Just hanging out
The next morning Ji-Na woke up with someone knocking at her door, she slowly got up and opened the door. When she opened the door, she was surprised to see Yoochun and Jaejoong standing in front of her.
“Ji-Na shi did we wake you up” Jaejoong asked, Ji-Na rubbed her eyes a little and nodded her head, “We’ll wait a little bit for you to get ready” Jaejoong stated. They walked inside and Ji-Na went to the bathroom and got ready. In 15 minutes she was done and saw Jaejoong and Yoochun sitting on the ground just talking.
“Oh are you ready” Yoochun asked. Ji-Na nodded her head. Ji-Na looked around and found a notebook.
‘I’m guessing you guys want me to help work’ She wrote. Jaejoong and Yoochun laughed awkwardly and slowly nodded their heads, Ji-Na rolled her eyes, ‘Thought so’ She wrote. They headed out and walked down the street to see Junsu working in the rice fields again.
“Junsu ah, we brought some help” Jaejoong called.
Junsu looked up and saw Ji-Na, he smiled a little bit, “Great we could use all the help we can get” Junsu said. Ji-Na walked and went to a rice field and started to help plant again. She wasn’t use to working as much so it took her awhile, in the end Junsu helped her. Jaejoong and Yoochun were fine working on their own. They actually finished faster than Junsu and then they went to go play. So it was just Junsu and Ji-Na for awhile.
“I’m guessing you don’t work very much” Junsu said, Ji-Na smiled and shook her head. “If you don’t work very much, then why’d you help me yesterday” Junsu asked. Ji-Na tried to think of a way to talk to him, then she had an idea. She wiped her hands and took out her cellphone, she started to type on it and handed it over to Junsu.
‘You looked so upset yesterday and I felt bad. Plus I wanted to see what it felt like to do some manual labor’ It said. Junsu handed the phone back and Ji-na closed it and put it back in her pocket.
“So you pitied me” Junsu asked, Ji-Na shrugged her shoulders then shook her head, meaning she didn’t really know, “Alright I guess” Junsu said, they started to work again. Ji-Na realized that Junsu was actually waiting for her most of the time because she was going pretty slow. She turned to him and looked at Junsu in an apologetic way.
Junsu laughed, “It’s ok, you don’t work very often, I just appreciate the help” Junsu smiled, Ji-Na smiled and they started to work again. They finished around 2PM, and they went back to Junsu’s house to see Jaejoong and Yoochun playing soccer. Junsu ran up and took the ball, he started to kick it around while Jaejoong and Yoochun tried to steal the ball back. Sadly, no matter how hard they try, they couldn’t get the ball back. Ji-Na just watched.
“Ji-Na come play” Junsu kicked the ball to her, she kicked it up and started to juggle. She stalled, did regular juggling, kicked it behind her head and kicked it back in front of her, bounced it off her chest and then kicked back to Junsu so it went straight at his towards his chest. It bounced off his chest and then he kicked it around until Jaejoong and Yoochun got tired and sat on the ground.
“We give up, playing soccer with junsu is painful” Jaejoong whined trying to catch his breath.
Junsu rubbed his chest a bit from that last hit, “You think that playing with me is painful, Ji-Na kicked really hard” Junsu complained.
“That was really cool though, Ji-Na do you play soccer” Yoochun asked. Ji-Na shook her head, she walked inside to get the same notebook as before so she could talk to them.
‘Someone taught me how to play. That’s pretty much all I know’ she wrote.
“Even though that’s all you know, it’s pretty cool” Junsu smiled, Ji-Na smiled and then her stomach growled. The three guys let out little laughs and headed inside.
“If you were hungry, why didn’t you say anything” Jaejoong asked, Ji-Na shrugged her shoulders and they all sat down while Junsu got some food. He came back some Kimbap, they all ate some and talked for a bit.
“So Ji-Na where are you from” Junsu asked.
‘Seoul’ Ji-Na wrote.
“Oh so you’re a city girl” Yoochun asked, Ji-Na nodded her head.
Junsu looked at Ji-Na but she didn’t notice because she was “talking” to jaejoong and Yoochun. They seemed pretty interested about city life. They kept asking questions and Ji-Na just tried to keep up writing.
“It must be nice to live in the city” Jaejoong said while day dreaming.
‘It can be alright, but there is a lot of pressure in the city. Sometimes I wish I could live in a place like this, it’s so peaceful’ She wrote thoughtfully.
Yoochun and Jaejoong were shocked, “Really, you’d rather live here than the city” They asked together. Ji-Na had to think for a little bit but then she nodded her head. Jaejoong leaned back.
