He decided to walk past the cafe the next day, fabricating an excuse that he needed to find inspiration, but he secretly hoped of passing by her again.
There were even more people at shops and cafes than there was yesterday. Especially more couples. His mood became slightly sour from the overly romantic atmosphere.
If I had a girlfriend, I wouldn't mind all of this love-dovey crap, but why do I have to be walking in the middle of it all alone?
Couples right and left were so caught up in each other's company, that they often bumped into him. One of the couples bumped him hard enough to where he stumbled.
"So sorry!" said the man, but that was the last straw for Kris.
"Yah, can't you talk and watch where you're going at the same time?" he said crudely.
"Now now there's no need for that, it's Valentine's Day for crying out loud." replied the man.
"Eh!? Valentine's Day?" he finally looked around, enough to realize that all the couples were out because of Valentines Day. "Ah, I see. Sorry sorry." he said, turned his back, and walked away.
His lips were pressed together, he was in an even more sour mood.
Valentine's Day. The day when I don't' have a girlfriend.
He put his hands on his head and cried out, "It's not fair!" Some bystanders turned around and starred, only then did it occur to him that he said it out loud. He gave them a weary smile and went back to his sulking, sticking his hands back in his pockets.
When he reached the spot where he first saw her, he glanced across the street, but didn't recognize any of the figures there. Finally he turned his head to make sure, she wasn't there.
Well what would you have done if you saw her anyway. She could have a boyfriend, and is out with him somewhere.
When he was about to turn around to leave, he decided to himself, Maybe I can ask someone that works their if they've seen her…is that weird? But I have nothing to lose so might as well…
He pushed back any doubtful thoughts, and before he could change his mind, he crossed the street to the cafe.
He was greeted with a coffee aroma, and headed straight to a counter where a man, around the age of 40, was putting away clean dishes. Kris asked him, "Do you know if a girl with long black hair, fare skin and blue eyes came in earlier today?" He knew that description was enough for the man to know who he was talking about, Korean's normally didn't have blue eyes. Her eyes didn't strike him as odd, but only different and pretty.
"She left ten minutes ago, I believe she made a right on her way out." he said, he didn't bother turning around.
"Thanks." he replied, and headed towards the door. The same disappointment ran through him, in fact it made him slightly bitter.
Did you really ask for a girl you don't even know? Get it together, you pass by people all the time without any feelings. Well, it's too late anyway…he sighed and decided to go back home.
When he walked out the door, and made a right to walk back to his house, but up ahead he saw a slender figure with long black shining hair. Even though her back faced him, he was still able to recognize her. There was no way he could forget someone so beautiful. She walked at a calm, slow pace, and was looking straight ahead to where the park is. She held a sketch book in her right hand.
An artist? Seems to suit her, she seem's elegant from the way she walks. he pondered over her, until he realized what he was thinking.
So? Who cares if she is. I'm an artist too, I'm elegant too. I create too, just songs though. Is my head getting in the clouds? He shook his head, hoping his mind would remain clear.
I can't see what she'll draw, how weird! Some guy just watching her draw… he shivered at the thought of anyone watching her.
Well she's going to the direction of where my house is, might as well go home then.
Besides, I have something else I want to write.
His pace was faster than her's, so it only took him a minute or until he was right behind her.
Maybe I should say hi. That's being friendly right? Or maybe she'll get a wrong idea.
He was right next to her by then, his walking speed decreased because he was so unsure on what to do. The perfume smell of violets emanated from her. The scent engulfed his mind, and actually soothed him instead of giving him a headache like most perfumes do to him.
Just turn your head and say hi. And don't forget to smile!
He glanced at her, long enough to see what expression was on her face. Her lips had a slight smile, her eyes were unfocused, he could tell she was lost in her own world, oblivious to his presence.
She doesn't know I'm there anyway. No use trying to get her attention right?
He picked up his pace and headed home.
Stop thinking about this so much.
"I closed my eyes again in case it would be a dream
You were standing in front of my desperate self and praying
Just once, I want to walk side by side with you"
He scrawled the lyrics down in a notebook. It was normal for him to write like this, phrases would come to him, he could never write in order like a story. But in the end, all of his writing came together like a story.
He leaned back, admiring his work and tried to pick out any fragments left from his head. As he was searching his mind, he remembered that he had to pick up some things from a friend.
Aish, how come I couldn't remember that when I was already out.
He grabbed a jacket and headed out the door.
It was around 4 o'clock when he left his apartment, the afternoon slowly adjusting to evening. The park that he passed by still had children roaming around, couples huddled closely on benches or walking hand in hand. But one person stood out from the rest.
A girl, or rather, a woman sat on a bench facing away from him, with the same slender figure, and same long black hair. He was surprised how easy it was to recognize her. She was diligently sketching out two girls playing, both around the age of six as they giggled at each other. Kris stared at the picture, entranced by how in the moment she was, how at peace she seemed. She was doing what she loved, he could tell, he recognized the feeling that she emitted. The same passion he feels when he writes his music. He walked passed her without a word or expression of interest, but inside, he couldn't comprehend why he was so mesmerized by that moment.
What the hell, Kris, get it together. He shook his head, and walked on.
(A/N: I'm actually reeeally enjoying writing this story. I have an image of what the girl is like, but developing her character without words has been a challenge, yet really fun :D I'm excited about this one guys. Don't be afraid to give me feed back ^-^ and I hope I didn't miss any spelling/major grammar errors XD (I'm terrible with verb tenses).
The lyrics used in this chapter is EXO's song Angel. The previous chapter's lyrics was from the lyrics History. I won't mash it into one song lol. I do not take credit from any of these lyrics, obvi XD
