Chapter 3 (crazy long chapter coming your way~)
“I’m not letting you do that. If you do that, you’re going to get backaches and your handwriting will be crazily horrible,” Luhan stated as he packed up his desk, chugging his books into the cupboard on the wall. “But hyung, I don’t want to bother you… you’ll need that desk, right?” Sehun retorted, pointing at the white desk.
“I’m not even studying anymore, I don’t need it, I can use my laptop on my bed. Just take the freaking desk,” Luhan replied. Next, Luhan went to his closet and took out sticky notes, tabs, highlighters and pens of many different colors, a pencil holder and a notebook, then placed them on the desk. “Sehun, come here and put all the highlighters and pens into the pencil holder. You can have all that, it comes in handy when you’re studying,” Luhan commanded.
“Umm… okay,” Sehun answered and started putting all the highlighters and pens into the pencil holder. When Sehun was done with that, Luhan called him over to the closet. “You have so many clothes, but I have a lot as well. You take this half of the closet and I’ll take the other. Cool with that?” Luhan asked. “Of course, hyung, you call the shots here.”
They started to move all the clothes around, once in a while making comments about each other’s clothes. When they were finally done with moving the clothes, their beds were in a total mess because the clothes had already messed the beds up.
“I’m the oldest in the team as of now, so I have a bathroom in my room. You can shower first, I’ll pack up around here and then I’ll shower and we’ll go eat dinner before Kyungsoo comes at us with a chopper,” Luhan told Sehun. Sehun grabbed a towel and went into the bathroom. Luhan neatened up the beds then texted Minseok, his roommate in China.
“Minseok, I have a new roommate in Korea,” he sent. “Can’t Jong-in share a room with him?” Minseok sent a question almost instantly. “I have no idea, but we’ve already rearranged everything. Guess you’ll have to share with Jong-in,” Luhan replied as Sehun walked out of the bathroom. Luhan grabbed his towel and went into the bathroom, leaving his phone on the desk. Luhan’s phone vibrated, catching Sehun’s attention. Sehun accidentally saw the text message that Minseok had sent to Luhan.
“But I want to share a room with you… I’ll persuade Joon Myun and Kyungsoo if I have to.” Sehun gasped. “I shouldn’t have read that, but what was that? Do I have to move out?” he asked himself.
Luhan got out of the bathroom really quickly. “Umm, hyung, you got a message just now,” Sehun told Luhan. “Thanks for the reminder,” Luhan thanked Sehun and read the message. “I think Sehun’s pretty nice to me, it wouldn’t hurt to be roommates with him. Plus, Jong-in isn’t that bad,” Luhan typed almost at the speed of light and hit the ‘send’ button.
“Come on, let’s go for dinner before Kyungsoo kills us,” Luhan told Sehun cheerily. “Yes, of course!” Sehun replied as Luhan flicked the light switch off and they walked over to the dining area of the dorm. “You two are finally here. What took you guys so long? You two want plates or bowls?” Kyungsoo asked. “Plates of course,” the two replied as Kyungsoo took out two plates and put scoops of pasta on them.
“So, Sehun, is Luhan treating you well?” Joon Myun asked, eyeing Sehun for signs of lying. “Yes, hyung has been really nice to me!” Sehun replied, smiling widely. “Wow, our ice prince is smiling! So it must be true,” Chanyeol smiled. “If he does anything bad to you, tell us, alright? We may be younger than him, but we still can help you,” Baekhyun added. “I think Luhan hyung is really nice, I doubt the day where he does something bad to me would ever come,” Sehun told Baekhyun.
“Do you always have to make me sound like the evil guy in this dorm?” Luhan snapped. “Well, you are the evil guy,” Jong-in spoke. “You guys don’t know how bad Minseok can be,” Luhan shook his head in disapproval. “Speaking of Minseok, when is he coming back? We need to make arrangements for his room and stuff,” Kyungsoo asked.
“He’s coming back next week, and he wants to share a room with me,” Luhan said as Sehun lost his appetite. “I’m not going to allow that. Your roommate is Sehun and it’s going to stay that way,” Joon Myun stated. “Minseok says he’s going to persuade you and Kyungsoo. I’m not sure how it’s going to turn out in the end, but you all know how thick-skinned Minseok is,” Luhan replied.
“He may be older than us, but it’s not like we’re not firm. Plus, he’s most probably with Jongdae now,” Joon Myun answered. “He’s always like that. Close with everyone, wanting to make the relationship better, and then going off with someone else,” Jong-in shook his head disapprovingly.
“Jong-in, someone ought to teach you some manners,” Kyungsoo told Jong-in. “Hyung, I’m really nice, don’t you know that?” Jong-in smiled like an angel. “Don’t try to deceive me; I’ve seen that way too much to fall for it.”
