“Okay this is the final match! Team 2 from Class 2 and Team 8 from Class 4!” The coach announced.

You, Kai, and Baekhyun came down to the courts. *I never knew I would ever be called down to the finals.* You looked up and met eyes with Baekhyun. *And I never knew Baekhyun would be on my opposite team either.*

His lips curled into a small smile. You smiled back and nodded.

Baekhyun opened his mouth to say something but Hyeri obscured your view. She smirked as she tossed the ball up and down, “Ready to lose, hoebag?”

You rolled your eyes, “Classy name. I’ve been called worse by better.”

“Whatever. Just don’t trip on your own two feet.” Hyeri spat. She gave you a look and sauntered off, swaying her hips.

“I wish you would fall flat on your face.” You muttered.

“GO STAR! YOU CAN DO IT!” Sehun cheered. You gave him a tiny, insecure smile *At least I have one fan.*

Kai looked at you, “You ready?” “No but I don’t have a choice.” You shrugged.

The whistle was blown. Hyeri tossed the ball in the air and threw it hard towards you. You pressed your lips into a thin line, jumped up, and hurled it right back. One of her teammates couldn’t catch it in time and the point went to you. “YES!” You jumped up and down. Kai grinned and held out his hand, “Good job, Star.” You smiled and slapped it.

You met eyes with Hyeri and smirked *Revenge feels good.*

Her eyes blazed with belligerence *I’ll wipe that smirk off your face, No Haebin!*

Kai served and threw the ball. Baekhyun served it back as lightly as he could towards you. You jumped and hit it over the net. Hyeri vehemently glared at you as steam came out of her ears. *Why is he playing so nice to her?!* Your teammate slapped the ball and it went sailing towards her. Hyeri leaped up and violently slammed the ball towards you. Your eyes widened in horror.

“WATCH OUT!” But you were too late and couldn’t avoid the ball in time.

The ball banged against your head and you went sprawling onto the ground in a dizzy heap.

“OOO!” The seniors winced.

Kai’s and Baekhyun’s eyes widened. Chanyeol stood up with big eyes *That…bitch…* D.O., Suho, and Sehun shot out of their seats as well. “Holy shit, man! That was HILARIOUS!” Sungjoo was cracking up so hard that he had to hug his stomach, “Did you see that?! That was the funniest shit EVER! THAT’S MY GIRL!”

Hyeri smirked proudly. Chanyeol fiercely glared at him *How would you like it if I threw a ball at your head?! Your freaking skull would explode, you bastard!* Sehun pointed and shouted in outrage, “FOUL! THAT GIRL DID THAT TO HER ON PURPOSE!”

“Did not.” Hyeri snorted and tossed her hair back.

Kai strode over to your side. “Are you all right?” He gently murmured. “I think so.” You mumbled.

“Easy.” Kai slipped his arms underneath your arms and pulled you up. You touched your aching forehead where the ball had mostly bounced off of.

“You okay?” Kai asked again. “Yeah…” You looked at Hyeri who was smiling widely in approval. You narrowed your eyes at her *I’ll show her…* You looked at Kai, “Is it bad?” He checked your forehead. A small, red welt was beginning to swell up. Kai shrugged, “It could be worse.”

You took a deep breath to calm down.

“Haebin, you okay?!” The teacher asked, “Do you want to go get some ice?”

You shook your head, “No, I’m fine. I can finish this game.”

“You sure?” She asked, concerned. You nodded. “Okay then…” Unsure, the teacher backed away, “Let’s start again.”

You flexed your fingers. “You sure you want to do this?” Kai murmured. You nodded, “Oh, I’m sure.” You twisted your neck with adrenaline rushing through your veins *This game just became personal.*

The game continued. You served a couple winning spikes and won points for your team. Hyeri snorted *Lucky hits.*

The teams were tied. Only one point was needed to win the game. *Come on Haebin. You can do this.* You positively thought. One of your teammates served. The opposite team hit it back and the ball kept going back and forward. Hyeri saw the ball coming towards her. She quickly glanced at you and smirked. *Watch THIS, No Haebin.* Hyeri jumped up and hit the ball hard with her palm.

Your eyes widened as the ball came spiraling towards you in such swift speed. Before you could attempt to defend yourself, Kai appeared out of nowhere and slapped the ball hard. It went sailing across the sky and into Hyeri’s face. “OOF!” She skidded across the court. The coach blew on the whistle, “TIME OUT!”

