Performing Arts

 

“BYUN BAEKHYUN!” The sudden loud cries of his name sent the young boy toppling over the seat he was leaning against at the back. He landed with a loud crash on the floor, and whimpered as he rubbed his already sore butt.

 

“What the heck, Wu Fan?!” Baekhyun cried out loud as he shot dagger stares at his senior who hastily pulled him up.

 

“That is why chairs are meant to have FOUR legs, not TWO. Gosh, Bacon.” Kris tsked at the younger boy, who stared back in disbelief.

 

“What do you want?”

“Your help. Your ideas.”

“What?”

“Come on smart genius, I’m sure you’ll have a few ideas for me.”

“What ideas? What for?”

“Okay. It’s about Sooyoung and….the Prince.” Kris rolled his eyes at the last two words.

 

“What about them?” Baekhyun asked, slightly bored as he leaned in to grab his earphones on the desk.

 

“Why aren’t you the least worried for your noona?!” Accusation was shot at the calm younger boy, and Baekhyun snorted.

 

“Why should I be worried? I should be happy that Sooyoung and Prince Siwon are together right?”

“They are NOT together!”

“Mind I add that it’s the Crown Prince you’re talking about?”

“Yah!”

“Why are you so worked up anyway?”

“What, she’s my best friend obviously. What else can there be?”

“Oh I don’t know, maybe because you like her, idiot?”

 

Kris’ jaw dropped open. “What? I do not!”

 

Baekhyun chuckled. “Whatever you say.”

 

“So, are you going to help me or not?”

“What do you want me to do, really?”

“Give me ideas on how to stop Sooyoung from getting too attached to…..yeah.”

“I’m sorry, Kris. You’re in this alone this time.”

“WHAT?”

 

Baekhyun stood up and patted the older boy’s shoulder. “Sorry, hyung.”

 

“Hey! You owe me last time remember?”

 

“I owe you nothing when I fell down the chair.” Baekhyun left the room while whistling, leaving Kris alone in the empty room.

 

“Ungrateful brat!"

“Hey partner.” Sooyoung glanced up from her lab report and smiled in disbelief when she saw who had sat on the empty seat beside her. “Good afternoon to you too Pr—I mean, Siwon-sshi.”

 

“The other seats are full so…” Siwon shrugged casually and gave another charming smile at his seatmate, who laughed softly.

 

“What course are you majoring in, anyway?” Sooyoung asked politely.

“I’m only going to be here for a few months; therefore I’m not majoring in anything.”

 

“Wow. So you’re just dropping in classes by classes for fun?”

“Not all classes, only those that I find interesting.”

“And you find dissecting a frog interesting?” The brunette majoring in Biology raised an eyebrow.

 

Siwon smiled. “I think it’s looking at their tiny little organs that are interesting.”

 

They both laughed.

 

“You’re majoring in Biology right? Are you going to become a doctor or something?”

“Maybe.”

“Wow. You’re a smart genius then.”

 

“And you, my friend, should really start on your lab report.” Sooyoung pointed at the empty sheet of paper in front of Siwon and chuckled. Siwon glanced at his empty paper, and at Sooyoung’s already filled three and a half pieces of papers.

 

“That’s a lot of things to write.” Siwon gulped nervously.

“So start writing.” The brunette wrote her final word, closed the cap of her pen and stuffed her stationeries into her pencil case. “I’m done.” She said cheerfully.

 

“Are you going to leave now?”

“Yeah, I have a lunch date with Kris, Yoona and Tiffany.”

 

Siwon sighed. “Alright then.”

 

“Sorry.”

“It’s okay.”

 

Siwon waved goodbye at Sooyoung, who handed in her report and left the laboratory after returning Siwon’s wave. Siwon was still staring at the space where Sooyoung had just disappeared around the corner when he was poked by his right rib.

 

“Wow. Did she just dumped you aside and left?” Donghae—a childhood friend of the Prince asked as he plopped down on Sooyoung’s now empty seat.

 

Siwon laughed. “I guess so.”

