"I Do Have Rights Over You!"

The Significance of One

Hee Bon’s POV

I dragged Junho outside to ask him the question.

“Hey, hey, where are you dragging me off to?” Junho questioned.

“Just somewhere I can ask you a question,” I replied.

“What question?” he asked. We finally got to a bench. I sat down.

“Sit,” I instructed him.

“So…” he pressed me to answer.

“Well, you see, Ri In isn’t really Junsu’s cousin. The site was a fraud. It was set up by Hang Kyung,” I explained. He gasped.

“Is it that Hang Kyung that was there before?” he asked me, confused and surprised.

“Yes,” I answered, amused. I know that Junho is confused.

“What…? But…? He…?” Junho trailed off, trying to get an answer out of me.

“He is helping us,” I said, making him more confused, on purpose.

“Why?” came out his small whisper.

“He sees what we see. He sees that Junsu loves Ri In. And with Ri In, we all know what she feels,” I explained, making it all clear for him in one simple explanation.

“Oh,” he finally made a sound after digesting all the information.

“So, can I ask you my question yet?” I asked.

“Sure,” he answered, absentminded.

“Yah! I need your full attention!” I shouted into his ear. He jumped and held his chest.

“Hey! You scared me!” he accused me. I just laughed. I then turned serious.

“Are you going pay attention now?” I asked him sternly. He nodded his head, clearly afraid of my death glare.

“Good,” I said and leaned to Junho’s ear and whispered to him the plans. He was listening very attentively though. He nodded a couple of times to show he was listening to me.

“Now, what do you think?” I asked him after I finished telling our plan out.

“I like the first idea better,” he finally replied after weighting all the plans.

“Damn you, Hang Kyung,” I muttered under my breath.

“What?” asked Junho.

“Nothing,” I immediately replied.

“Okay, Hee Bon-shii. Oh yeah, before I forget, I want to ask you a question,” Junho said.

“Shoot,” I said.

“Where’s your husband?” Junho questioned. The question struck me like lightening. I completely forgot about my husband.

“Uh oh,” I muttered. He is going to be worried sick. I forgot to tell him I was going to Seoul.

“Hello?” Junho asked, waving his hand in front of me.

“New York,” I answered, absentminded.

“What? Oh,” Junho let out. He must have gotten confused when I suddenly answered him. Suddenly, my phone rang. I jumped and held my breath. I finally let it out with a long sigh. I took my phone out of my pocket and looked at the Caller ID. Yep, it was my husband. Kudos to who guessed it right. I reluctantly pressed the green button, clearly scared of what I was going to receive. I braced myself for the impact.

“Yah! Park Hee Bon! Where have you been?! You made me worried sick!” my husband shouted. I flinched and held the phone away from my ear a little.

“Mianhe, I forgot,” I whimpered. When my husband is angry, then he can be really scary.

“Argh! Listen Park Hee Bon, I was worried sick. And yes, I nearly got a heart attack…” I knew he was going to trail off until forever so I let the phone in my hand without turning it off and headed back towards Junho.

Junho’s POV

I saw Hee Bon return with her phone still not turned off. I could still hear her husband’s voice loud and clear.

“You really do love your husband, right?” I asked her. She pressed mute so that her husband can’t hear us but we can hear him.

“Yeah, even though he maybe a bit silly and weird at times, I still love him,” she confessed. I smiled. Hee Bon has found her true love. Now it’s only Junsu and Ri In.

“Yah, Park Hee Bon, are you even listening!?” I heard from the phone. She sighed and pressed the mute button again to un-mute it.

“Of course I am,” she answered warily. She pressed the mute button again and leaned to the bench.

“Good. Now, where was I up to…?” I heard Hee Bon’s husband say. I laughed at how persistent Hee Bon’s husband was.

“Hey, you should find the woman of your life too,” suggested Hee Bon.

“What!? No, thank you. I would rather stay single,” I told her.

“Right,” she said, stretching the ‘i’. I ignored the sarcasm in her voice.

“We should be returning right now,” I declared as I stood up and stretched.

“Yeah, I wonder how the others are doing,” Hee Bon said.

“Okay, let’s go,” I said and walked off.

“Wait!” Hee Bon said. I stopped and turned around. She was on her phone. Oh yeah, I forgot about her husband for a second. She closed her phone and came towards me.

“Right, let’s go,” she said and casually walked in front of me. I laughed wile I tried to keep up with her.

Junsu’s POV

I actually felt a bit happy inside though I knew what it meant. I shook off the feeling and thought about an action that Ri In done and almost got angry immediately. I slammed my hand on the table.