Hyeri touched her nose and shrieked, “IT’S BLEEDING!” Sungjoo stopped laughing and stood up in alarm, “Baby!”

Your eyes widened, “Kai!” He stared at Hyeri expressionless but you could see resentment in his eyes. He didn’t feel sorry a bit. *She tried to hurt Star again. Once I can forgive but not twice.*

Baekhyun stood by, stunned by Kai’s violence towards a female but he did nothing to help Hyeri.

In fury Sungjoo stormed down onto the courts. “Han Sungjoo-“ The teachers warned. He strode over anyways and shoved Kai hard in the chest. “You asshole! You did that on purpose! How could you hit a girl?!” Sungjoo wrathfully glared at him.

Kai smirked, “That’s funny coming from a guy who torments an innocent girl every day just to blow up his own ego.”

“WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?!” Sungjoo grabbed his collar.

Exo-K members on the bleachers shot up defensively. D.O. curled his hand into a fist. *You hit him once and you’re going down human boy.*

You grabbed Sungjoo’s hands with a stern glower. “Let go of him, Sungjoo!” You hissed. He completely ignored you and sneered reproachfully at Kai, “You think you’re so smartass just because you know how to talk back to me? Huh?! It’s not wise to mess with me!” “LET GO!” You demanded.

“You stay out of this bitch!” Sungjoo snapped at you.

Kai immediately reacted by pushing you behind him and roughly shoving Sungjoo’s shoulder, causing him to release Kai. Kai gave him an aggravated look, “You call her a name that’s suited for your girl toy again and I’ll break your neck off.”

You stared at him wide-eyed but your heart felt warm by his defense. Sungjoo stared at him, incredulous *This punk!* He clenched his hand into a fist.

Before a nasty fight could break out, the teachers interfered. “All right. That’s enough! Han Sungjoo, go back to your seat! And Kim Jongin, play fairly or you will receive detention! Do I make myself clear?!” The coach glared at both boys.

Kai nodded and stepped back. Sungjoo cursed in frustration and walked back to the bleachers.

“All right! Let’s play people!” The coach went back to the sidelines.

You looked at Kai, “You all right?” “Perfectly fine.” Kai rotated his neck.

Hyeri was taken to the office so only Baekhyun and 4 other students remained on his team. Kai served the ball and Baekhyun hit it back. The ball went back and forth between the two sides.

“I got it! I got it!” You jumped up and slapped your palm against the ball. It was coming right towards Baekhyun. He could either hit it and get you out or pretend to miss it and let you win. Baekhyun didn’t hesitate to choose the latter. He pretended to aim for it but the ball went flying onto the ground.

“Aww.” His team moaned.

“Team 2 from Class 2 is the winner!” The coach announced.

“YES! WE WON! WE WON!” You jumped up and down. Kai smiled and walked towards you. In the spur of the moment, you jumped into his arms. Kai blinked in surprise but smiled immediately. He wrapped his arms around you and embraced you securely. *As expected, Star feels warm and soft…*

Chanyeol didn’t know why his eyebrow started to twitch all of a sudden.

Baekhyun softly smiled your way *I’m happy you’re happy, Star.*

You realized you were hugging Kai and stepped back. You turned pink and stumbled backwards, “M-mianhae.” “It’s all right.” He assured, his ears slightly red. *What the hell? Am I embarrassed? I never get embarrassed.* You looked up and met eyes with Baekhyun. You ran over and touched the net.

“Good game, Baekhyun.” You breathed. He gave you an adoring smile and weaved his fingers through the net also. “You, too. You’re a star player.”

You laughed at how he had incorporated your nickname into the compliment. He began to laugh also.

“No Haebin! Come here!” The PE instructor called.

You looked at Baekhyun, “I have to go…”

“I’ll see you later. Have fun…ditching.” He chuckled.

You softened *I wish all of you can come with me, too.*

“No Haebin!” The teacher called again. You glanced at Baekhyun one more time before running over to him. The teacher grinned and handed you, Kai, and the rest of the group passes to be excused from the last class of the day. “Go home. You all deserve it.” “YES!” Your teammates cheered and ran out of the gym.

You and Kai looked at each other. He smirked and held out his knuckle, “Good job for the winning strike, Star.”

You smiled and lightly bumped your fist against his.
