Sang Hee was falling asleep in class as usual. ‘Why is this class so boring?’ She thought as she started to doodle to keep herself awake. She was so into her doodling, she didn’t notice a boy, with a seemingly happy glow about him, walked into the classroom. The teacher stopped the lecture and walked over to the boy. After asking him a few questions, she turned to the class.

“Class, I would like to introduce our new student.” The class was quiet.

“Annyeonghaseyo! I’m Lee Sandeul, please take care of me.” He bowed with a bright smile. A couple of girls giggled and whispered to each other, most of the boys didn’t care.

“Sandeul-ah, you may take the seat in front of Sang Hee-ya.” Sandeul’s eyes locked on Sang Hee.

Sang Hee raised her head from her drawing. ‘We have a new student?’ She saw the teacher pointing to the seat in front of her. ‘Hm. Well at least someone will hide me when I need to sleep.’

Sandeul snapped out of his stare and headed to the seat with the same smiley expression. ‘What’s he so happy about?’ Sang Hee stared at him until he took his seat. She then went back to her drawing. The teacher returned to the lesson, writing down notes on the board.

Sandeul turned around in his chair. “Annyeong, I’m Sandeul.” He whispered as he held out his hand in front of Sang Hee. Sang Hee noticed the hand over her drawing and looked up.

“Huh?”

“I’m Sandeul. What’s your name?”

She looked at his hand, debating whether or not to shake it. ‘Well it’s just a hand shake…’ she grabbed his hand and gave a small shake.

“Sang Hee.”

“Nice to meet you! I hope we can be good friends.” He smiled widely.

She didn’t say anything, but nodded slightly. He turned back to facing the front of the class. ‘Ok…probably not going to happen.’ She responded in her head. She went back to her drawing.
