S i x t h A n t e r o o m: Releasing

“Aren’t you even curious to know why we’re keeping you tied to that chair?”he approached his face to mine so that I could clearly see the spark in his eyes. “Aren’t you angry about this? Aren’t you afraid, Song Eun Rim?”

I stared in his brownish eyes, but didn’t bother to give him an answer.

“Aren’t you afraid of what’s going to happen to you?”

“I know you, Park Sang Hyun,”I then said, smirking while my long hair was falling on my shoulders down to my waist in a mess. “You’re one hell of a sadist! You enjoy seeing me tied up. You enjoy when you hear my screams. So what’s the point of your questions after all? Just to make a recording of my voice? Don’t joke around with me!”

He stared at me for a second. But then he took the syringe and I felt the needle’s sting in my left arm.

“This will calm you down, missie,”he smiled like a mad man. “And then we can continue our conversation. You’re actually an interesting one, Eun Rim. You’re the most interesting speciment I ever met in my whole career,”he lifted my chin making me look at his pleased face. “And you know why?”

My whole body went numb and my chin fell on my chest as he released me.

“When I came to you this morning, you were sleeping. Or at least, that’s what I thought,”he continued as he placed something heavy on the laboratory’s table. “I was going to let you sleep for a little longer. But then I saw the light that came from under your dress. I was curious…I don’t remember you having any kind of tattoos when you were brought here. And this one was a shiny thing.”

I could feel his smile in his voice. It gave me the creeps to know that he lifted my dress while I was…away. To know that he looked at my bare legs…

“You weren’t sleeping, Eun Rim.” It wasn’t a question. “So where were you?”

“Here…there,”I laughed, still unable to lift my head. “Sorry for not inviting you to come with me. You would have liked that place.”

“Cut that crap, young lady!”he caught my chin and lifted it up so that I could meet once again his sparkling eyes. “I know what you are. I studied you. I studied this kind of people way before you knew about my existence. I know there’s something paranormal about you. But I just can’t put my finger on it…yet.”

The steps went away for a few minutes, leaving me all alone. Thunder was quite something! He loved to play tough and having you wrapped all around his finger, but sometimes he would turn all soft. His weak point? I don’t think I would be mistaken if I’d say that it was me. Me as in my body. I knew it from the moment we met that my body was going to play a big part in our relationship. But, would I be able to let him touch me? How far would I go to make him lose his sanity?

My muscles started to relax and I could finally move my head. I looked around me. The other laboratory assistants were minding their own businesses while Thunder was preparing something in a glass. He was concentrating on what he was doing and no one seemed to observe that blue flame that was burning bright around him. And it was that moment when I just had to trust Seung Ho’s words. Maybe, just maybe Thunder was something like me, a paranormal activity of a left out soul…

“Now, will you tell me where you were?”he came in front of me, holding the glass in his hands. I didn’t like the color of the liquid. It looked like pus…all white-yellowish and stinking like rotten meat. “Aren’t you too stubborn, Song Eu Rim?”

“Blame my father for that,”I smirked, looking straight into his eyes.

“Too bad he isn’t here to take this instead of you,”he wiggled the glass in front of my eyes.

“Write him a letter. He’ll come in no time,”I mocked, trying to think about a method on how to escape him.

“So, where were you? What did you see? What was shown to you, missy?”he approached even more.

“Are you really that interested?”I whispered as I leaned forward.

He didn’t more an inch. I could feel his warm breath against my lips, but I didn’t move either. Not that I like the position we were in! But I had to…

“So?”he asked. His white robe’s sleeve lifted up a little, letting his wrist free. And that’s how I saw it. The Sign. A burning eagle with a fierce look in his eyes was burning on his skin, making the air sparkle around him. I smirked.

“You’re next,”I said aloud, my eyes never leaving his.

“What do you talk about there?”

“You’ll see. You’re next! Just wait a little longer.”

“Song Eun Rim! I demand you to tell me what are you talking there about!”he frowned, placing the glass on the metal table. “Tell me or I swear that I’ll take every single word out from you with this pair of tongs!”he approached me holding a rusty instrument.

“Touch me and you’ll drop dead!”I hissed, pulling the cuffs that were trapping me on the metal chair.

“So you’ll use your ‘supernatural’ powers on me? Yeah, right!”

He approached the tongs to my face and I started trembling. He was right. I had no awesome, supernatural powers that could stop him from ripping off my tongue or my teeth.

“Next time you talk like that, please remember who you are,”I heard his whisper as I felt his hand traveling up on my leg, lifting the dress I was wearing.

I chucked. “You’re right, Park Sang Hyun. Even at this time, you’re right. Now, if you please…TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF OF ME! ‘COZ I AM THE SIGN! THE RULER OF THE OTHER PORTALS AND THE KEY TO THE GATE! TO THE SOUND OF MY VOICE THE ARMY OF HELL IS TREMBLING AND YET YOU DARE TO TOUCH ME?!”my voice echoed inside the laboratory’s walls. It was a deep voice that did not sound like mine. It was a command. Every single word held the force of a tsunami. They all obeyed. They had to do it. “PARK SANG HYUN, I WARNED YOU HAVEN’T I? YOU’RE NEXT.”

