I apparently had fallen asleep. I woke up on the floor of the bedroom, untouched and left in the cold. My shoulder had stopped bleeding and the badages were coated with dried blood. I tried to stand up, only to fall back down onto my knees. I balanced myself on the ground with enough strength to get back up. I stood up and held onto the bed for support. There was a mirror hanging on the wall across from the bed. I looked at myself, I was hideous. My shirt was bloody red, my hair messed up, my eyes were terribly swollen red and my body was timidly weak. I couldn't do anything and at that moment, I felt a surge of sadness go through me. I was hopeless, as hopeless as I was when my family had been taken away from me. Tears starts to form around my eyes but I pushed them back, telling myself that I couldn't cry. I can't cry, for all I know, Seungho may come back anytime. I gathered myself up, trying to push my shoulder pain out of the way.
Bang! Bang! Gunshots, right outside. I walked forward towards the door. I slowly turned the knob. It was unlocked! Lucky me!
I pulled the door opened, seeing the men in front of me on the ground, dead. Dead! I side-stepped them, making my way down the stairs.
"Where is Min-ah?!" a familiar voice called out from downstairs. T-this voice, i-it's...
"Why do you care?" another voice said. This voice is definitely Seungho's.
"What have you done with her?" the familiar voice called out again. Then I heard some rumbling, they were fighting I bet, and then it stopped.
"She's..." Seungho's voice trailed off as another voice interrupted him. This time, it came from behind me.
"MIN-AH!" the voice yelled. I turned around to see Yoseob running towards me, his right hand holding onto a silver pistol. "Are you alright? Did he hurt you?" he said, looking me up and down. His eyes laid on my bloody shoulder and he gasp.
"I-I'm fine Seobie, I-I'm j-just..." I said and my vision blurred. My head went dizzy and Yoseob grabbed hold of my arm to steady me. There was a commotion downstairs and glasses shattering. Yoseob and I turned to look towards where the noise was coming from but he tugged on my arm.
"Come on, we got to get you out. Kikwang is downstairs fighting Seungho right now," he said. No wonder the voice was so familiar, it was Kikwang. B-but why are they here? you asked yourself.
"Come on Min-ah," Yoseob said and dragged you back upstairs.
"B-but why are we going upstairs? Shouldn't we be going downstairs?" I asked, confused.
"Yeah, but Seungho and his gang crowded the way out."
"T-then how do we..." I asked but stopped abrutly when Yoseob halted in front of a window.
"Through here," he said and opened the window. "It's the only way out."
"B-but, we're on the second floor!" I said, scared and confused.
"No, we're not. This house was built on a hill, meaning the second floor is as good as the first floor, so, if you look," he said and pointed out the window. "The ground is just a couple of feet away," he proudly stated and smiled. How can he still smile when our lives are at danger?!
"F-fine," I said and started to climb out the window. "Are you coming too?" I asked him when he didn't make a move to the window.
"No, I need to go back and help Kikwang. When you get down, run towards the hilltop. Doojoon should be waiting there," Yoseob said, pointing to the top of the hill.
"B-but..." I protested but he cut me off.
"We're gonna be fine. Once you're safe, Kikwang and I will just escape," and again, he smiled.
"It's not so easy to escape from Seungho," I half whispered and hoped he didn't hear me, which, he didn't. He nudged me outside the window and so I climbed down. I looked back up to see him close the window and run back inside. Damn! I need to help them! I'll go tell Doojoon first!
With that, I ran up the hill and over the top. On the other side, there was a street, and a car parked in the middle of it. Inside, Doojoon sat in the driver's seat on the phone. I ran up to the car and knocked on the window. He jumped up at the sight of me but opened the door and let me in. I was panting and settled down for a breath.
"Finally you're here," Doojoon said. He started the car and was about to switch the car gear from Parking to Drive but I stopped him.
"Wait! What about Kikwang and Yoseob?!" I asked, half panting.
"They'll be alright," he said and didn't give another glance at me and drove off.
"W-what do you mean they'll be alright? Do they know who Seungho is?" I asked, yelling at the top of my lungs. "S-sorry," I said lowering my voice.
"It's fine, They've been through this before..." he said and covered his mouth like he said something that was not meant to be said.
"What do you mean b-before?" I asked him, looking straight at his face for any reactions.
His eyes stare straight at the road, afraid to make eye contact with mine. "Nothing."
"What do you mean nothing!" I yelled in frustration. "I hardly know you guys and then you guys mysteriously come to my rescue? How... Does this make any sense to you?"
"No, it doesn't but we'll explain later, I promise," he said, looked at me with sincerity and went back to look at the road. I kept quiet for the whole ride back to Kikwang's house.
I got out and held onto my shoulder for support. Doojoon opened the gate and led me inside. The door was unlocked so we walked into the house. We got into the livingroom and Doojoon told me to sit down while he went to look for the first-aid kit. He walked upstairs and disappeared out of sight. What is wrong with those guys? Why are they like this? Questions were storming my head. Who are they and why did they help me? Were the others okay? Did they escape safely? My thoughts were cut short as the door busted open.
I stood up to see Yoseob, Kikwang, Hyungseung and Dongwoon trudging in one holding onto another. Kikwang was in the worst condition. His stomach was bleeding non-stop, holding onto Hyungseung for most of the support. Hyungseung laid him down on the couch as I got out of their way. Junhyung scrolled in unscathed. Doojoon came back down to see everyone in a mess. Instead of a shocked face and a surprise face like you expected, his face was rather calm.
"Kwanggie, you alright?" he asked with no emotions and walked by me to get by his side with the first-aid kit. Doojoon tore opened Kikwang's shirt, revealing his abs covered with blood and the bullet wound smack in his right side of the stomach. I gasp and back up, bumping into Yoseob and hit my injured shoulder into his shoulder. I flinched and brought my hand up to hold onto my shoulder.
"You alright Min-ah?" Yoseob asked, raising his hands up to steady you. You nodded and excused yourself. You went into the bathroom to clean yourself, leaving everyone in the livingroom dealing with the injuries.
You looked into the mirror. Damn am I helpless! I'm so sorry Kikwang, I made you get injured. I... you thought to yourself and cried onto the sink. You looked back up to see a tortured and miserable you in the mirror. You quickly washed your face, trying to get rid of the swollen-red-blood-shot eyes. You took off your shirt and tried your best dealing with the bandages. You quickly got the bandages off of you when you heard a knock on the door.
"M-Min-ah?" Hyungseung's voice trailed from behind the door. "I got new bandages for your shoulder."
"Oh, t-thanks," you said and covered yourself with your shirt. You opened the door and Hyungseung handed you the bandages.
"Do you need help? I can bandage it for you."
"No, I'm fine. T-thanks."
Hyungseung walked back to the livingroom and you closed the door. You looked at the bandages. "I need to stop getting them in the way," you silently whispered. With that, you started to wrap your shoulder. Your words lingered in the bathroom, replaying in your head. Kikwang's limp body on the couch played back in your head. Tears start to form in your eyes. You wiped them away but they kept coming. In the end, you collapse onto the ground and broke into silent sobs. "Sorry," you whispered. "Sorry," you repeated, over and over again, tears falling down onto your cheeks, onto your hands, and onto your knees. You felt so helpless and so vulnerable, you didn't want to live anymore, like you could die then and there. But, you couldn't, you had to finish your unfinished business. Yep, time to deal with your damn problems. You can't runaway anymore. It's time you protected others instead of letting others protect you.
