Chapter 01.

...On a rainy day...

 

“It’s pouring again.”  Yoona mumbled and couldn’t hide her excitement.

 

Rain has always meant something to her, she couldn’t tell what it was exactly but… the feeling she had when it was raining was priceless. She wants to meet him… her one and only soul mate on a rainy day.

 

“Yoona, when will you stop loving these rainy days? I personally hate them. I’m just getting dirty.” Yoona’s best friend Yuri said with a grimace on her face.

“Never, Yuri ah. You should love rainy days too. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to confess your feelings and get accepted.” Yoona teased, earning her a slap on her arm.

 

“Yah! Get accepted? Who am I?”

 

“Kwon Yuri?” A sweet voice called from behind Yuri. A voice she had been waiting for probably.

 

“Yes, that’s me.” She quickly turned around as if she knew it would happen.

 

“You … must have dropped your ID card near my locker.” He handed her an ID card.

 

“Thank you, Minho.” Yuri grinned and waved him goodbye.

 

“You did it on purpose.” Yoona stated.

 

“You always think the worst of me, don’t you?” Yuri shot her a glare, though she did it on purpose somehow… the only thing was she didn’t have high expectations that Minho will personally give it back to her.

 

“Just because you are forcing me to do so.” Yoona said with a grin.

 

Yuri shook her head and linked her arms with Yoona. Yoona was, is and will be her best friend. They had known each other since kindergarten and had been hanging out with each other since then. Yuri was quite popular and had many admires while... Yoona was hated by the “famous group”. In other words, Yoona was sort of invisible to everyone in this school. She didn’t hate it but didn’t love it either. But that was life and she didn’t want to do anything to change that matter of fact.

“Still smiling, beautiful?” Seung Hee asked Yoona as she was passing her in Biology.

 

“Leave me alone.” Yoona said coldly.

 

“Don’t try to be the good girl here. I know you better than you think.” Seung Hee said sarcastically.

 

“Seung Hee? Please get back to your seat.”  The Biology teacher said and also saved Yoona with that.

 

Seung Hee shot Yoona a glare and unwillingly got back to her seat. Seung Hee didn’t know Yoona, not even a bit. She hated Yoona that much just because all the teachers like Yoona and always compliment her on how perfect she was. Yoona never liked it, so did Seung Hee. Seung Hee was like the Queen of the Seoul High School. Every student in this school worshipped her like the god, they obeyed her, did every thing she asked for, but not Yoona. Seung Hee could do anything she likes, could take control of anyone she wants, apart from Yoona.

 

“We’ll be doing this Biology project, guys.” The teacher said, ended her train of thoughts. “Open the book page 145 – everything you need to know about the project will be there. Next week each group will hand me the exercise, there won’t be any excuses – no one.” He said strictly.

 

“Yoona, you’ll be working with… uhm… Seung Hee!”  He said and went on pairing other groups up, ignoring all the noise Seung Hee was making.

 

“It can’t get worse…”Yoona sighed.   

 

Soon, which seemed more like a long time for Yoona the bell rang and school was finally out. She hoped it would still be raining and it was! She smiled as she went to her locker to get her umbrella. Walking under the rain gives her pleasure. And besides, she was pretty sure Yuri wanted to be alonetoday, she saw her walking with Minho when she got out of class.

 

Yuri happily gave her a happy wink and gave her a gesture meaning “I’ll call you to tell the details later.”

Yoona looked around and watched people crossing the roads, hurried to find a shelter or she was just standing there to enjoy the pleasure rain was giving, to enjoy the feeling of every tear drop falling on the ground… She stood there under the rain.

 

“May I…?”

She turned around and faced a boy - the first boy who has ever talked to her first. He smiled and showed her his blinking eyes. They were beautiful and attractive eyes. She would have never thought of this, especially when it came to a boy. But he was – and she couldn’t deny that fact – cute!

 

“Ah… Uhm… Sure.” She blushed a little and stepped aside to let the boy get under the umbrella with her. It was raining more and more heavily…

 

“You were watching the rain?” He asked curiously.

 

“Yeah, I love the rain. It amazes me all the time.” She smiled, a smile that was beautiful and that made him feel like smiling too.

 

“I can understand that.” He chuckled.

 

Both fell into an awkward silence. Yoona bit on her lips and asked herself what Yuri would have said in a situation like this. They walked and didn’t say anything to each other. The strange thing was that she couldn’t stop smiling and somehow she was feeling happy – even if she had to do the stupid Biology project with Seung Hee. A true nightmare.

 

They stopped at a zebra stripe and waited for the lights to turn green.

 

“Well, I need to go now. Thanks ... Yoona” His last words surprised her. She gave him a curious look. Does she know him?

 

He got out of the umbrella and quickly ran across the road. He was about to turn to a corner when Yoona’s voice called him.

 

“What’s your name by the way?” She shouted as loud as she could.

 

“I’ll tell you but not now!” He answered and disappeared right after that.

 

It was the first time she’s ever felt like this. She rarely talked to a boy. To her they were just uninteresting but this time – it was different. His smile melt her heart and made her feel like she was having butterflies in her stomach…

 

A smile was plastered on her face without her knowing it. That was how she met him. She met him… on a rainy day.
