Rain

3 Identities of my Mysterious Wife

L.Joe went home excitedly, happy that he figured out his feelings. He was anxious to see Mihye, the longing building up in his heart even though it was just a few hours ago that they had the dinner together.

He glanced at his watch and scowled when he noted that the time was already late. He didn't want Mihye to stay up, waiting for him, because he wanted her to rest. But at the same time, he really wanted to see her before the day ended that day.

He went home eagerly, throwing the door open and half-expecting his wife to be waiting for him by the door.

Only, she didn't.

L.Joe's face fell slightly when he looked around the hall that was empty with no one in sight. The lights were dimmed and it seemed that everyone in the house had already fallen asleep. Not that L.Joe minded or anything, but it was strange. Mihye always waited for him, no matter how late it was.

Was she angry because he left her halfway through dinner before that? He bit his lip nervously and went up to their room. He saw a bump in the covers that belonged to Mihye and he smiled softly. *My wife.*

He put his suitcase down as softly as possible and tiptoed over to Mihye. She seemed to be sleeping soundly, her eyes slightly puffy from the crying previously but not obvious in the dark. L.Joe softened and brushed her bangs out of her face, watching her as the moonlight shone on her face.

*She's so beautiful.* he thought tenderly. *I love you, Choi Mihye. I'm never going to let this six months be the end of us. There will be an 'us' as long as forever.*

He pressed a kiss on his fingers and transferred it onto her cheek. He would have loved to kiss her, but he was afraid the smooching sound might wake her up, knowing that she was a light sleeper. He smiled once more and crept away, changing into his pyjamas and getting ready for bed.

Once L.Joe was far enough, Mihye opened her eyes and a tear trickled down her cheek. She had felt how he tucked her into bed and caressed her face in soft touches. It almost felt as if he was in love with her.

But he wasn't and she knew it.

"Don't treat me so well Byunghun oppa, or it'll be more difficult to let go." she whispered brokenly.

L.Joe had a rather cold treatment from Mihye the next day. She didn't really respond to his questions, but just gave short answers or sometimes even just a nod. She didn't look anywhere in his direction and refused to meet his eyes. L.Joe felt extremely bothered by this and was troubled by the cause of her behavior. When asked if she was angry with him for abandoning her halfway through their dinner, she honestly replied no.

L.Joe couldn't think of any reason for her to be mad at him, or to avoid him like a plague. It mystified him thoroughly and he didn't know what to do about it. He went off to work, hoping that she would cheer up by the end of the day.

When he left, Kevin came out to where Mihye was staring at L.Joe's car drive off into the distance. He took her by the shoulders and turned her towards him slowly, smiling softly into her face. "Hey. Feeling alright today?" he asked.

Mihye met his eyes and he sighed at the lifelessness in them. "Apparently not." he muttered. He put on a bright smile and poked her nose. "Let's go out today, Mihye. You've got to get out of this house that's full of traces of you and him. Forget about him and just be yourself for a moment. Oh?" he suggested.

Mihye sighed and looked at him. "I guess..."

Encouraged, Kevin tugged Mihye with him up to L.Joe and her room, and threw her wardrobe ope, choosing a cute outfit for her that consisted of a pretty pink casual dress and fake pearl collars, matched with a simple heart locket charm bracelet. He pushed her to the bathroom with those things and a bright smile. "Change and we'll go out. Everything's going to be fine. Trust Kevin oppa, alright?"

Mihye nodded listlessly and went to change. Kevin took a deep breath and smiled to himself. "This is your chance, Kevin Woo. Mihye fell in love with Byunghun, but he's dumb enough to reject her. He's the fool of the century really, but this makes things easier for you. Now's your turn to make her fall for you." he cheered himself on.

Kevin brought Mihye to the nearby carnival. The atmosphere was high and cheerful, and he hoped that some of it would transfer itself onto Mihye.

But it wasn't so easy. Mihye was still looking dull and listless even when merry music was playing in the background, and cute kids were running around having the time of their lives. Kevin took her hand and pulled her through the crowd, making sure that she wasn't too far off behind him.

They went to various stations, trying out different games. Or rather, it was Kevin who went to different stations and tried different games while Mihye just watched boredly.

Kevin tried really hard at the Sudoku stall, wanting to win a teddy bear for Mihye. But he was blessed with the looks and not with math skills apparently, and it took him really long to figure out the answers for the quiz when his opponent, who was a nine year old boy, had already finished the whole thing in less than two minutes.

He sulked and went back to Mihye, his head lowered. Mihye giggled slightly at his comical expression and Kevin looked at her in surprise. "You're smiling." he poked her cheek. Mihye swatted his hand away and forced a weak smile. "Neh."

Kevin hugged her and kissed the top of her head. "I'm glad you're better just even a bit." he confessed. "I'd make a fool out of myself if it makes you happier even for an instant."

Mihye froze when she felt the kiss, but dismissed it as brotherly acts by this brotherly figure in her life. She sighed softly and looked at him with grateful eyes. "Thank you Kevin oppa. I'm glad you're here with me."

Kevin ruffled her hair fondly and took her hand again, leading her away to have more fun. *I'd be with you as long as you want Mihye.* he thought. *Forever, if you'd just allow me to do so.*

The two of them had some fun for a few hours, before finally using up all their energy and collapsing at a local cafe. Mihye had joined in a few games towards the end of the carnival, and her smile appeared more and more. It wasn't that she wasn't upset about L.Joe not loving her, but she knew she owed it that much to Kevin who tried so hard to make her happy. She couldn't make him worry like that.

Kevin went off to get both of them cheesecakes, snacks and some latte. As soon as he left, the smile on Mihye's face disappeared and she stared blankly at her hands.

L.Joe hadn't left her mind for a single moment throughout the whole journey. She thought of him every possible second and even though it didn't seem possible, the pain was growing the more she thought of it. What she felt for him was too strong to be just dismissed and forgotten by a mere carnival.

Even if there was a zombie invasion right now, she'd be willing to bet that the first thing that'd come into her mind was L.Joe's safety on top of hers. He was more important than even herself right now, and she really hated herself for letting things come to this.

Someone pulled the chair opposite hers and sat down in front of her. She blinked in surprise and came staring into the face that she had been trying so hard to research on.

"Rain." she whispered, her eyes landing on the J.T. necklace that still hung around her neck.

"Mrs Lee." Rain smirked. His eyes shone with something she could not identify. "You remember my name." he commented, looking pleased. Mihye nodded nervously, trying not to let it show that she was afraid of this might-be- in front of her.

"What are you doing here with another man instead of your husband?" Rain asked airily.

Mihye glanced at Kevin. "None of your business." she snapped. Rain raised his brows in surprise. "Fiesty, are we?" he grinned. "Strangely familiar." he tapped his chin. "Somehow a little like.. the Queen..."

Mihye froze. Cold sweat collected round her forehead and she wiped it off nervously.

Rain laughed. He looked at her. "But Mrs Lee's too meek to be her, right?"

Mihye nodded, not answering. Rain got up and threw her a smile. "Got to go now, Mrs Lee. See you when I see you." he saluted and strode off. Mihye heaved a sigh of relief and slumped onto her chair. If only she could figure out his identity...

Rain got out of the cafe with a smirk. "So that's who you are Mrs Lee? The Queen?" he grinned. "I'd know that pair of eyes anywhere. That husband of hers is too stupid to notice such a fact."

With the new information at hand, he strode off.
