Foreword

‘What are you doing? GET DOWN!’ I yelled at you. My tone may have sounded totally pissed off and only filled with anger but inside I was a headless chicken running around. ‘OH jessi.’ Were you drunk? I tried to take another step forward but you stuck your foot out and said ‘No no no. Jessi no more getting closer. If not I’ll have to jump before I tell you something important.’ This was insane. You had to be insane. How can you be playing on that bloody ledge. ‘Get down.’ You simply smile at me. ‘STEPH stop this rubbish and get down.’ Where are the darn ass police? Aren’t they suppose to be always on the go and ready for any emergency?

‘Jessi you know I love you right?’ I refused to respond. Hence my eyes simply continued to glare at her. ‘Of course you do. You may be angry and all but trust me that this is correct. God wanted me to love a girl and then for me to write my own ending.’ She let out a bitter laughter. ‘Steph seriously whatever He may have an issue with you dying isn’t going to make it all better. So would you please get your ASS DOWN!’ My tears were at the brim of flowing. ‘Sorry Jessi I wish you were right.’ Then you turned. I raced to catch you. Somehow I managed to grab your hand. You look up at me with no tears but the most angelic smile. Oh where are the stupid officers.

‘Let go Jessi.’ You sounded insane. You had to be insane to do this. ‘No.’ I clenched my jaw. Desperately trying to hold on. ‘Silly.’ Then you decided to swing your body left and right. ‘WOoHooo’ I closed my eyes. Trying to transport all my energy to the hands that held on to you. ‘Stop that.’ I barely managed to breath out the words as I struggled to hold you. 

Suddenly I felt your other hand. I peeked to look down. ‘Steph don’t.’ You and that freaky smile again. Then you with all your might managed to release yourself. ‘STEPH!’ I watched you descend as you sickly waved goodbye.

Opening my eyes, I was back to this rubbish called reality. Back to sitting at the balcony of your room. With blasted sun shamelessly shining down on me. I didn’t go down. It was like if I had seen you in that ugly frame, I would be accepting the lie. I just couldn’t. So I sat there watching all the people walk into the courtyard’s big white tent. 

Was this how you had meant to draw a crowd. All these people that dressed in black in respect for your lost soul? I wondered how many of them actually felt the heartache of you being gone. How many were going to shed the tears of you being lost forever. I wondered about so many things as I watched them. I wondered why the most.

My hand firmly grips the little pink book that you had left in my care. Why did you wished for me to have your diary I wouldn’t know. What else did I not know about you? I mean I was with you for as long as I can remember. Plus why didn’t you had this passed to your girl instead. Who the hell was she and why was she the one that made you leave in a middle of your beautiful song. Why was this new ‘she’ the last thing I hear before you decide to walk away? A hand run through my hair. 

I flipped open the first page.

Dear Jess,

if you are reading this page means that I’ve been requested by the Lord for a bigger purpose. Do not lock yourself in my room as you judge those that has come to bid me farewell. I’ll still be watching you. Jessi. I entrust my time on Earth to your knowledge as I feel that you will understand best what I’m trying to say. I love you my bestie. Smile more.

The words neatly written in some unnecessarily bright shade of pink. How is it that I am the one that understands you the most but have no clue at all why I am the one reading this. Was this all a joke? What was this greater purpose that you are suppose to serve? What kind of greater purpose is you dying anyway? What kind of a crappy thing is this! My frustration boiled over and I flung a fist to the wall. ‘Stupid.’ My knuckles now stained with little red marks.

Despite it screaming out in pain, my mind ignored it. As how could I process all these that had occur. The girl that was always so bubbly. The girl that was known as the warm one while I was the blizzard. How in the world did that girl decided that jumping off a twenty story building was a good choice? You say I get you. But seriously all I’m getting now is how much I don’t know you.

It was only then did the tears flow.