“How can you do this, Appa?! Everything is already set!” I boomed.

“This is my decision. There will be further problems after you sign it!” Appa also boomed and slammed his hand on the table. I flinched back a little. Appa had never raised his voice at Junho Hyung or me ever before.

“How about Taeyeon?! She has been waiting for me this whole time!” I dared to say.

“How about Ri In?!” retorted Appa. He was booming and breathing hard.

“Calm down, breathe,” soothed Ri In and Omma.

“Don’t pretend to be nice!” I yelled at Ri In. she turned to look at me with eyes glistening with tears.

“Calm down, Oppa,” Taeyeon said. I calmed down a bit.

“Let’s go. Ri In, you stay here,” softly commanded Omma. Ri In nodded and let go of Appa’s arm. Omma slowly led Appa away. I wanted to leave too but the sudden appearance of Hee bon halted me in my steps.

“It’s been long, Junsu,” Hee Bon said. She no longer called me Oppa.

“Yes, it has,” I said.

“Have you been well?” she asked.

“I have,” I answered.

“I wasn’t talking to you. I was talking to Ri In,” she said. I heard Junho hyung snicker. I felt a bit silly.

“I have been fine, Hee Bon-shii,” Ri In said. Then there was silence, awkward silence.

“Well, I will be taking my leave now,” Hee Bon said. Hee Bon walked past me but I stopped her before she left with my hand.

“Can you tell me what you have been doing all this time?” I asked her.

“I am a bit busy now. You can consult Junho. I told him everything you would ever need to know,” she said. I felt jealousy rising through me and I let it rise freely. She attempted to go again but with my fast reflexes, I stopped her just in time. She turned to look at me.

“Why did you tell Junho hyung, not me?!” I raised my voice at her.

“Why would I have to tell you first!? What right do you have over me?!” she yelled at me. I flinched back a little. I never knew she had such a loud voice since we never fought before.

“I do have rights over you!” I retorted.

“What right then?!” she yelled back at me.

“I used to be your boyfriend!” I stated.

“That was the past, Junsu. You even used the past tense yourself so you should know better than anyone else. Move on and don’t live in the past,” she said. I felt like I had no power over her any more. She started at me for a long time to see if I would do anything but I stood still. She walked ahead again but this time, I didn’t stop her. I was too angry to think about anyone else.

“Junho hyung, let’s talk,” I said and led the way outside. Junho hyung followed shortly after.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Taeyeon’s POV

I was confused. Who was this Hee Bon? I was stuck in my own world until I finally noticed that Junsu left.

“Where is Junsu?” I whispered to myself.

“He is gone with Junho-shii,” I heard someone answer. I twisted towards the voice and it belonged to Ri In. She had her arms across her chest.

“Are you happy now? Why must you ruin everyone’s happiness?” I asked her.

“Hey, Li Yin, I am going to go now. Will you okay with her?” I heard Hang Kyung ask. What’s with the foreign name, Li Yin?

“Don’t you worry, Han Geng. You know that I know Karate, Tae Kwon Do and Martial Arts. I should be fine,” Ri In said.

“Okay, I will be going. Just make sure to go easy on her. I don’t want blood all over the place,” Hang Kyung said his last message and left to go outside.

“Don’t worry, I won’t,” she whispered after he left and turned to face me with eyes burning with fire. Literally, her eyes looked like they were burning with fire because of the red colour.

“I have to go. See you later,” I said, unafraid and walked outside.

Narrator’s POV

With Hee Bon, Han Geng, Mr. and Mrs. Kim…

“Did you ask him, Hee Bon-shii?” asked Han Geng.

“Of course,” Hee Bon replied. Every started to get closer to Hee Bon and anticipated for the answer. She was silent while everyone was being very impatient.

“Well…?” prompted Han Geng.

“He said the first plan was better,” Hee Bon sighed.

“Yes!” cheered Mr. Kim and Han Geng while Hee Bon and Mrs. Kim stood there solemnly.

“You know what, Mr. Kim? Your acting skills were very good. You fooled me too,” complimented Han Geng while he was breathing hard from being too happy. Well, you know what, Han Geng? I have never seen two people like you and Mr. Kim that would be laughing so hard like someone did something very funny when you guys only laughed because you guys won.

“Well, you are one smart young man, Han Geng. Thanks for helping us in this situation or we might never have grandchildren,” thanked Mr. Kim while breathing hard too.

“It was all because of you that the plan would go on so smoothly,” said Han Geng.

“No, credits to you,” said Mr. Kim.

“No, you,” Han Geng said. And that, the two men kept arguing with two women beside them, shaking their heads.
