Me, Yee Ji Lin

My life is horrible.

Well, you can say used to, I guess.

Okay.

My life was horrible.

Before I got accepted Gylim Park High, a special school for the gifted. People nicknamed our school Eolgani High which meant 'Nerd High'.

I was really good at academics. Namely, writing and math. Of course, I got teased about it during primary school. And those pre-teen times. 

I can't really help it if I'm smart. It just comes easily to me. Honest.

But do those kids care? No. Not at all.

I begged my parents to go to some school for gifted kids; just so I wouldn't be teased. I hated being helpless.

They finally gave in and for my freshman year, I was one of them. I actually fitted in. 

And I felt pretty happy about that. Until I realized I was probably the least gifted out of everyone.

Every person I met had an amazing talent and what did I have?

Brains. That's it. I felt so lame.

Umma kept saying it was fine. Sure, it was fine. But when in art class you're compared to someone's painting that looks like an EXACT replica of Van Gogh, you can't help but feel pretty shot down.

I lived through it of course.

Now back to Gylim Park. All the kids called it Eolgani High; even the teachers. Just the headmaster thought it was inappropriate and disrespectful.

It was a pretty school, rich and clean. All the public school students hated it. They vandalized our school plenty of times; all the old tricks: toilet paper, grafitti, skeletons in classrooms, fake ghosts, slippery when wet signs, even stealing 2 laptops. Eolgani High fixed it up and after a day or two, it was back to its original clean, spiffy state. Which angered the kids more.

Anyway, my two best friends are Kim Taeyeon and Lee Kiseop. Taeyeon is a fashion designer and can make 5 beautiful shirts in one hour. She wears the best clothes and plus, she's bubbly and sweet if you don't cross her line. Then it will be the day of your death. Secretly, she was an amazing singer also, but only I know about it. It seems like I'm the only one who can put up with her temper sometimes.

Kiseop is a computer nerd. He knows everything about technology while I sometimes take a while to find the flashdrive slit. He helps companies produce their own popular websites and he edits them. He's basically turned rich and it seems like he's set for the future. He's quiet and secretive and I never know what's going on in his brain through that black-haired head of his.

Even though I fit into this school, I have made enemies. Yuri is the queenka of this school. How stupid that no matter what school I go to, there's always the mean girl. Yuri is super rich and from what I know, isn't that smart and a rumor has been going on lately that her dad paid thousands of money to the school. It makes me look down on her and feel pity.

Yuri and her best friend Raina sets out to destroy me ever since I've became friends with Taeyeon. I predicted they didn't have a nice history together. Since they hate Taeyeon, they hate me and their endless teasing makes me wish I didn't go to Eolgani High after all. But that's stupid, I always told myself. It's the same result wherever I go so might as well make the best of it.

Anyway, Taeyeon says I've been stressed this junior year so she told me to make a list of things I want to accomplish. I think it kind of helped. Here's the list:

Goals for Me, Yee Ji Lin, to Do Over the School Year

1. Stop staring at Kim Jonghyun (My first Eolgani High crush~) during class. He'll think of me as a freak and never as a potential girlfriend if I keep doing that.  Jonghyun might pass off to people as nothing but a bad boy who probably threatened the headmaster to let him in, but I see deeper than that. I feel he's actually a very sensitive (and handsome) guy. Plus, it's not that hard to spot the cute ones at Eolgani High. We only have 100 or so people.

2. Stop fiddling with my hair. If I keep trying to brush it down, the friction will just cause it to arise again and therefore, I should not touch my hair during school time.

3. Try to get out of the habit of clenching and unclenching my fist. It's awkward which Taeyeon told me,

4. Stay clear of Yuri and Raina's target list

5. Don't make umma mad at me cause she can really hold a grudge ever since appa left and married another woman. I still can't believe I have a stepsister and stepmother.
