“KIM KIBUM!!”

Kibum shot upright in his couch, dreading what was coming next.

“Onew, protect me!” he whispered, cowering behind him.

“You… you… you SKIPPED!! AGAIN!!” The last word was like thunder. Loud footsteps were heard as Kibum’s father made his way up the second floor.

The door to Kibum’s room banged open to reveal an angry. disheveled looking Mr. Kim.

“Son. This is the twenty-FIFTH time. TWENTY-FIVE, boy,” his father spat. “You’re not even that old yet!!”

“It’s twenty-THREE absents, dad.” Kibum stood up from behind Onew. “And you probably don’t even know how old I am!!”

His father took a deep breath. “It doesn’t matter, son! You-”

“It… it… it DOESN’T MATTER?! I’m your son! I bet you don’t even know when Jinki’s birthday is! Or his nickname!!” Kibum inhaled, then exhaled shakily. “But I’m sure you can tell me the price of the cheapest stock at the moment.”

Mr. Kim stood very still for a few seconds. Then he rubbed his temples, his eyes closed. “I know you’ve not been able to get over your mother’s death, but it’s been-”

“LONG ENOUGH FOR YOU TO GET A GIRLFRIEND!” Kibum felt Onew pull at the back of his shirt in an anxious attempt to get him to shut up, but he ignored him.

“And if you’re thinking of marrying her, NO! I wouldn’t allow it. She’ll never hold even a candle to Mom!” His eyes wet a little, but he brushed them away with a quick sweep of his hand. A sardonic smirk came to his pale face.

“Hm. I don’t even want to know where you found that slutty bitch-”

SLAP. Suddenly his father’s face was too close to his. “Don’t you ever say that about Gayoon!” (A/N: I have nothing against her. She has an AMAZING voice!!!) He stepped back, closed his eyes, and rubbed his temples with one hand, collecting himself. “I know she will never replace your mom-”

“GET OUT!!”

“DON’T YOU EVER SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT EVER AGAIN! YOU ARE TO STOP AVOIDING YOUR LIFE!! YOU ARE GOING TO SCHOOL TOMORROW! NOW SHUT UP!” His father marched out the door and slammed it, shaking it on its hinges.

Not a tear dripped from Kibum‘s feline eyes. “Fucking bastard.”