The flames that covered my skin burned the cuffs and I stood from my chair and walked towards him. He stumbled on his feet and hit the metal table behind him.

“IS THIS THE SUPERNATURAL POWERS YOU WERE TRYING TO MAKE ME SHOW YOU? IS THIS WHAT YOU WERE TRYING TO SEE? THEN FEEL THEM ON YOUR OWN SKIN!”

One single, burning finger touched the place where his Sign was burning the skin with a weak flame. And he began screaming, landing on his knees while looking at his burned wrist.

“W-what did you do to my hand?!”he cried in shock. “My hand! It’s all burned!”

An evil laugh escaped my lips. The whole staff was trembling in fear. I liked it. The smell of their insecurity and terror. It was…tasty.

“W-what’s this?”Thunder voice made me turn to him once again. “The flames…”

Now that tattoo was burning brighter. And even he could feel it. The Powers that were flowing inside of him, giving him the strenght he never had. He stood up and looked at me with mad eyes. He grabbed my wrist. Now, my flames were no longer burning him. We both were burning, each with his unique flame, resulting quite a lovely purple.

“Who are you in reality, Song Eun Rim?”

I smirked. “I AM THE SIGN. YOUR MASTER AND YOUR LOVER. YOUR LIFE AND YOUR DEATH. I AM WHAT YOU SEEKED FOR ALL THIS TIME AND WHAT YOU SHOULD RUN FROM. I AM YOUR BIGGEST FEAR, PARK SANG HYUN!”

I looked at the wooden cross that was on the wall in front of my bed. Why did I feel like  I was the only profane presence in the room? Was there even a God somewhere out there?

I turned on the other side on my bed. That was no more place in my head for thoughts like those. Even if there was a God or a Buddha or an Allah or anything else that had something to do with divinity, he turned its back on us and forgot all about our existence. Yeah, thanks a lot!

The door creaked silently and I heard Thunder tip-toeing inside.

“What?”I asked in the dark, without bothering to open my eyes.

“Take this off of me,”his voice travelled to me in the form of a whisper. “Take it off…it’s…eating me alive…”

“What are you talking there about?”I reached for the lamp’s switcher. “Are you insane?”

His eyes were red from all the sleepless nights he had before deciding to come inside my room. He was unshaved and his wrist was red from all the cuts he made on the white skin…a red spot indicated that he tried to cut out the tattoo.

“You’re the one that’s insane,”he laughed while walking around like an animal trapped in a cage. “Talking about Hell and portals and powers…All of that is bullshit! And you know it very well! There’s no such thing as Heaven and Hell. ‘Coz if there is, then this is Hell for sure! I’m telling you, there’s no way I’m believing all that shit you said to me. You’re just Song Eun Rim, the craziest woman I met!”

I chuckled. “So I’m a woman in your eyes?”

He stared at me. “What’s that have to do with what I said just now?”

“It’s tour own choice if you believe it or not,”I shrugged, putting off the light and pulling over the cover over my body. “It is your sin that made you what you are,”I continued after a while. “You can’t endure the pleasure’s torture and yet you never gave in. That’s what made you one of the chosen ones. You shouldn’t be afraid, Thunder.”

“Chosen ones? Are there others like…me?”

“Like us,”I corrected him. “And yes. At least, I think so.”

“You’re crazy.”

“Probably.”

“And I’m even more crazy,”he mumbled in the darkness. “And if there are others, how are we going to find them?”

“They will find us,”I answered, not knowing what else to tell him. “This is our gift and curse,”I continued as I snapped my fingers, making the red flames appear around my palms. “We have to live with them now that we discovered them. I think…I think there will be something to do as soon as we’re all together.”

The flames that lit the darkness showed me a frowning Thunder. He was having a debate with himself. To believe or not what was revealed to him. Was it a dream or reality had gone insane around him? He took a quick glance at his blue tattoo and touched it with his index finger. There were feelings behind that touch.

“Come,”he called, stretching his hand towards me.

“Where?”I cautiously took his hand.

“You’re moving out of this box,”he smiled as he led the way on the dark corridor.

We were now a team. The First Portal and the Second Portal were together after a million of years from the world's creation.

But what was our supreme mission on this dying Earth?

Aigooo! I'm such a turtle when it comes to updating *giggles* Hope you don't mind though...

I have so many things falling on my head right now. It's like the teachers are going insane this last month and a half of school that remained...projects and tests, papers to give to them and a whole lot of other crazy things. Heheheheh...hope you enjoyed reading this chapter! And I'm sorry for updating this slow! I feel like it takes me forever to write the new chapters *cries cries* I'm having a break down...