“That’s kind of surprising” Jaejoong said, Ji-Na shrugged her shoulders and smiled. The whole time Junsu didn’t say anything, he just looked at Ji-Na. She was definitely different from the people that he’s known or met, even though most of the young girls that he’s met have just passed through the town. She actually was the first girl he’s ever interacted with properly.
‘Now it’s my turn to ask questions’ Ji-Na wrote.
“Go ahead” Jaejoong said.
Ji-Na smiled, ‘Well are you guys seriously the only kids in this town’ she asked.
Yoochun nodded his head, “Yeah pretty much, you’d have to go to the next city to find someone around our age” Yoochun answered.
“Also, haven’t you noticed that Yoochun, Junsu and I are the only ones outside” Jaejoong asked, Ji-Na thought about it and realized that she’s never seen anyone else. She nodded her head, “That’s because everyone here is so old and they can’t do anything, so we do most of the work and run the city” Jaejoong answered.
Ji-Na nodded her head, ‘You guys must get lonely from time to time, not having many people to talk to’ She wrote.
They all shook their heads, “Not really, we do talk to the elderly people once in awhile” Yoochun stated.
“Also we grew up with each other, so as long as we’re together we’re not lonely” Jaejoong smiled, they all looked at each other and nodded their heads.
‘That’s good. It’s always good to have friendships like that’ She wrote, ‘Sometimes I wish i had friends like that’ She added.
“You mean you don’t have friends” Yoochun asked.
Ji-Na shook her head, ‘I actually have a lot of friends but sometimes I can’t tell if they’re my friends because they like me or something else’ Ji-Na wrote.
“So you don’t have any close friends” Jaejoong asked, Ji-Na nodded her head.
Junsu finally opened his mouth, “Well that’s not the case anymore, you have three close friends now” Junsu said point to each of them.
Ji-Na smiled and nodded her head, ‘Thanks’ She wrote, ‘I’m a bit curious but how come you guys didn’t freak out or anything when you first met me, since I’m the only girl around here’ She asked.
“Well” Yoochun stressed, “when you have someone like Jaejoong, girls aren’t a problem when they come around” He laughed.
“Hey I’m not a girl” Jaejoong complained.
“Yeah you’re not a girl, but you are GIRLY” Junsu stressed the word girly. They started to bicker while Ji-Na just watched in amusement. Eventually they stopped bickering and started to laugh, all of them had a pretty good time that day. To Ji-Na jaejoong was like the older sister that she never had, Yoochun was like her older brother but Junsu, she didn’t know what he was to her.
They all became a lot closer, and everyday Ji-Na would help them work. Whether it was working in the rice fields, doing work around town or just helping the elderly. Ji-Na started to grow attached to the town and the people there. Sometimes she was having such a good time that she was ignoring the phone calls that she was receiving from various people, some more than others. The week before Ji-Na had to leave, Junsu told her that they didn’t have work to do around the town so they could just relax and have fun.
“What are we going to do though” Yoochun asked.
“Yeah I mean we don’t really have much to do” Jaejoong sighed.
“Let’s have a sport marathon today, I mean we finally have enough people to have even teams” Junsu stated.
“Alright I’m fine with that” Jaejoong nodded, Yoochun stood there and sighed.
“Do I have much of a choice” he asked, everyone shook their heads, “Alright I’m in too” He said. The teams were Jaejoong and Ji-Na against Yoochun and Junsu. They played 5 different sports, soccer, basketball, badminton, running and baseball. The score was tied, Jaejoong and Ji-Na won when it came to soccer and badminton but Junsu and yoochun won basketball and running. They were playing the last round of baseball and Jaejoong was up at bat, if he got this, they’d win and if he didn’t they’d lose. There wasn’t much pressure because they were just doing this for fun. Yoochun threw the ball and Jaejoong hit it so hard that it went pretty far. At that point Jaejoong and Ji-Na won that game. Jaejoong and Ji-Na jumped for joy.
“That was awesome” Jaejoong said.
“Yeah” Ji-Na spoke, that’s when time froze and all the guys just looked at Ji-Na.
Junsu and Yoochun walked closer, “Did you just say something” Yoochun asked.
Ji-Na let out a few noises and realized her throat didn’t hurt and she could talk fine, “Yeah I guess so” She smiled. All of a sudden Jaejoong and Ji-Na started to jump around again.
“Today is a great day, Ji-Na finally can talk and we beat you guys in sports” Jaejoong said gleefully, “I hope this day never ends” He smiled.
“You and me both” Ji-Na said. The other boys just shrugged their shoulders and watch the two cheer, “And I probably wouldn’t have talked if you didn’t get that home run, thanks Jaejoong” She hugged Jaejoong, no one noticed but Junsu’s expression changed and he had a weird sensation at the pit of his stomach. It was definitely not a feeling he liked. He walked back inside without saying anything.
