Ohmygodsun!

He is known by many names. Kim Junsu. Xiah. Susu. Dolphin. Duckbutt.

But he will always be TVXQ’s smile maker, now and forever.

Although Junsu was born on December 15th 1986, his registered birthdate remains January 1 1987.  He was born and raised in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea and has an older fraternal twin brother called Kim Junho- whom he is very close to. Junsu was signed by SM Entertainment after his participation in the 6th Annual Starlight Casting System along with his school friend and classmate, Lee Hyuk-Jae. (Who later debuted as Eunhyuk in Super Junior) He joined SM Entertainment at the tender age of eleven, and his first contract began on the 12th of February, 2000. 

In 2002,  Junsu along with Eunhyuk and another trainee Sungmin (Who later debuted in Super Junior) were placed in a project R&B group. They appeared on a show called “2002 Survival Audition - Heejun vs Kangta, Battle of the Century and three future rock band members TRAX. (Jay Kim, No Minwoo, Kang Jungwoo) They were judged and mentored by Moon Heejun and Kangta, two members of the legendary group H.O.T. Kangta praised Junsu highly in the show, saying that he had potential as a lead vocalist. In 2003, the trio disbanded as Junsu went on to debut as a member in TVXQ.

Junsu was the first to join TVXQ, and had spent the longest time as a trainee- approximately six years. Finally he debuted as one of the main vocalists and a secondary dancer in TVXQ.

Junsu is known for numerous things, one being his loud and noisy laugh-which the members have playfully dubbed as “eu kyang kyang”. His laugh is said to greatly resemble a dolphin’s. Junsu is also known for his curvaceous butt, earning him the nickname “Duckbutt.” Another trait Junsu is famous for is his broken english, his most well-known line coming from TVXQ’s vacation in Saipan, where he burst out “Oh my god sun!” as they were playing badminton.  Finally, Junsu is known as the mood-maker in TVXQ. In rain or shine, Junsu is always seen with a bright smile on his face, and he is normally the most innocent and gullible member out of TVXQ, making him the easiest to play pranks on or tease. In Japan, Junsu became the joker in TVXQ due to his incessant oyaji gags. (Which literally translates to “old-man gags” in English) 

However, despite being a joker and a generally carefree person, Junsu remains one of the most well-balanced stars in TVXQ due to his equally matched abilities of both dancing and singing.

TRIVIA ABOUT XIAH JUNSU

Junsu is 178cm and weighs 60kg.

His blood type is B.

He is an avid soccer fan and enjoys watching it with the TVXQ members.

He is normally found gaming in a PC room with his twin brother- and he continued to do this even when TVXQ was in Japan.

He is the mid-high vocalist in TVXQ.

He is a talented songwriter, and has written numerous songs for TVXQ’s albums such as “Rainy Night” from TRICK.

In 2006, Junsu collaborated with fellow label-mate Zhang Liyin for her debut song “Timeless.”

His favourite number is 2.

Junsu chose the name “Xiah”, saying that it was the “sia” taken out of “Asia”. This represents his desire to be recognised not only in Korea, but all over Asia.

Junsu’s fans (dubbed Xiahtics) have formed a charity organization called “Xiah Soul” in 2008 to fund hearing-impaired children or teenagers.

Junsu has also been secretly working for “Building houses of love” project, which is an organization dedicated to helping disadvantageous children in the Dangjin-Gun area.

His favourite colours are blue and purple.

Junsu has playfully declared that he can speak Kenyan, and famously sprouts nonsense phrases, continuously ending it with a “Bambiya”.

He said in an interview that he went through a very rough stage of puberty when his voice was changing.

He has sensitive teeth, and it hurts when he eats ice-cream.

He is a left-hander (along with Micky Yoochun and U-know Yunho)

Jaejoong, Yunho and Junsu often share underwear with one another.

Junsu doesn’t drink alcohol.

The other TVXQ members enjoy bullying Junsu, such as whenever they do their "fighting" statements, Junsu is always the last to say his.

Junsu's mother was a Miss Korea contestant.

He was the one who persuaded Jaejoong to dye his hair blond in 2007.

Junsu’s debut concept was originally to be the “charismatic” one, but after he had struck the infamous “angel pose”, Changmin’s cute concept was snatched and Junsu became the dark horse for cute images.
