Chapter 26

It’s now only a week left before the yuletide ball celebration. Myungsoo started being busy again because of band practice. Jae Eun and Myungsoo had spent days together before Myungsoo got busy. Its Jae In’s busy week too, since she had to help prepare for the event’s needs. As the student body president, she had to focus on working with it and sometimes, she comes home late at night. But despite that, Myungsoo and Jae In still manage to spend time together, relieving each other’s stresses.

Myungsoo would spend lunchtime with Jae In while after classes, he would go out with Jae Eun.

Jae Eun hasn’t forgotten about what Jae In had told her. All this time spending with Myungsoo, she can’t help but remember Jae In’s words.

“In case Myungsoo forgot to tell you too, Myungsoo and I are still together. He… just can’t afford to lose me.” Jae In smirked.

It would echo on her mind everytime she’s with Myungsoo. But she still had no courage to ask Myungsoo about it because she’s scared to know that Myungsoo’s love for Jae In is much greater than his love for her. She’s scared that Myungsoo would leave her.

It’s Monday and there is only 6 days left for the yuletide ball. It’s on Saturday night.

Jae eun’s mind is still confused.

As classes started, their homeroom teacher greeted them and has someone behind her.

“Okay class, please settle down now.” The teacher said, scolding the class who was all busy chatting. As the class silenced, the student behind the teacher came forward when the teacher gestured her to do so.

Jae Eun wasn’t focusing on the teacher. She was busy scribbling down anything she could hear from the background, like some words the teacher says. Jae In was friendly enough to show an excited, bright smile to the student behind their teacher. Sehun, who is also from their class, was showing a shocked expression to the student.

“Class, before we start, I want to introduce to you your new classmate. She’s a transferee student from Japan. Although she enrolled late, the school accepted her for her excellent grades and she’s active in school activities as well.” The teacher explained.

“C’mon, introduce yourself.” The teacher told the student who was shyly smiling at her.

The student turned her attention to the class and smiled prettily at them.

At this moment, Jae Eun wasn’t still focusing.

“Hello everyone! My name is Kim Nayoung. I’m Korean but my family migrated in Japan. I hope we’ll be friends. Please take care of me.” The student named Nayoung introduced.

As soon as Jae Eun heard her name, she paused and her eyes widened.

Jae Eun looked at Nayoung and got shocked. Sehun was also still in shock while Jae In was excited.

“Nayoung, if you have any difficulties, you can ask Jae In for guidance. She’s our student body president.” The teacher advised.

“Yes, ma’am.” Nayoung politely replied.

The teacher led Nayoung to an empty seat just inches away from Jae Eun. Jae Eun’s eyes were glued on her.

“Nayoung-ah.” Jae Eun softly called out.

Nayoung looked at Jae Eun. Jae Eun smiled and waved at her. Nayoung on the other hand, stared blankly at Jae Eun.

“Jae In?”  Nayoung wondered.

“No! It’s me… Jae Eun.” Jae Eun whispered. Nayoung gasped and smiled excitedly at Jae Eun.

“What happened to you?” Nayoung asked.

“Okay, let’s start our lesson for today.” The teacher announced.

Jae Eun was about to reply to Nayoung but the teacher is starting her lessons already.

“Let’s talk later.” Nayoung softly whispered.

The lunch break bell rang. Everyone who knew Nayoung was excited to approach her, that includes Jae Eun, Jae In and Sehun.

Jae Eun immediately went over at Nayoung. Jae In did too. Sehun was about to approach her but he saw Jae Eun with Nayoung already, so he chose to avoid.

“Nayoung-ah!” Jae Eun excitedly called and hugged her tightly.

“Hello Nayoung! Long time no see.” Jae In happily greeted.

“Jae Eun! Jae In! It’s nice to see you again. I missed you both!” Nayoung greeted while hugging Jae eun. They soon pulled their bodies away to have a proper talk.

“Let’s have lunch together.” Jae In suggested. And she meant to say it to Jae Eun too.

Jae Eun and Nayoung nodded.

Kim Nayoung is Sehun and Jae Eun’s bestfriend in middle school. She is as tall as Jae Eun, cute, pretty, smart and is everyone’s ideal girl. She’s very friendly too. She left Korea after graduating middle school because her family decided to migrate in Japan. She had a huge crush on Sehun and used to be Jae Eun’s rival in Sehun’s heart.

“Nayoung-ah, it’s been ages. How are you?” Jae Eun excitedly asked as soon as they had seated on an empty cafeteria table.

 “I’m good. Everything’s well now. Umma has recovered as well.” Nayoung replied.

“Is that why you’re here? Are you really back for good?” Jae In asked.

“Oh… not really. Actually… Sehun contacted me. And well, my mother agreed to let me continue studying here.” Nayoung smiled.

When Jae Eun heard Sehun’s name, her excitement was replaced by a frown.

“Jae eun-ah, how are you and Sehun anyway? Getting stronger?” Nayoung asked, clueless to the situation.

“Umm… Nayoung-ah…” Jae In muttered sincerely.

“Sehun and I are over, Nayoung.” Jae Eun exclaimed.

“Oh… I’m sorry, I didn’t know.” Nayoung pitifully said.

“It’s okay. We’re totally over each other now.” Jae Eun smiled.

Nayoung smiled back as well but Jae In was serious.

“Jae In, what about you, are you with someone now?” Nayoung changed the topic and turned her attention to Jae In.

“Oh!” Jae In gasped. Jae In smiled and then shyly nodded. Jae Eun was not pleased.

Nayoung smiled at her.

“Jae Eun-ah… “ Nayoung softly called.

“Yes?” Jae Eun replied.

“Since Sehun’s free now, is it okay if I pursue him?” Nayoung innocently asked.

Jae In’s eyes widened. Jae Eun was shocked as well.

“Oh… Umm…” Jae Eun stuttered. “Well… it’s up to you. You don’t really have to ask my permission.” Jae Eun continued.

“Really? I just wanted to make sure. But no hard feelings, okay? We’ll still be bestfriends?” Nayoung sincerely asked.

“Of course! Of course… I’ll support you with your decision.” Jae Eun cheered. But deep inside, something was bothering her.

Jae Eun went home as soon as classes were dismissed. Jae In stayed in school for awhile to work on some unfinished business.

Jae Eun was still bothered by Nayoung’s sudden appearance.

Why is she back? Did Sehun really ask her to come back? It’s weird, we were just talking about her days ago and now she suddenly appears?! She’s so pretty now.Jae Eun thought to herself.

After a few hours, Jae In appeared in the room.

“Oh! You’re early.” Jae Eun muttered.

“Yeah, we kind of needed a break anyway. But there’s still a lot of work to do.” Jae In replied as she sat on the study desk, looking tired and stretching her arms out.

“Unni… about Nayoung…”Jae Eun said.

“Oh yeah, about her… I saw her with Sehun this afternoon. I guess she really is serious with pursuing Sehun, huh?!” Jae In exclaimed.

Jae eun went blank. She forgot what she was about to say.  She even can’t react to what she heard.

Jae In looked sincerely at Jae Eun. She looked at little worried and sad.

“Jae Eun-ah… Nayoung’s back. What should you do?” Jae In sincerely asked Jae Eun.
