word, “Love” means?

Noun: An intense feeling of deep affection: "their love for their country".

Verb: Feel a deep romantic or sexual attachment to (someone): "do you love me?"

I don’t understand...

What about “Family”?

Adjective: Designed to be suitable for children as well as adults.

Noun: A group consisting of parents and children living together in a household.

No matter how many times I look those words up…I don’t understand..

Is life worth living?

Is there really such a thing called love?

Is there a family that would be there for me?

I’m Alex, my life isn’t really a fairytale. My brother and I were both sold, by our own mother, to a man when were we little. Sure, that man is kind, but…Have you ever thought about the scars that I have? Remembering the moment that my mother sold me? Doesn’t sound real, does it?

I wouldn’t call myself a slave, since we have lived mighty fine with him for the past 10 years…

But having your mother…your own mother to love money over her children...It hurts, does it not?

I’m a servant for Mr. Choi. A man who was in his late 40’s when he bought us. He’s a very kind man, but I just don’t understand him…How can he love me more than my own mother? How can he love my brother more than my mother would ever love us?

But again…What does love mean?

What’s this “love” that girls my age want?

When a handsome prince charming comes into their lives with a ring?

Is that even possible?

What if the prince gets lost and dies?

Then who would come into their sad lives?

Forget a prince charming! I need someone who can take care of me…Someone who’s willing to do anything to protect me…Someone who won’t judge a selectively mute girl like me…

But who’s willing to be there for me? No one.
