Chapter 47

Jae Eun had spent enough time in the hospital. She had undergone some observations, physical and mental therapy from the doctor. Finally, the doctor told her the good news, that she can finally go home but after 3 days, she had to return to the hospital for a check-up.

Jae In, mother and Jae Eun are helping each other packing their things up.

“Are you excited, Jae Eun?” mother asked.

“Yes, umma. I can’t wait to see what’s outside waiting for me.” Jae Eun excitedly replied.

“Oh, you’ll really be shocked to see what’s waiting for you. You won’t like it.” Jae In joked.

“Why?” Jae Eun worriedly asked.

“Well… because… hmm…” Jae In stuttered, thinking of something else to say.

“Umm… because appa is waiting outside.” Jae In excused, showing a sarcastic smile.

Jae Eun wondered why Jae In threatened her about what’s outside. They finally exited the hospital and went to the car park where father is waiting… with someone else beside him.

As Jae Eun, Jae In and mother approaching father, Jae Eun noticed someone familiar and the excited smile on her face disappeared. Jae In noticed and chuckled.

“I warned you.” Jae In whispered, teasing Jae Eun.

“So, this is what you were talking about…” Jae Eun thought.

“Sehun-ah, I’m glad you’re here! Why don’t you help Jae Eun.” Jae In childishly teased as she ran to greet Sehun. Sehun obeyed and went over to Jae Eun.

Sehun took the stuffs Jae Eun was carrying away from her.

“I can handle this.” Jae Eun angrily muttered and walked straight ahead, ignoring Sehun.

Sehun caught up with her.

“But I insist.” Sehun said, finally taking the stuffs from Jae Eun. Jae Eun was left with no choice.

The family and Sehun drove home and there was awkward silence along the way.

As they arrived home, Sehun helped carry their things. Jae In assisted Jae Eun inside with mother.

“Oh, right, Sehun! Why don’t you eat lunch with us?” mother muttered.

Jae Eun was surprised.

“Ah… Ummm… Umma! He can eat somewhere else, you know.” Jae Eun interrupted.

“But he’s already here, why go far?” mother smiled.

“’But… I don’t think he’s hungry.” Jae Eun answered back.

“No, Jae Eun. He is hungry. Right, Sehun?!” Jae In teased.

Sehun slightly smiled.

“Then go eat somewhere else.” Jae Eun angrily told him and went directly inside with Jae In, leaving mother and Sehun.

“Why are you so mean?” Jae In asked, as they head upstairs.

“I’m not. I just don’t like him around. My appetite dies.” Jae Eun straightforwardly replied.

“Don’t mind him, Sehun-ah.” Mother told Sehun who was feeling down.

“I understand, ma’am. She just need more time.” Sehun sighed.

Mother sincerely nodded and led Sehun inside the house with father.

Mother had served the food in the table and it’s ready to be eaten.

Jae In rushed upstairs and went in their room where Jae Eun is resting, lying on her bed.

“Lunch is ready… and Sehun is joining us.” Jae In smiled.

“Then… I’m not eating.” Jae Eun replied.

“But you need to eat, Jae Eun.”

“I’ll eat when you’re all done.” Jae Eun answered.

“Whatever you say.” Jae In said and went down.

Mother, father, Jae In and Sehun were happily eating lunch. Jae Eun could hear their laughs and chattering.

“Tsk~ how could they eat like that when they have a sick daughter here.” Jae Eun angrily sighed.

“It’s Sehun’s fault! He could at least make an effort to force me eat with them but he did nothing.” Jae Eun muttered again.

Suddenly, Jae Eun felt her tummy growled. She’s hungry and enduring it.

“No, Jae Eun! Be strong! You are not an easy girl.” Jae Eun cheered herself.

Then she heard a knock on the door and someone came in.

Sehun came in, carrying a bed tray with food on it. Sehun laid it on Jae Eun’s lap where Jae Eun was blankly staring at it. Sehun sat beside her in bed.

“Eat.” Sehun simply said.

“I’m not gonna eat the food you brought.” Jae Eun strictly said.

“It’s the only food left for you.” Sehun replied.

Jae Eun’s tummy suddenly growled loudly, embarrassing Jae Eun. Sehun chuckled.

“See? Your tummy wants it.” Sehun smiled.

Jae Eun stared at Sehun’s eye smile. And then she blushed.

Jae Eun continued to ignore Sehun while eating the food. As she finished, she was fully satisfied while Sehun was watching her. Sehun set the tray aside from Jae Eun’s lap and sincerely looked at her. Jae Eun wondered.

“Can we talk?” Sehun innocently asked.

“Talk.” Jae Eun strictly said.

“Why are you mad at me?” Sehun frowned.

Jae Eun couldn’t answer. Somehow, she learned to forgive and forget what Sehun had said in their first meeting and she had learned to get used to Sehun as days passed bu, that she forgot why she’s acting like this to Sehun.

“Umm…” Jae Eun thought.

“Jae Eun-ah, I can make you remember everything in the past if you let me to. But it seems like you don’t want to.” Sehun said.

“It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just that… I’m scared… I’m scared that if we do it all over again, I could commit the same mistakes again. I’m scared to lose something I cherish again.” Jae Eun calmly replied.

“Then if you don’t want to lose something precious to you again, why aren’t you taking me back?” Sehun sincerely asked.

“Because I don’t feel it anymore, Sehun. I don’t feel anything towards you anymore. I don’t even know how I loved you or how much. I want to know if I’ll feel incomplete without you in my new life, ‘cause maybe if it turn out that way, I would know. I can’t just take you back, Sehun-ah.” Jae Eun innocently answered.

“Why do you even want me back when I’m not the Jae Eun you used to know anymore?!” Jae Eun added.

“I… don’t know. I don’t know why I keep on loving you despite the fact that I’ll get hurt again just like before. I never learn ‘cause I don’t want to. Not now when I’m still strong to fall for you over and over again.” Sehun sincerely replied.

Jae Eun sincerely stared at the down-looking Sehun.

“Okay… I’ll give you a chance. I won’t be mean to you anymore. I won’t get annoyed or irritated. I will try not to complain. But don’t expect too much, I don’t want you to get disappointed. Also, when I really don’t feel anything, don’t force me. When I tell you to stop… you have to stop and forget about me.” Jae Eun cleared.

Sehun sighed and nodded.

“Jae Eun-ah, I don’t expect you to feel the same just like before. I know it won’t be easy but I hope you’ll be patient with me.” Sehun said.

“Please… be patient.” He added.
