Dorm

The familiar black behind my eyes shifted to a bright red orange and I groan, turning over and pulling the blanket over my head.
        It gets torn away from me and then I feel my bed shift as someone sits on it.
        “Wake up, Key,” Jonghyun pokes my cheek.
        My body aches still, and I don’t even respond until he whines.
        “Keeeyyyyy, don’t ignore me,” I can tell he’s pouting just by the tone of his voice.
        “I’m not...” I mumble trying to keep sleeping.
        “Then wake up, it’s my birthday, aren’t you going to do something for it?”
        This has my eyes open, he was right,
        “I’m sorry Jjong...I’m just so tired...” I move to get up and he puts on a small smile, “I think everyone would be tired, considering the time.”
        I glance at the clock. 6AM.
        Only three hours of sleep?
        I fall back onto my bed.
        “Oh come onn, it’s not everyday that I get you to myself,” I feel him get closer, his breath hits my ear, “please wake up.”
        I shiver, but agree, rolling off my bed and standing, my entire body arguing against it.
        I brush my teeth and hair, pulling out some concealer to help with the dark circles under my eyes before returning to our room to change. Jonghyun watches me as I switch out of my sleepwear, but not in the seductive way the manager does.
        “Last night’s sleep was probably the best I ever had,” he smiles, “it was just so peaceful.”
        “Yeah,” I lie, buttoning down the shirt I put on.
        One more thing. No one knew the manager called me to practice in the middle of the night. No one noticed the way he looked at me.
        “Come on pabo, I’m ready. Where to?” I speak, standing in the doorway with my arms crossed.
        “You’re cute when you’re annoyed,” he laughs softly before taking my hand and leading me out the front door.
        I shiver as the cool morning air hits me,
        “Do you want to go get your jacket?”
        I shake my head,
        “I’m fine.”
        He nods and we start to walk.
        “Manager-sshi yelled at me for being late to practice yesterday evening.” he states.
        “Ye, I remember, you were ten minutes late,” I reply.
        Once practice had ended at nine, I was called back at eleven, “He’s been yelling alot lately.”
        “Really?”
        “Yeah...haven’t you noticed? He’s always calling me out and yelling, never Taemin, or Onew, or even you and Minho. It’s just me.”
        “I didn’t notice...I’ll tell him to stop,” he puts an arm around my shoulder.
        “No...I’m used to it by now, so it doesn’t matter.”
        He turns to look at me,
        “Used to it? You shouldn’t be used to it Key,” he kisses the top of my head softly, making me feel like a child, “that’s not right. I’ll talk to him right now, maybe he can be replaced,” he turns and begins to walk forward but I grab his hand and pull him back.
        “Jonghyun, it’s alright.” I speak defensively when I hear his idea of replacing him.
        “Key-”
        “It’s fine. I’ve been listening to shouts even before debut because of my parents.” I explain
        “Are you sure? I mean I can just-”
        “Jjong, be a good puppy and and listen to me: I’m fine.”
        I didn’t want manager-nim gone, I didn’t want to start a fight. I shouldn’t have said anything.
        “Okay,” he drops the topic and we continue walking, reaching a cafe for breakfast.