 

“Unbelievable ain’t she?” Donghae chuckled. “I don’t think she fancies you much, Prince-sshi.”

 

“I never took in consideration that she might fancy me for being a Prince.”

“Of course. I doubt she even cares.”

“So tell me more about Choi Sooyoung, if you may.”

 

Donghae scoffed. “Are you interested in her?”

 

“Intrigued, to be quite honest.”

 

“For starters, she aces all her Biology tests and often scores full marks. Alongside Seohyun, I think both of them are the smartest among our age range.”

 

“Seohyun?”

 

“There, that quiet and well refined girl behind,” Donghae pointed over his shoulders. “We call her the smooth-haired, bright-eyed girl of 22, with a shy manner, a timid voice and a peaceful expression which is seldom disturbed.”

 

Siwon laughed. “Is she that quiet?”

 

“She’s actually a very innocent and sweet girl. I bet she still listens to nursery rhymes.” A forever amused Donghae said as he and Siwon stole another laugh.

 

“Sooyoung is also friends with Kris, also known as Wu Fan, and Tiffany Hwang and Im Yoona, that I’m sure you know.”

 

Siwon nodded his head.

 

“Tiffany is majoring in Fashion and is also in the University’s Orchestra team. She plays the flute.” Donghae smiled. “Yoona is majoring in Performing Arts.”

 

Siwon rose an eyebrow. “Is this Yoona the same Yoona, your childhood crush?”

 

Donghae grinned. “Maybe?”

 

“How about Kris?” Siwon asked then.

 

“Kris is majoring in Engineering but he’s also in the Drama Team, Sooyoung too actually.”

 

Siwon was slightly taken aback. “You mean Kris and Sooyoung both takes Performing Arts too, although they already have such a tough major?”

 

 “Performing arts which branches out to Drama,” Donghae corrected Siwon. “Both of them like performing, Kris once told me.”

 

The Prince was amused. “Well, thanks, Hae. What’s the difference anyway?”

 

“You’re welcome, Siwon. The difference is that Performing Arts branches off to a lot of branches for your royal information.” He teased and Siwon scoffed. “For example, Yoona, Sooyoung and Kris are in Theatrical while Tiffany, is in the Orchestra team. However, they’re all in one family—the Performing Arts’ Family!”

 

“Even if you don’t major in that course?” asked Siwon.

 

“Even if you don’t major in that course.” Donghae nodded his head in confirmation.

Day by day, Choi Sooyoung had gotten more famous. For starters, she had started receiving anonymous notes; some threatened to kill her while some just plain admiring her. She knew by getting so close and becoming one of Prince Siwon’s close friends in the U, she had automatically became a hero from a zero, not that she ever wanted to be that.

 

“Sooyoung you have got to do something about this madness!” Tiffany cried as she sank herself down onto her knees on the grass under the shaded tree. “His fangirls are so scary, they’ve been constantly following me around to get information about your relationship with the Prince, and I am not always patient!” She whined.

 

“Siwon has fangirls?”

 

“Are you even listening to me?” Tiffany groaned.

 

“Yes, of course I was. What am I supposed to do anyway?”

 

“Clarify your relationship with the Prince, to start things off.”

 

“Fany-ah, that’s what I’ve been doing all this while. No one seems to believe me, what do you want me to do?” Sooyoung sighed. She knew not only was she suffering, even her three closest friends were.

 

“The seniors are convinced you two are dating secretly.”

 

Sooyoung almost dropped the book on her hand.

 

“What??”

“That’s ridiculous!” A voice interjected their conversation and Kris steps in, his face showed that he wasn’t too happy about whatever he just heard.

 

“Yeah, I agree with Kris. Siwon and I are just friends.”

“But you call him by his name and so informally!”

“That’s because he asked me to!”

“And you think that is not enough for people to think you guys are together?”

 

Sooyoung sighed. “But we’re really not.”

 

“We know that, but they don’t.” Tiffany sighed as well while Kris could only cross his arms grumpily.