“I’m going to do my homework now,” Sehun stood up, left the dining area and headed for his room. He flicked the lights on, closed the door, rummaged through his bag and took out his Math book. Sighing, he turned to the first practice for algebra. He stared blankly at the first question, reading it over and over again, yet he was still unable to comprehend the question.
“You look troubled. You fine?” Luhan asked as he walked into the room, closing the door. “No, nothing’s wrong, I just can’t comprehend this question,” Sehun mumbled, annoyed by the question. Luhan grabbed the book without asking and read the question. “Do you even understand the topic? This question is pretty easy,” Luhan stated. “I don’t think I do. I was really tired from practicing till really late, so I didn’t quite understand what the teacher was saying,” Sehun replied.
“Textbook?” Luhan requested as Sehun passed Luhan his textbook. Flipping through the pages, Luhan made a face. He went over to the closet and took out an identical textbook, just older and messier, with paper sticking out everywhere. “I’ll teach you this topic from scratch, I’m pretty good at it, and you can have my textbook. Your textbook isn’t going to save your life,” Luhan stated, putting on his red framed spectacles.
Luhan explained everything all over again, asked Sehun questions and guided Sehun through the first few pages of work. An hour passed quickly and it was only then that Sehun understood the whole topic and was able to complete the questions independently. It was 9p.m. and Luhan was getting tired. “I’m sleepy, I’ll sleep first… wake me up if you don’t understand anything,” Luhan told Sehun and went to bed.
“I think I can understand everything pretty well now, so have a good night and don’t worry,” Sehun replied and went back to doing his Math questions. Two hours flew by, it was 11p.m. and Sehun was really tired, but he had finally completed all the work he had to complete. He stretched a little before putting his calculator, books and pencil case into his bag.
Sehun looked at the two beds that were joined together and sighed. Luhan’s arms were on Sehun’s bed, not leaving much space for Sehun. Though knowing that Luhan would try his best not to scold Sehun, Sehun didn’t have enough courage to wake Luhan up and get him to move. Carefully and gently, Sehun moved Luhan’s arms a little to the side, creating a bigger space for himself. “Such a sound sleeper… good night,” Sehun whispered as he flicked the lights off.
Sehun blinked sleepily as he hit the snooze button on his alarm clock. Soft rays of sunlight seeped through the translucent curtains and greeted him. It was then that he realized that Luhan’s arm was on him. “This guy… he doesn’t ever know where his arms go,” Sehun thought to himself and carefully moved Luhan’s arms away and got out of bed.
“What…” Luhan mumbled and blinked. “Did I wake you up? Sorry!” Sehun apologized, flustered. “What time is it?” Luhan asked. “7a.m., I need to go to school later,” Sehun answered. “Kyungsoo never wakes up till 9a.m., so I’ll help you prepare breakfast. You go get ready first,” Luhan got off the bed and dragged his feet to the kitchen. Sehun smiled as he grabbed his towel and went into the bathroom. “Luhan hyung is so nice to me,” he thought as he hummed a tune to himself.
“I’ll give him a hearty breakfast so he’ll stay alert in school today,” Luhan smiled at the thought. He took out a glass and filled it up with apple juice, then took out two slices of bread and spread jam on them. Remembering how little Sehun ate last night, he only gave Sehun two slices of bread, afraid that Sehun would not be able to finish his breakfast.
“Is that for me?” Sehun asked in a hushed voice, afraid to wake the other members up. “Yes, so eat up, and pay attention in school, alright?” Luhan told Sehun. Sehun nodded and ate his breakfast as Luhan watched a bit of television. When Sehun finished his breakfast, Luhan washed the glass and plate for him. “Bye, and remember to pay attention,” Luhan bid Sehun farewell. “Bye and I’ll ask the teacher if I don’t understand anything and hopefully I won’t bother you tonight!” Sehun smiled and closed the front door.
After Sehun left, Luhan glanced at the clock. “7.55a.m., what shall I do now?” he sighed and went to take a shower. In the end, he decided to go out for a walk in the park, and then have a practice session ahead of everyone else.
While walking, he passed by a bubble tea shop. “Oh the calories… just this once, Luhan, just this once,” he thought to himself and bought a cup of bubble tea. He had loved bubble tea ever since he was young, but Kyungsoo and Joon Myun always told him about the calories and how he might be too unfit to continue with his career in the future. From then on, he always thought twice before getting a cup of bubble tea.
He slowly strolled over to the SM building, found their practice room and starting practicing. Music helped him to escape reality, which is the reason why he chose this path in life.
